2 Welcome to your Heath & Safety Pathway booklet. this is a manager s guide to the Health & Safety training and development opportunities within Savills Property Management. Savills training department, Savills Pathways, are committed to providing training of the highest quality to ensure all staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake their role to the best of their ability. In turn this will ensure all Savills managed properties meet the Health & Safety standards on site. Your Health & Safety Pathway will be delivered in partnership with IOSH and NEBOSH which will provide you with a recognised qualification in Health & Safety valid for 3 years. HEALTH & SAFETY ROLES Controller Implementer Deputy Site Staff Has overall and ultimate responsibility for the Health & Safety of the property and people employed and impacted by its activities Ensures day to day compliance of the property including contractor management, ensuring statutory checks and documentation are in place and the safety of employees, tenants, visitors and other people. 5 IOSH Safety Leadership NEBOSH Cost: am till 1.30pm Surveyors, Senior Managers, Centre Directors/Managers To deliver an overview of H&S responsibilities to Directors, Surveyors and Senior Managers. To highlight the responsibilities that lie with individuals in these roles and how these fit into the wider business. To make Directors, Surveyors and Senior Managers aware of the current arrangements for H&S within Property Management. Give details of who can provide help with H&S within property management To raise awareness of What could go wrong and What has gone wrong To focus on reputation management and consideration of Client requirements in relation to our H&S responsibilities Recognise the importance of integrating health and safety objectives with other business objectives Take account of health and safety aspects during strategic planning, decision-making and effective supply chain management; Understand the principles of health and safety management, the importance of continual improvement, and the role of safety auditing within the organisation and to know where to find relevant health and safety policies and procedures Relate compliance on site to the role of senior managers and their responsibilities for resolving problems such as funding issues. Link to cost/benefit model and reduction in insurance premiums. Use of case studies from events on Savills sites. Make the link between H&S and fire, asbestos, legionella etc. 10 Days RFMs, other staff with express approval of surveyor To build upon knowledge and enable effective management of risk to: Understand the organisation of health and safety, the influence of culture and the human factors which influence behaviour. Understand the legal framework for health and safety and roles and responsibilities, including clients andcontractors. Identify the key elements of health and safety management systems. Identify a wide range of workplace hazards and their effective measures, including violence, substances, manual handling, safe movement of people, work at height and the work of contractors. Understand the principles and options for active and reactive monitoring, auditing, accident investigation and reviewing performance. Understand the hazards and control measures in relation to workplace transport including safe driving. Understand the safe selection and use of work equipment and measures to minimise hazards. Understand the hazards in relation to electrical safety, noise, vibration, radiation and basic control measures. 6 IOSH (SHE) Managing Safety for Property Managers IOSH Working Safely for Supervisors Cost: 5 days 9.30am 4.30pm 780 London venues 700 Manchester and Scotland venues H&S Implementers To provide the required knowledge to those who ensure day to day compliance of the property. This will include: To know what is meant by the terms hazard and risk To evaluate risk using a structured risk assessment approach To identify and implement appropriate workplace precautions for specific risks or seek advice on workplace precautions To be involved in preparing written risk assessments To be able to complete effective record keeping to meet Savills policies and processes To cooperate and communicate on health and safety matters To maintain the day to day safety of employees, tenants, visitors and other people To report relevant accidents and incidents To identify methods of monitoring how safe their workplaces are To explain and understand Savills contractor management and permit to work processes To understand statutory checks and the roles and responsibilities in managing safety on site on a day to day basis and how to practically achieve this. Use of case studies from actual events on Savills sites. Include external audits/assessments and closing actions. 7 Cost: IOSH Working Safely 9.30am 4.30pm 150 All venues Cleaning and security staff The aim of this course is to give customer service, cleaning and security staff an awareness and understanding of the health, safety, and welfare standards that must be achieved and maintained at the managed properties where they work so they can understand where their role fits into the overall management of the property, in order that they can ensure their own safety and protect the safety of others. Introducing Working Safely Defining Hazard and Risk Identifying Common Hazards Improving Safety Performance Protecting your environment Cost: IOSH (SHE) Managing Safety for Property Managers Annual Refresher 9.30am 4.30pm 195 London Venues 175 Manchester and Scotland venues H&S Implementers To update the required knowledge for those who ensure day to day compliance of the property. This will include: To review Savills contractor management and permit to work processes and highlight any events or changes in the last 12 months. To review Savills processes in relation to statutory checks To review record keeping to meet Savills policies and processes To maintain day to day safety of employees, tenants, visitors and other people To review roles and responsibilities in managing safety on site on a day to day basis Use case studies, accident data from real events on Savills managed sites during the previous twelve months Cover changes in relevant legislation and HSE guidance and what needs to be done practically HEALTH AND SAFETY PATHWAY HEALTH AND SAFETY PATHWAY

Your account will allow you access to the latest Heath & Safety training. When you log on there will be a tailored training plan waiting for you and you will be sent new subjects each month to ensure you keep your knowledge up to date (please note completion is compulsory). The link to the Heath & Safety Training e-learning system can be found on the Dashboard Training Page. As this is a internet site it can be accessed on any PC using your user name and password.
