2 Students today, our future tomorrow. INTRODUCTION Welcome and thank you for your interest in a classified management position with the Guadalupe Union School District. POSITION: Healthy Start Family Services Program Coordinator Under the direct supervision of the Director of Educational Services. The Coordinator will plan, direct, and coordinate activities of programs within the District s Healthy Start Family Service Center to ensure that goals or objectives of the program(s) are accomplished within a prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. DISTRICT PROFILE The Guadalupe Union School District (K-8) is located on the beautiful California Central Coast, approximately 70 miles north of Santa Barbara and 32 miles south of San Luis Obispo. The city which is situated in the northwest section of Santa Barbara County has a population of approximately 7,000 residents. The District's certificated staff includes 40 teachers at Mary Buren Elementary (K-5 Self- Contained) and 19 teachers at Kermit McKenzie Jr. High School (6th 8th Departmentalized). support staff, and administration. DISTRICT PROGRAMS The District operates a variety of instructional programs to support and supplement core instruction, including: ASES Program and a Summer School Program. Instructional Assistants, Campus Safety Assistants, Outreach Consultants, a Resource Officer supports the certificated staff, a School Psychologist, Pupil Services Coordinator and Special Education support staff is available. A library and computer lab are available at both school sites. FAMILY SERVICES CENTER The Community Center, located at th Street, Guadalupe as The Cedillo Community Center vision and purpose is to provide parent resources, education and leadership development. The Center, formally known as the Family Service Center, was established in The candidate will continue to reveal community to know, that this is their center established for lifelong learning, where they are recognized for their talents and that this is a space where they can make a difference. The Little House by the Park The Cedillo Community Center, formerly known as the Family Services Center, is dedicated to its Mission to develop leadership through education, cultural awareness, health and the arts. Services offered a the community center are basic needs (food, clothing, & shelter), parenting information and classes, leadership development, school readiness programs that support school success, support of children with special needs, counseling and mental health services, health / dental insurance enrollment, employment assistance, referral to legal assistance, personal care packets, and parent leadership and volunteer opportunities.

3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Directs and coordinates activities of program staff to ensure program services and operations are maintained and within prescribed budget. Implements program requirements and supervise the daily operation within assigned area of responsibility. Reviews status reports and prepares program reports for senior management or others. Confers with Director of Educational Services and staff and provides advice and direction to resolve problems. Coordinates program activities with government regulatory or other governmental agencies. Acts on behalf of the District at public and other local functions and meetings. Confers with the Superintendent and Board before acting as the contact for news media, press releases and public information related to the Healthy Start Family Services Center. Establishes and maintains linkages with other school districts, community agencies, and other local funding groups. Participates in funding interviews and/or program audits and may act as a liaison for the program or agency Applies for funding grants to support and provide funding for all positions related to the Healthy Start Family Services Program Any negotiated local agreements with service agencies to expand services will be reviewed by the Director of Educational Services and approved by the Superintendent Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position. EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS The position requires a Bachelor s Degree in Education and three (3) years of experience working with families in an education setting. Three (3) years of experience in accounting systems and operations, financial reporting, auditing; Three (3) years in leadership capacity. Experience in managing/coordinating the work of subordinate staff is required. Experience working with budgetary or programmatic support of grant programs preferred Hold a valid California Driver s License. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment varies depending on activities.

4 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and supervise employees in the Healthy Start Family Services Center. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the work units. Also directly supervises non-supervisory employees whose duties pertain to the Health Start Family Services programs. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, program policies, funding source requirements and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommending new-hires, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills: To perform this position successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Purchase Order systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to speak, read and write Spanish is desirable. Other Qualifications: Periodic county-wide travel. PHYSICAL ABILITIES While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or listen. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

5 POSITION Healthy Start Family Services Program Coordinator (Classified Management) SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT TERMS Range: $64,440 to 84,792 Pending verification of experience.
