Polytechnic West (PWA) has established itself as a leading provider of vocational education and training (VET) in Western Australia and a key contributor to improving the skill level and productivity of the Australian workforce and the social and economic wellbeing of individuals. Our strategic plan titled Your Future Our Business, reflects PWA s key strength in developing high quality graduates equipped with the right skills, knowledge and attributes to make a positive future impact. Through strong education, community and industry partnerships we are committed to supporting individuals to reach their personal, educational and career goals and providing workforce development solutions to build productivity and innovation of businesses. Our goal is to be the first choice provider of applied tertiary education and training pathways and workforce development solutions in Western Australia. Providing streamlined pathways from VET into Higher Education through the delivery of vocationally focused and applied qualifications in areas of strong economic and social need. Our strategic plan targets the development of five areas of PWA advantage which are: Tertiary education and training linked to local and global workforce needs Flexible and responsive student centred learning and service provision Innovative workforce development solutions and partnerships Community access, participation and development Engaged and capable staff. We are committed to enhancing the workforce development solutions for employers and learning experiences for individuals by offering the highest quality teaching and learning facilities, developing innovative and flexible approaches, and ensuring the employability and lifelong learning capability of our graduates. We will strengthen our capabilities in technology enhanced learning and service provision, and in research and scholarship as well as continuing to develop new training programs and learning experiences which meet future workforce needs. Provide quality, flexible teaching and assessment services and business services which enhance achievement and outcomes. Maintain industry current training facilities and technology infrastructure to support flexible access and collaborative learning spaces. Increase opportunities for students to engage in workplace based projects or live works. Monitor student satisfaction and outcomes and strengthen continuous improvement processes. Enhance the responsiveness of training delivery for apprentices and trainees. Research local, national and global workforce development trends to improve the alignment of our products and services. Streamline and enhance administrative and communication processes for employers of apprentices and trainees. Design and manage integrated technology enhanced learning solutions Develop the capabilities of lecturing, student support and administration staff in new technologies and practices. Adapt business systems to support the use of new learning technologies. Review current business processes and systems to identify opportunities to improve customer service using online services, including the use of mobile technology. Establish partnerships with employers, government agencies and communities to strengthen transition to higher qualifications or employment by Aboriginal students and students with a disability. Support students to broaden their skills, complete their course and be industry ready to build their employment opportunities.
