6 BUSINESS LEVEL 2 BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR (LEVEL 2) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME AVAILABLE Business and Administration Diploma Framework (level 2). PROGRESSION There is the opportunity to progress to Business and Administration Apprenticeship (level 3) upon completion. 2, year. For any learner who does not currently hold a GCSE/O level grade A-D in English, ICT and mathematics there is a requirement to undertake an equivalent level 1 Functional Skills qualification. The Business and Administration Apprenticeship is designed for learners who work in an administrative environment. It provides learners with the opportunity to develop and demonstrate competence and to develop technical skills, knowledge and understanding related to their specific roles within their job role. There is the opportunity for learners to cover units specialising in areas such as producing documents, storing and retrieving information, making and receiving telephone calls, using a diary system, handling mail and providing reception services. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE Delivered as an Apprenticeship Framework, there is no requirement for day release to college. The qualification is delivered entirely within the workplace over a 12 month period through workplace visits every 4-6 weeks. 8 BUSINESS LEVEL 3 BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (LEVEL 3) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME AVAILABLE Business & Administration BIIAB Diploma Standard (level 3). PROGRESSION There is the opportunity to progress to Business and Administration Apprenticeship (level 4) upon completion. 5, year. For any learner who does not currently hold a GCSE/O level grade A-C, in English, ICT and mathematics there is a requirement to undertake an equivalent level 2 Functional Skills qualification. The level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship is designed for business professionals across all sectors, including public, private and charitable. The role contributes to the efficiency of the organisation, influencing the customer experience and with a focus on adding value, ensures that highly transferable skills are used effectively. They undertake to provide excellent support and engage with different parts of their organisation, using their flexibility and responsiveness to manage priorities and resolve problems. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE The course provides a programme of study that encompasses both competence and technical elements of effective business administration. The period of learning, development and continuous assessment is managed both by the employer and the delivery provider- who work closely together to deliver effective support and training. The training and delivery will focus on key knowledge skills and behaviours including record and document production, decision making, interpersonal skills and project management. 9 BUSINESS LEVEL 4 BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR (LEVEL 4) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME AVAILABLE Business & Administration BIIAB Diploma Framework (level 4). PROGRESSION There is the opportunity to complete an HND in Business (level 5) upon achievement. 4, years. You will need to have a sufficient level of literacy in order to understand and fulfil the theoretical knowledge components of this qualification. Previous achievement of a level 3 Apprenticeship is desirable and/or evidence of extensive work at level 3 to ensure successful completion of the higher level Apprenticeship. In order to benefit from and achieve this qualification learners are required to be working in an office environment as you will be required to show competence in both knowledge and skills. The Business and Administration level 4 programme is designed for those learners with significant experience in a business administration/office management role. Entrants come from a diverse range of backgrounds and will come with a range of experience, age, personal achievements and, in some cases, prior qualifications and awards which may count towards the achievement of an Apprenticeship programme. Examples include learners who have: Significant experience in a business role Achieved a foundation or higher diploma, particularly the related diplomas in business Administration and finance, retail business, information technology or public services Achieved GCSEs or A levels Achieved QCF awards, certificates or diplomas Completed a level 3 advanced Apprenticeship from another sector. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE The qualification is constructed of mandatory and optional units, through on site delivery and assessor visits every 4 6 weeks learners will develop the technical skills, knowledge and understanding related to their specific job role within Business Administration and assessment is through a range of methods including direct observation, professional discussion, reflection on own practice and theory based units. Employers must allow time for the Assessor to observe learners in their role and provide support and feedback on work submitted while in the workplace. As well as the 4 mandatory units as follows; Resolve Administrative Problems Manage the Work of an Administrative Function Communicate in a Business Environment Manage Personal and Professional Development. PROGRESSION There is the opportunity to progress to Medical Administration Apprenticeship (level 3) upon completion. 1, year. For any learner who does not currently hold a GCSE/O level grade A-E, in English, ICT and mathematics there is a requirement to undertake an equivalent level 1 Functional Skills qualification. The level 2 Apprenticeship in Medical Administration is designed for learners who work in a medical support role in the public or private sector. This can include receptionists, medical secretaries and health care assistants. It provides the opportunity to demonstrate competence and to develop technical skills, knowledge and understanding related to specific roles within the sector. There is the opportunity for learners to cover units specialising in areas such as working in the NHS, medical terminology, medical principles for the administrator and communication skills in a medical environment. