1 JOB TITLE: Landfill Spotter JOB CODE: 957 DEPARTMENT: Solid Waste Management Landfill Operations Manager PAY GRADE: Grade 8 $19, $32, Annually GENERAL DESCRIPTION: A skilled laborer's position responsible for the monitoring and checking of all refuse loads coming into the active cell at the landfill. Inspects each load for those refuse items not allowed into the active cell or a Class I landfill site. Advises public of any restricted debris and gives instruction as to correct disposal methods available. Operates light equipment as required. Will be required to perform these duties at both the actual working face and at other locations as specified by the Landfill Manager. Furnishes written reports of daily activities and load inspections. Works harmoniously with staff and the general public in performing work duties. Responds productively to change and perform all other related tasks as required and as directed. This is a Disaster Essential position. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the governmental rules and regulations pertaining to the disposal of solid waste. Ability to operate light automotive equipment. Ability to understand, communicate and carry out both written and oral instructions. Skill and ability in dealing with members of the general public in an occasional adversarial situation. Skill in the operation of construction equipment. Ability to operate equipment over rough terrain. Ability to perform manual laboring tasks under adverse weather conditions. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS: Continuous use of both hands and feet with dexterity. Good hand-eye coordination. Continuous use of both near and far vision. Frequent standing and walking, including over uneven or soft surfaces. Able to lift up to 40 lbs. Must be able to sustain up to two continuous hours of strenuous physical activity including bending, stooping and lifting. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Continuous outdoor work in a dusty environment. Hazards associated with proximity to heavy equipment. Possible exposure to hazardous wastes which may be present in the solid waste stream.

2 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: No direct authority. An individual filling this position should enjoy working in the outdoors and not be intimidated by a dusty environment. This person should also enjoy meeting and dealing with the general public. 1. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency certificate. Must attend or have attended training at the University of Florida Center for Training, Research and Education for Environmental Occupations. Possession of, or ability to obtain, required certification for both landfill spotter and load checking programs in accordance with regulations as established by the Department of Environmental Protection. 2. 3 JOB TITLE: Library Assistant I JOB CODE: 423 DEPARTMENT: County Library County Library Director PAY GRADE: Grade 8 $19, $32, annually GENERAL DESCRIPTION: A semi-skilled administrative position responsible for providing clerical assistance and service support for a public library system. Sorts and shelves books and other items according to pre-established classifications and codes. Issues and receives library materials such as books, films, audio-visual devices, records and tapes. Records information identifying data and due dates either by hand or other automated equipment in order to accurately issue and expect return of materials. Operates and uses various computer systems and programs associated with library functions. Inspects returned books and material for damage. Verifies due-date and computes, receives and records overdue fines. Reviews records and compiles lists of overdue charge-outs and issues overdue notices to borrowers. Assumes responsibility for the operation of the library in the librarian's absence. Responds productively to change and performs all other related tasks as required and as directed. 5 JOB TITLE: DEPARTMENT: OPS Recycling Technician Recycling Recycling Program Manager and/or Recycling Technician II GENERAL DESCRIPTION: A skilled equipment operator/laborer position responsible for quality control in the sorting and grading including the unloading, processing and shipment of various recycling materials received by the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF). Operates Bobcat loader, roll-off truck, vertical bailer and other equipment as assigned or required for processing or sorting materials. Trains and assists work release and other personnel assigned to processing various types of recyclables. Ensures proper sorting of goods to achieve maximum revenue yields. Acid tests material to determine separation of paper grades. Transports personnel to and from job site with County vehicles. Assists Recycling Technician III as needed to coordinate material shipments. Works harmoniously with coworkers, supervisors and the public. Reacts to change productively and performs other tasks as directed or assigned. Staff are required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and as needed for various assignments. 10 JOB TITLE: Traffic Technician I JOB CODE: 988 DEPARTMENT: PAY GRADE: Traffic Operations Traffic Operations Supervisor Grade 11 $22, $37, annually GENERAL DESCRIPTION: A semi skilled position responsible for the construction, fabrication, repair and installation of traffic control devices. Assists in the fabrication, maintenance, inspection and installation of traffic control devices. Helps to generate or design approved and custom traffic & information signs on computerized sign maker and on occasion cuts out letters and symbols used in reflectorized signs and applies to sign substrate. Installs and maintains traffic control devices in the field. Uses hand tools, post hole diggers and performs cement work in the erection of any approved traffic control device. Assembles other traffic safety warning devices to secure a work or hazard area. Installs and maintains temporary and permanent traffic control devices as per latest versions of Florida Department of Transportation Manuals and Federal Highway Administrations Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices Handbook. Directs, flags or otherwise routes traffic through or around work areas when required. This position is subject to emergency call-out normally on a scheduled basis.
