1 POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: Vice President, Student & Enrollment Services CATEGORY: Administrative FLSA STATUS: Exempt GRADE: G JOB SUMMARY: Serve as a member of the President s Cabinet with executive responsibility for the planning, management and evaluation of student services that support the accomplishment of the District s Mission, Vision, Core Values and the continuation of the District s accreditation status. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Serve as chief student services officer for a five campus district; develop and supervise programs of the highest quality for recruitment, financial aid, enrollment services, career services, and safety of students, as well as programs to provide extra-curricular activities, athletics and recreational events, and opportunities to participate in institutional governance and leadership. 2. Oversee all functions associated with recruitment, outreach and transition services, admissions and records, testing, college readiness, orientation, financial aid, dual credit & early college high school programs, disability services, graduation, leadership and campus life and the police department; develop and implement the enrollment management plan for the institution. 3. Maintain student-centered philosophy and focus on student development initiatives for successful student outcomes including enrollment, program selection, retention, graduation, placement, and transfer success; foster innovation in providing access to quality services throughout the district by effectively utilizing technology and other human resources; oversee Commencement ceremonies for the District. 4. Assess and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of all student services and development programs; promote cooperation, collaboration, and partnerships with public schools throughout the District as well as with other institutions of higher education. 5. Review, develop, maintain, and administer policies and procedures related to student services and development; oversee student discipline and enforcement of student code of conduct. 6. Represent the College in the community as well as at state and national levels in matters relating to enrollment management, student development, and student success. 7. Ensure appropriateness of systems supporting compliance functions and monitor compliance with state, and federal regulations reporting requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. 5% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: President of the College SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises Student & Enrollment Service Executive Directors, Directors, Administrators and other staff members in Student and Enrollment Services departments and programs. BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES: Departmental Budgets. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Master s degree in a directly related field required. Doctorate strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership abilities evidenced by related positions in higher education with community college experience preferred. EPERIENCE: Twelve (12) years increasingly responsible administrative experience, including managerial and supervisory experience in an academic setting. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Ability to be a team player and work collaboratively with all divisions of the institution; Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in the implementation of change with focus on quality and student success; Strong commitment to provide exemplary student services and maintain standards of quality and integrity for all student support services programs; Demonstrated leadership abilities evidenced by increasing levels of responsibility in higher education with community college experience preferred; Effective communication, problem solving, interpersonal and mediation skills; Demonstrated ability to manage human and fiscal resources; Ability to lead development of new and effective student support services programs; Ability to work effectively within a diverse, multi-cultural setting serving a multicampus/center environment; Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents; Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints; Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style; Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and boards of directors; Amended: 6/01/09 & 06/21/11 & 8/2/16 Page 2 of 5

3 Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; Knowledge of Texas and Federal laws and regulations related to education in general and community colleges specifically; Remain current with educational trends, issues and challenges for community colleges. 2. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, , and presentation software.
