2 Job Description Job Title: Network Administrator Work Site: Campbell River and Courtenay JJEP Benchmark: Exempt Grid Level: Reports To: Manager of Finance and Administration Prepared Date: March 28, 2018 Approved By: Executive Director Approved Date: March 29, 2018 Revised & Approved by Executive Director: Reviewed: Summary The network administrator is responsible for the operations of the server, storage, virtual network, and backup technologies. This position troubleshoots and supports user requirements, provides technical expertise and resolutions within a complex network environment and is part of team that has responsibility for the day-to-day operation of John Howard infrastructure and network environment, including data communications, server configuration, administration, capacity planning, and performing software upgrades/installation. Key Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other related duties may be assigned. Manage Windows server. Maintain DHCP, DNS, and active directory. Manage hyper-v virtual servers including Windows and Linux systems which support Moodle and WordPress webserver. Manage Exchange server 2013 or higher. Manage software deployment packages such as (but not limited to) Sage 300 ERP, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and HRMS. Be able to perform adequate cabling and infrastructure modifications and new installations. Maintain Ubiquity wireless networks surveillance systems.

3 Maintain and ensure accurate daily and monthly backups to site Drobos. Maintain VPN s between multiple locations. Basic knowledge of HTML and IOS. Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience Grade 12 plus post-secondary courses in information technology and/or computer science. 4 years recent related experience, which should include: Experience and demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills in current virtual technologies, concepts and virtual practices, managing storage platforms, data and infrastructure backup practices and tools, as well as network and connectivity management. Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally; solid language and grammatical skills. Demonstrated ability to work constructively and co-operatively in an office setting both independently and as a team member. Ability to organize and prioritize work and to independently carry out the duties of the position. Proven skills in managing and maintaining office technology and software as well as a willingness to learn new technology and software, including complex telephone systems, fax machines, computer networks, , internet and software such as Microsoft Office. Ability to deal effectively, either in person, or over the phone, with individuals who are sometimes frustrated. Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Other Job Requirements Two completed, acceptable criminal record checks, one from the Criminal Records Review and one from the RCMP.
