1 COMMUNICATIONS & CONTENT PRODUCER POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Responsible To: Council Program: Communications & Content Producer Communications & Digital Marketing Consultant Marketing & Communications Classification Level: Salaried, Level 5 Overview of Program The Marketing & Communications Program helps Council to deliver services to the city that enhance liveability, improve prosperity and stimulate economic growth by seeking community input into decisions and communicating the benefits of being a Smart, Green, Liveable and Creative city. The Marketing & Communications Program will also deliver an authentic and highly effective marketing and brand strategy that improves the City s brand, reputation and experience for the benefit of our ratepayers, city users and the wider community. 2 As part of the Marketing & Communications Program the Communications & Content Producer will: Primary Purpose Create and produce marketing and communications content for a wide range of channels, in line with the marketing and brand strategies. Assist with the development and implementation of communication strategies, content plans & calendars, social media and public relations activity targeted at the City of Adelaide key market segments. Maintain and update the brand and organisational web, digital and social media platforms and manage responsibility for City of Adelaide blogs. Operating across a range of mediums the Communications & Content Producer is responsible for: Developing content calendars, content plans and creating engaging content and PR stories for brand and marketing activities and campaigns across all City of Adelaide communication channels including direct, digital, EDM, and print. Developing and overseeing brand and organisational social media activities including monitoring, posting and scheduling of communication messages. Analysing and interpreting brand marketing data and statistics and reporting as necessary. Responsibilities Writing creative, engaging and interesting stories for use across a range of marketing and communications channels in support of the marketing and brand strategy and aligned to Council s Strategic Plan themes. Copywriting and editing high quality content across a range of mediums including websites, blogs, brochures, magazines, advertisements, digital newsletters, print, posters, planning/strategy documents and on line channels. Edit web pages with CMS editors and basic HTML 5 (HTML, CSS and JavaScript). Maintaining the brand integrity of the CoA websites and digital assets including images, videos and other media. Collecting information, maintain and update data bases and provide administrative support to the Communications and Digital Marketing Consultant as required. Editing and proofreading all marketing and communications collateral, as guided by relevant style guides. 4 Selection Criteria Candidates should ensure that their application clearly demonstrates their ability to meet the Criteria detailed below. Qualifications A tertiary qualification in Business Management, Marketing, Communication, Digital Marketing, Public Relations, Arts, Journalism or related field and/or significant demonstrated experience in lieu of formal qualifications. People Management Ability to be collaborative, enabling and solution oriented. Financial Skills & Acumen Ability to understand broad financial impacts within project scope. Technical Knowledge & Experience Project Management Demonstrated experience in copywriting with the outcome effective storytelling and connection with audience. A sound understanding of best practice communications processes and practices. Working knowledge of marketing principles and practices to also include digital marketing, content planning, PR and communications strategies. Strong writing and editing skills and being able to adapt to various target audiences and for a range of purposes including publications, web and reports. Ability to recognise potential news angles and write copy accordingly. Ability to think creatively and work effectively in a high-pressure environment and to specified deadlines. Demonstrated experience working with web content management systems, social media management platforms and other digital marketing skills. Substantial experience in the maintenance, administration and development of a range of digital channels and programs across complex organisations. Working knowledge of HTML5 (CSS and Javascript) coding& editing skills, proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with design & editing software. Expert in web analytics technologies, with the ability to extract meaning and suggest action items from data, not just report metrics. A sound understanding of current and emerging trends within content marketing, with experience in writing content accordingly e.g. using Search Engine Optimisation. Sound organisational skills and the ability to successfully manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain focus on attention to detail. 7 Special Conditions Performance will be based upon the delivery of the agreed goals recorded in your Performance Review documentation. Some out of hours work may be required in order to meet the requirement of the role. An unencumbered South Australian Drivers Licence may be required. A satisfactory Police Clearance may be required.