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE The level 2 Apprenticeship is completed over a 12 month period, through regular workplace visits every 4-6 weeks. Assessors visit the learner in their place of work to conduct observations with the agreement of the employer. 11 BUSINESS LEVEL 3 MEDICAL ADMINISTRATOR (LEVEL 3) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME AVAILABLE Medical Administration City & Guilds Diploma Framework (level 3). PROGRESSION There is the opportunity to progress to Business and Administration Apprenticeship (level 4) upon completion. 2, year. For any learner who does not currently hold a GCSE/O level grade A-C, in English, ICT and mathematics there is a requirement to undertake an equivalent level 2 Functional Skills qualification. The level 3 Apprenticeship in Medical Administration is designed for learners who work in a medical support role in the public or private sector. This can include receptionists, medical secretaries and healthcare assistants, supervisors or managers. It provides the opportunity to demonstrate competence and to develop technical skills, knowledge and understanding related to specific roles within the sector. There is the opportunity for learners to cover units specialising in areas such as medical administration, medical word processing, production of medical documents from recorded speech and managing communication in a medical environment. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE The level 3 Apprenticeship is completed over an 18 month period, through regular workplace visits every 4-6 weeks. Assessors visit the learner in their place of work to conduct observations with the agreement of the employer. 12 CUSTOMER SERVICES LEVEL 2 CUSTOMER SERVICE PRACTITIONER (LEVEL 2) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME AVAILABLE Customer Service Practitioner Standard (level 2). PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION LINKS Completion of this Apprenticeship will lead to eligibility to join the Institute of Customer Service as an individual member at professional level. This Apprenticeship Standard has been allocated a maximum funding cap of 4,000 which is the full cost of delivering this standard and includes the end point assessment. Minimum 1 year. For any learner who does not currently hold a GCSE/O level A-C grades or 9-4, in English and mathematics there is a requirement to undertake an equivalent level 2 Functional Skills qualification. Our programme is designed to equip employees with the skills to deliver high-quality customer experience in line with a business s brand promise, and by improving the overall customer satisfaction. The programme will provide the training to develop excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to them and the business. In addition, personal organisation, presentation, self-development and team working will be key areas developed to drive quality and consistency through the service given to customers. The course provides a programme of study that encompasses both competence and technical elements of effective service provision. It is completed through regular workplace visits every 4-6 weeks. 14 CUSTOMER SERVICES LEVEL 3 CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST (LEVEL 3) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME AVAILABLE Customer Service Specialist Standard (level 3). PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION LINKS Completion of this Apprenticeship will lead to eligibility to join the Institute of Customer Service as an individual member at professional level PROGRESSION There is the opportunity to progress to a Business or Team Leading Apprenticeship upon completion. 4, months. Employers will set their own entry requirements, but it is expected that the individual would have worked within a customer service role to start on this Apprenticeship Standard. The Level 3 Customer Service Specialist Apprenticeship is designed for service professionals from a wide range of organisations including contact centres, retail, service industries or any customer service point. It will support learners to provide a quality service, & act as an advocate for professional excellence. As part of their role they undertake to deal with complex or technical customer requests, complaints and queries, often seen as an escalation point for complicated or on-going problems. They have a passion for service, and as an expert in their field, share their knowledge with the wider team and colleagues. They are able to analyse and present data that influences change and effect improvements. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE The qualification is delivered as an Apprenticeship Standard over an 18 month period through on and off-the-job training, with regular tutor visits to the workplace. On completion of the study programme, end point assessment is undertaken in 3 separate stages: Practical observation with Q&As Work-based project supported by an interview Professional discussion supported by portfolio evidence. 14 dudleycol.ac.uk/employers

