Visit us at JOB SUMMARY: The Promoting Life-skills in Aboriginal Youth (PLAY) program partners with First Nations communities and urban Indigenous organizations across Ontario, British Columbia, Manitoba and Alberta to deliver community-driven, culturally relevant play-based programming designed to enhance leadership, self-confidence, and self-efficacy among children and youth. Guided by an Indigenous community development model, PLAY and its partners create safe and inclusive spaces where children and youth can share their ideas, their hopes and their fears, and learn the skills to become positive agents of change. Reporting to the Sport For Development Program Manager, the Sport For Development Program Coordinator will work collaboratively with the PLAY team to assist in the planning and delivery of Sport For Development trainings, camps/clinics and subsequent community-based programming. Their overall goal is to work with Community Mentors to determine which sport-based programming best meet community needs, while working with consultants, Athlete Ambassadors and other skilled instructors to design and deliver community-wide sport programs. This position requires travel to various First Nation communities across the country (approximately 5 weeks throughout the contract). 2 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Job Responsibility #1: Support the Design and Coordination of Sport For Development Clinics, Programs and Trainings (35% of Time): Organize and coordinate the Sport For Development application process Gather and integrate Community Mentor, youth and community feedback into the design, development and program plans for sport and recreation clinics and trainings Support the logistics of clinics and trainings (e.g. ensuring work plans and responsibilities are completed in a timely and concise manner) Work with the Sport For Development Officer to coordinate travel requirements (e.g. flights) of all Right To Play staff, participants and external consultants for a wide variety of Sport For Development events Prepare and distribute any necessary travel documentation to participants (e.g. itineraries, maps, directions) Support the development of programming, schedules and resources needed for the events Coordinate the printing and transport of all documents and materials to support major events and coordinate the purchase of all necessary supplies (including equipment) for major Sport For Development clinics and trainings Assist in liaising with Program Officers and Community Mentors to design sport-based programs that reach a wide range of community mentors and enhance sport skills, life skills and community connections Job Responsibility #2: Support the Delivery of Sport For Development Clinics and Trainings (25% of Time): Travel frequently to support on the ground delivery of Sport For Development clinics and trainings in PLAY partner communities Integrate a variety of events, activities and delivery approaches that ensure the appropriate integration of local culture, parent-to-child connections and inter-generational learning opportunities in all sport-based programs Work with Community Mentors to ensure involvement in all sport-based programs from a widerange of community members and community leaders including, but not limited to: community supervisors, youth workers, teachers, recreation workers, health workers, parents and guardians, elders and members of chief and council Assist the Sport For Development team in overseeing and acting as lead facilitator where applicable during all sport-based programs and trainings. This involves working with the Community Mentor to manage a team of staff, volunteers, consultants and Athlete Ambassadors; hiring external consultants to fulfill required tasks; managing and adapting the schedule as needed; and trouble-shooting and responding to emergencies effectively Job Responsibility #3: Train Team of Program Implementers (20% of Time): Assist in the design of comprehensive and participatory trainings for Athlete Ambassadors, Community Mentors, community volunteers and Right To Play staff that will equip them to effectively plan, lead and assess sport-based programs

3 Assist in the design of tools and resources to help Community Mentors, community volunteers, Athlete Ambassadors and PLAY staff in the implementation of a wide range of sport-based programs (e.g. Hockey, Lacrosse, Soccer, Basketball and Baseball Training) Ensure that cultural sensitivity is embedded in all trainings provided Ensure that Community Mentors are involved in the design of each training and that all trainings reflect adaptations necessary to meet the needs of each specific community. Job Responsibility #4: Monitoring and Evaluation (10% of Time): Work with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer to adapt monitoring and evaluation tools to ensure they are suitable for sport-based programming Integrate a variety of opportunities to gather qualitative and quantitative feedback from all stakeholders during and after each sport-based program Consolidate and analyze all completed monitoring and evaluation tools to draft comprehensive reports on the successes and challenges of each sport-based program Draft concise reports for all funders and partners that reflect the highlights of each program Review and finalize all reports and ensure their timely distribution to all stakeholders Job Responsibility #5: Finance and Administration (10% of Time): Work with the Sport For Development Program Manager, Partnerships Manager, and Finance Manager, Canada Programs to monitor program expenditures against projected spending Support the management of each program s designated budget and consistently track all expenses related to each of the sport-based programming events to help in the cost projections of future events Work to find partners who can offer in-kind contributions that will reduce the costs of all major training and youth gathering events MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (must have): EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION: College Diploma, ongoing or complete in any of the following areas: Education, Social Science (e.g. Sociology, Psychology), Community Services, Child and Youth Worker Class G Driver s License EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth and youth programming Minimum 1 year of experience working directly with First Nation communities Minimum 1 year of experience working with and coaching adults

4 KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Analytical and written skills, including research and writing of proposals and reports Attention to detail in planning large events Comfortable speaking in front of large groups and facilitating to youth Ability to manage budgets Knowledge of completing program reports Able to use data collection tools for program reporting and evaluation COMPETENCIES/PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: Proactive, engaged and a self-starter with an ability to thrive in an environment of change Good team work ethic, and also capable of working independently Highly motivated and committed to program success Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Good organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks Able to work under pressure Keen attention to detail Interested in being part of community development Cross-cultural sensitivity and experience working with a variety of stakeholders LANGUAGES: Fluency in oral and written English Employment Start Date: September Contract Duration: Until March 2019 Compensation: We offer a competitive salary and benefits package including health plan, gym membership, flexible work policy (e.g. work from home and flex hours) and summer/winter hours.
