2 Future of UK GAAP The most significant change to UK GAAP in decades arrives this year. Ensuring you have a practical, real-world knowledge of the crucial elements of your new GAAP will help facilitate a smoother and more cost effective transition. The classroom-based courses below have been designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the new requirements and to share in EY s extensive knowledge and experience. FRS 102: key requirements and GAAP differences This one day course reviews the new terminology, reporting requirements and financial statement formats of FRS 102 and is designed for those preparing for its compulsory implementation this year. The transition process requires a detailed understanding of the reporting requirements to ensure that the identification of GAAP differences is complete and the adjustments are correctly calculated. This course shares EY s extensive experience of transition projects to provide practical insight, and an appreciation of the interpretation difficulties when implementing the requirements, alongside delivery of the technical requirements. The day focuses on the key differences compared to current UK GAAP reporting requirements and the main areas of challenge. Illustrations and exercises are used to guide participants through the new requirements and participants are encouraged to ask questions to maximise relevance and understanding. 21 April EY Edinburgh 22 April EY Aberdeen 24 April EY Reading 5 May EY Newcastle 6 May EY Leeds 11 May 18 May EY Glasgow 19 May EY Manchester Testimonials Selection of feedback from our 2014 courses: The course was really focussed and clear. 3 Introduction to IFRS/FRS 101 This two day course provides an introduction to the core International Financial Reporting Standards and is designed for those who are considering adopting full IFRS or FRS 101 as a result of the replacement of UK GAAP. Each of the key standards affecting the preparation and presentation of financial standards will be examined and, through the use of illustrative financial statements and examples, delegates will leave with a working knowledge of IFRS and its differences compared to current UK GAAP. FRS 101 is part of the new UK framework and offers reduced disclosures for qualifying entities applying IFRS. The course will discuss who is eligible and provides a thorough review of the implications of its adoption. 30 April 1 May 7 8 May EY Reading FRS 101/FRS 102: first-time adoption This practical one day course follows on from the two courses above and reviews the first-time adoption requirements, including preparation of the opening balance sheet, restatement of comparatives and understanding the numerous exemptions and exceptions to retrospective application. Disclosure requirements in the first set of new GAAP financial statements, including the reconciliations note, will be explained. A suggested project plan will be outlined, together with the pitfalls to avoid and the documentation expectations of your auditor. The afternoon comprises a detailed case study on first-time adoption, to determine appropriate accounting and tax treatments on transition, identify relevant and beneficial exemptions, calculate and record adjustments, and prepare the reconciliations notes. 23 April EY Aberdeen 20 May EY Reading 4 June 8 June EY Leeds 16 June EY Manchester 18 June EY Edinburgh 19 June EY Glasgow 26 June EY Newcastle Claire is an amazing presenter.
