2 POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Community Fundraising Events Coordinator Date May 18 Job Band: B2 Prepared By: Karen Elliff JOB PURPOSE Reporting to the Community Fundraising Manager, the primary purpose of this role is to be the main point of contact and successfully steward and grow Black Dog s high value annual fundraising events and key fundraising campaigns, to achieve sustainable income growth. The role takes the lead in driving event participation and stewardship in key high value events such as Zoo2Zoo and TourXOz, overseas challenges and other large fundraiser activities, as well as researches and pitches to new potential fundraising event partners. The role also plays a key role in driving delivery of strategy and fundraising objectives associated with the annual Exercise Your Mood Campaign. This role will also work closely with Black Dog s corporate partners team to ensure strong corporate engagement with key community fundraising events and campaigns. There is also scope for this role to identify and develop a business case for signature fundraising initiatives. Through active engagement and ongoing stewardship, the Community Fundraising Events Coordinator ensures long term growth and success of key high value fundraising events and builds a vibrant and active community of ongoing individual and corporate teams of supporters. DUTIES Assist in growing participation in high value community fundraising events and campaigns. Identify new opportunities to expand and grow BDI involvement interstate and in new events. Be an effective team member in developing and implementing new processes and identifying opportunities for process improvements. Continue to build and expand knowledge of the non-profit sector and fundraising programs, as well as build thorough knowledge of Black Dog Institute programs and priorities to be able to inspire others. Work closely with organisers for TourXOz, Zoo2Zoo and other high value events, to providing necessary support for successful fundraising and stewardship activities to achieve financial targets. Working with the Corporate Partnerships Manager, develop a corporate product offering for key events and sell-in this offering to increase corporate uptake and team engagement in major BDI fundraising events. Build strong relationships with participants of key events and provide guidance where needed to ensure well-stewarded fundraising engagement and repeat participation. Support community fundraisers with fulfilment of materials, messaging and collateral such as fundraising guidelines, set-up of fundraising pages, authority to fundraise letters, logo, posters, merchandise etc to assist their fundraising activities. Field and respond to enquiries from new/prospective high value fundraisers. Perform event risk and logistics assessments for key events and ensure BDI s interests are protected at all times. Research and engage with prospective new events to grow Black Dog s high value event portfolio. Work closely with Community Fundraising team, Corporate Partnerships Manager and the Marketing and Communications team to ensure Exercise Your Mood Campaign generates year on year growth in revenue and fundraising participation rates. Develop an EYM product offering and facilitate development of associated collateral to engage new corporates. Create and implement a fundraiser journey for new leads generated from the EYM campaign. Research, scope and were appropriate develop a business case for new fundraising campaign opportunities, such as signature days or events, which can be developed into new income streams for Black Dog. Ensure accurate entry of fundraiser information and appropriate updating of records as required, including recording of conversation notes, correspondence etc with fundraisers. Black Dog Institute 3

4 Import files from third party fundraising platforms, and as needed, undertake de-duping and data-cleansing activities prior to importation. Segmentation of data to enable effective targeting of constituents for fundraising events and campaigns. Adhere to protocols for data integrity, privacy, data policy and procedures. Work closely with Senior Digital Fundraising Officer to ensure effective online presence and support for campaigns and high value events. Working with Fundraising and Development team members, play a key role in continuous improvement in processes, to support community fundraising programs in the most costeffective manner. Undertake outbound calling, s and meetings as appropriate to ensure Community Fundraisers and event organisers are well supported. Assist with coordination of and attendance at BDI events as needed. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Supervisor s title: Key matrix relationships: Positions reporting to this position: Community Fundraising Manager Community Fundraising Officer, Senior Digital Fundraising Officer, Corporate Partnerships Manager Nil SELECTION CRITERIA Essential Criteria Relevant university degree or certification, or equivalent work experience in marketing, communications or related discipline. Experience within the non-profit sector and community fundraising. Demonstrated event management experience, preferably with large events. Outstanding customer service skills, high degree of empathy and ability to represent Black Dog Institute in a professional manner at all times, including dealing with difficult or sensitive enquiries. Strong project management skills, with proven ability in time management and prioritisation of competing deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, as well as ability to build rapport quickly and sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Demonstrated computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and experience in CRM databases. Solid attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Creative thinker with flexibility in trying new approaches and problem solving. Ability to contribute as an active team member and work well with others. Alignment to mental health and wellbeing. Ability to travel interstate from time to time and as needed to support high value events. Black Dog Institute 4