15 IT LEVEL 2 IT APPLICATION SPECIALIST (LEVEL 2) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME AVAILABLE ITQ Certificate Framework (level 2). PROGRESSION There is the opportunity to progress to the IT Application Specialist Apprenticeship (level 3) upon completion. 2, year. Prior to enrolment learners must complete BKSB initial assessments and achieve a satisfactory level. Learners must be contracted to work a minimum of 30 hours per week. For any learner who does not currently hold a GCSE grades A-C or 9-4 in English and mathematics, there is a requirement to undertake an equivalent level 1 Functional Skills qualification, while the ICT Functional Skill will need to be undertaken at level 2. The ITQ level 2 Certificate is designed for learners who work in roles such as advanced IT clerk, website technician, website administrator, data administrator and digital assistant, support technician or network administrator. There are other administrative and clerical job roles that do not refer to IT in their job title but still involve the use of IT every day and these would also be suitable. It provides learners the opportunity to develop and demonstrate competence within their roles and to develop technical skills, knowledge and understanding related the use of IT in their specific job role. Learners have the choice to cover units specialising in areas such as spreadsheet software, word processing software, presentation software, using and a variety of other software packages. This qualification is supported by The Tech Partnership, the Sector Skills Council for the Digital Sector. 16 IT LEVEL 2 IT, WEB AND TELECOMS (LEVEL 2) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME AVAILABLE IT, Web and Telecoms Technical Certificate Framework (level 2). Only available as a day release programme. PROGRESSION There is the opportunity to complete an IT Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals level 3 upon successful achievement. 4,000 1 year. For any learner who does not currently hold a GCSE grade A-E or 9-5 in English, ICT and mathematics, there is a requirement to undertake an equivalent level 1 Functional Skills qualification. This Apprenticeship is suitable for: Support technicians, website administrators, helpdesk professionals and field operations (line installer and repairer). This Apprenticeship consists of three elements of training which combine to make up this level 2 framework, these are: 1. A Technical Certificate to develop and expand the knowledge your apprentice requires for their job role. For this Apprenticeship this is the level 2 Award in ICT Systems and Principles 2. A Competence qualification which focuses on the practical aspects of your employee s role. For this Apprenticeship this is level 2 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals 3. Functional Skills to develop your apprentice s mathematics, English and Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills further if required. For this Apprenticeship these are mathematics level 1, English level 1and ICT level 1. ASSESSMENT The Technical Certificate is a 2 unit qualification with a classroom based practical assessments. The Competence Qualification uses a mixture of observation, discussion, examples of work, witness testimony and questioning compiled by the apprentice and the assessor to show that the apprentice has the underpinning knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to do their job. The Assessor will keep you updated on your apprentice s progress at the end of every visit if required. Functional Skills are assessed by examinations, with a separate exam for mathematics, English and ICT. Once your apprentice is ready to be assessed, they can come into college or arrange to take their tests in the workplace. 17 IT LEVEL 3 IT, WEB AND TELECOMS (LEVEL 3) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME AVAILABLE IT, Web and Telecoms Technical Certificate Framework (level 3). Only available as a day release programme. PROGRESSION There is the opportunity to complete an HNC in Computing upon successful achievement. 9, year. For any learner who does not currently hold a GCSE grades A-C or 9-4 in English and mathematics, there is a requirement to undertake an equivalent level 2 Functional Skills qualification. Training is delivered through a mix of college-based training and workbased assessments which are pre-planned and flexible to comply with your business needs. This training includes: A Technical Certificate - Attend college-based classes and access the college s on-line learning environment where specially prepared learning materials are available 24/7. A Competence Qualification - Our assessors will visit your workplace to observe candidates undertaking their normal on-the-job duties, and from this a work-based assessment will be made. The assessor will develop an action plan to show what units are being studied, what evidence needs to be prepared, as well as the time and date of the assessor s visits. Functional Skills - College attendance is necessary for individual learners, but in-company delivery is available for groups of learners. For any learner who does not currently hold a GCSE grades A-C 9-4 in English, ICT and mathematics, there is a requirement to undertake an equivalent level 2 Functional Skills qualification. 19 IT LEVEL 3 IT INFRASTRUCTURE TECHNICIAN (LEVEL 3) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME AVAILABLE IT Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship Standard (level 3). Only available as a day release programme. PROGRESSION There is the opportunity to complete an HNC in Computing upon successful achievement. 15,000 1 year. Employers will set their own entry requirements, but it is expected that the individual would have worked within an IT role to start on this Apprenticeship Standard. The level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship is designed for technology professionals who provide support by using tools to problem solve and trouble shoot non-routine activities. They set people up on systems, offering guidance where needed, ensuring productivity is maintained. The course is suitable for learners in roles such as Help Desk Technician, First or Second Line Support, IT Infrastructure Technician and those offering Network Support. ASSESSMENT The course provides a programme of study that encompasses both competence & technical elements of infrastructure support. It offers the opportunity to gain highly recognised qualifications, including CompTIA A+ and a variety of Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) modules, including Mobility & Devices Fundamentals, Cloud Fundamentals & Software Development Fundamentals. The level 3 Apprenticeship is completed through a combination of regular workplace visits - assessors visit the learner in their place of work every 4-6 weeks, with the agreement of the employer and regular attendance in college to support the completion of the knowledge based components. dudleycol.ac.uk/employers 19

