2 INTRODUCTION The Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) is a professional membership and management development organization committed to the promotion of excellence and integrity in the practice of management. The Institute which was established in 1954 is not only the home of managers but also provides capacity building solutions to organizations in areas of leadership, governance and management. The Institute continues to be a premier catalyst in effective transfer of management and leadership thought, knowledge and practice to all sectors of the Eastern African economies. The mission of the Institute is to steer and champion excellence, integrity and competitiveness in individuals and organizations throughout Africa and beyond. Currently, KIM has over 7,000 Individual Members and 600 Corporate Members. As a membership insitution, KIM has established itself as a formidable world class organization having created a rich niche of membership by engaging its members in relevant programs that contribute to their professional advancement. Our individual and corporate membership comprises of professionals and companies from both the public and private sectors. Individual membership categories are: Fellow, Full Member, Associate Member and Student Member. Our corporate memebership is divided into five levels depending on the size of organisation and senior teams. Our members receive services through our 21 branches countrywide. Applications for membership can be made through your nearest KIM branch. 3 A) 2018 MANAGEMENT FORUMS Held every month, management forums bring together 150 to 200 members on average, to interact with a panel of speakers on topical issues in management, leadership and other relevant social themes.the key objective is to provide members with opportunities for learning, sharing and networking. Members earn two (2) CPD points for every forum attended. 7 CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) GUIDE Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is essential for the learning as professionals develop their abilities to remain effective and aligned in their fields. CPD performs a pivotal role in ensuring that members maintain and develop their skills and knowledge throughout their careers and to adapt positively to changing needs and environments. We encourage you to participate in a programs that are relevant and appropriate to your professional responsibilities and personal development. Planning your CPD helps you become efficient with career progression, and a CPD statement with points earned, provides evidence to yourself and others of your professional development hence increasing your confidence and promoting your professional prowess. In order to achieve the set threshold of 50 CPD points per year: 30 points are earned through programs of education and training therefore STRUCTURED, while 20 must be earned through participation in UNSTRUCTURED activities of the Institute e.g. participating in our CSR activities and fun activities.
