1 EXTERNAL ADVERT Job Title: Contract: Hours: Salary: Location: Wholetime Firefighter Fixed term for the period 1 st April 2017 to 31 st March 2018 after which time the organisational need will be reviewed 42 hours per week Firefighter - based on NJC national occupational pay rates Any location within the Brigade area Cleveland Fire Brigade are now recruiting Wholetime Firefighters. This is an exciting opportunity for skilled personnel with recent fire and rescue service experience to join the Brigade for a fixed term period of 12 months. Applications are invited from candidates who are qualified to, or working towards Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Emergency Fire Service Operations in the Community and who have recent experience of undertaking a firefighting role. We are looking for people to work across all locations within the Cleveland Fire Brigade area therefore the ability to work flexibly and coherently as part of a team is a must. Individuals must also be enthusiastic and self-motivated. Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate skills & competence aligned to a firefighting role across a range of incident types which includes the use of a range of equipment and PPE, including Breathing Apparatus. An LGV driving licence with EFAD qualification would be desirable but is not essential. 2 Personal Role Profile Role Title: Firefighter Reporting To: Crew Manager Location: Various Brigade Sites Role/Grade: Firefighter Purpose of Role: To save life, protect property, render humanitarian services and to protect the environment from damage Key Responsibilities 1. Create and maintain a good working relationship with colleagues and contribute to decision making for the effectiveness of the team 2. Take part in Personal Development Reviews and complete Personal Development Records in accordance with Brigade procedure. 3. Take responsibility for personal performance and attend training programmes to support development and maintenance of competence, as required, to meet organisational objectives. 4. Support colleagues to maintain the required standard which may include any specialist activities, specialist appliances or equipment 5. Undertake Community Fire Safety and Fire Safety visits and carry out local and Brigade initiatives as requested 6. Attend operational incidents as part of a team in accordance with Brigade policy 7. Monitor, test and record equipment and resources to maintain operational readiness and to update all related records, which will include completion of defect notes, computerised records and any other records 8. Liaise with key agencies both at incidents and through Community Safety initiatives 9. Support managers to ensure the efficient running of the station and effective service delivery 10. Contribute to projects as identified through the Brigade Plan and provide reports as required 11. Support and promote equality and diversity, respect and dignity for all staff and members of our local communities in line with Brigade policy. 12.