20 ACCOUNTING LEVEL 2 ACCOUNTING (LEVEL 2) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME AVAILABLE AAT Accounting Framework (level 2). Only available as a day release programme. The funding value of this qualification is 2,000. Funding for this qualification is dependent on the levy paying status on the employer. 1 year. Learning is delivered over a 12 month period through a day release model. Delivery is either on an evening or during the day, one day a week for the academic year September to June. Units covered include Processing Book-keeping Transactions, Control Accounts, Journals and the Banking Systems, Basic Costing, Work Effectively in Accounting and Finance and Computerised Accounts. Learners will be working towards their level 2 AAT Certificate in Accounting during their day release. For those learners who do not holds exemptions then level 1 Functional Skills in English and mathematics will also form part of the qualification. Employers will set their own entry requirements, but it is expected that the individual would have worked within a customer service role to start on this Apprenticeship Standard. 20 dudleycol.ac.uk/employers

21 ACCOUNTING LEVEL 3 ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT (LEVEL 3) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME AVAILABLE AAT Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Standard (level 3). Only available as a day release programme. This Apprenticeship Standard has been allocated a maximum funding cap of 9,000 which is the full cost of delivering this standard and includes end point assessment months. Individual employers set the selection criteria, but this is likely to include 5 GCSEs, including English and mathematics, although some employers will accept other relevant qualifications and experience, including a relevant level 2 qualification. Apprentices without English and mathematics at level 2 must achieve this prior to taking the end point assessment. An Assistant Accountant provides support to internal and external customers and will work predominately either as an assistant accountant within practice or alternatively within the finance function of an organisation. Part of their role will involve assisting in the day to day financial activities such as data entry to month end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements. In addition the Assistant Accountant may find themselves involved in regulatory financial requirements such as the completion of VAT returns or assisting in the preparation of tax computations. The apprentice will learn: Accountancy principles - including ethical standards, integrity, professional reputation and transparency Business awareness - including adding value, business strategy and customer and supplier needs Using accountancy tools and data - including analysing financial data and using payroll, purchasing and sales systems Financial accounting and reporting - including accounts preparation, double-entry bookkeeping, taxation and final accounts and reports Management accounting - including income and expenditure and planning and control Communications - including interpersonal, written and verbal skills for internal and external customers Learners will be working towards their level 2 AAT Certificate in Accounting during their day release. PROGRESSION As well as ensuring full competency as an Assistant Accountant, this standard provides the foundation for progression into a number of career paths in the Accounting sector including Audit Trainee, Corporate Recovery Analyst, Credit Controller or Tax Accountant. dudleycol.ac.uk/employers 21

24 LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT LEVEL 3 TEAM LEADER/SUPERVISOR (LEVEL 3) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME AVAILABLE CMI Team Leader/Supervisor Standard (level 3). PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION LINKS On completion, apprentices may choose to register as Associate members with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Institute of Leadership & Management, to support their professional career development and progression. Our programme is designed to provide participants with the communication and motivational skills needed to improve operational efficiency. The programme will cover a variety of topics allowing managers to support, manage and develop both themselves and their teams. They will learn to manage projects, plan and monitor workloads and resources, deliver business plans, resolve problems and make decisions. Apprentices without level 2 English and mathematics will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment. PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION LINKS On completion, apprentices can register as full members of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and/or the Institute of Leadership & Management, and those with 3 years of management experience can apply for the Chartered Manager status through the CMI. Our programme is designed to equip managers with the skills needed to manage resources, recruitment and information management. The programme will cover a variety of topics allowing managers to contribute to, and create, strategic plans alongside the creation and development of business plans which will be integral to your business s performance. 27 Funding HOW EMPLOYERS CAN FUND APPRENTICESHIPS: DUDLEY COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY ALSO OFFERS ENTRY LEVEL, INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED APPRENTICESHIPS FOR ALL BUSINESSES COVERING: Large employers With a pay bill in excess of 3m: You can pay for the Apprenticeships you want using the funds in your Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) Account. Small to medium sized employers (SME s), with a pay bill of less than 3m: You pay 10% towards the cost of the Apprenticeship and the Government will pay the remaining 90%. Employers with fewer than 50 employees If you take on a new recruit aged years old, the Apprenticeship will be fully funded by the Government. Such employers taking on or training 19+ year old apprentices will be required to contribute 10% of the cost of the Apprenticeship.
