2 Training Provider Awards 2014 Winner How we help you to benefit from your investment Our training programme is unique because we understand how essential it is to develop people and not just skills. Conventional training develops knowledge and skills and helps people pass assessments. However, a technically skilled employee can only perform at their best if they believe in themselves and their abilities, have the confidence and courage to competently apply their skills in the workplace and are resourceful, responsive and solutions focussed. We work on your employees personal development subtly by deeply embedding tools and techniques into our training materials, and our mentoring & tutoring service. People gain a greater sense of achievement on our training programme which can help them become more rounded and effective, committed team players. In a team it can have an amazing cumulative effect. We want you and your employees to thrive! education & training ltd Tel: +44 (0) info@eagle-education.co.uk eagle-education.co.uk

3 How we facilitate your employees development Introduction An induction with a dedicated mentor is crucial to provide starters with clarity, direction and focus which they need to get them started whilst their motivation and commitment is at its peak. It provides an opportunity for the mentor and the learner to build rapport so that there is a level of trust and understanding on which the future relationship can develop and grow. Using a goal setting document, we invite learners to start working on their personal development. The process involves reflective practice: Where are they now? Where do they want to be? What does their journey look like? What could get in the way? What choices do they have when faced with problems? From the outset we aim to develop a solutions based approach to learning and resourcefulness so that they re able to get the most from their learning experience. Learning Learners are provided with excellent quality learning tools (traditional and modern) which are unique to eagle. In their creation, we adopt brain-friendly learning techniques. They are designed to target each learning style and maximise the opportunity for learners to truly master long lasting knowledge and skills which are needed to feel confident and competent in the workplace. They are designed to imitate the way we learn and process information naturally for example: posing problems which encourages people to discover answers which makes learning more meaningful, as well as developing problem solving, thinking and reflective skills during the process. Learners find enjoyment in activity-based learning, as it demands focus and attention and variety keeps them interested. Our learning tools encourage learners to take responsibility for their own learning experience so they can become more resourceful in their lives. Learners are encouraged to ask for assistance, as and when they need it, throughout the duration of their course. Periodically, they are also invited to participate in a more structured progress review. Reviews We encourage learners to reflect on how they are progressing and whether what they are doing is helping them achieve their targets. If not, what can they do differently to help them move closer towards achieving their goal? With today s increasing demands it can feel as if we have to juggle so much more to keep up with the fast pace of life, so sometimes studying does get tough. If we try to figure out what is best on our own, we might never move forward. Through this process, mentors can act as a sounding board and they can share ideas to help learners achieve their goals. Learners are encouraged to complete progress tests and practice assessments so that they can benefit from developmental feedback from subject experts. Testing Learners have access to an amazing pool of knowledge and experience! Our subject specialists have had long careers in the accounting profession, often in management roles and some work as exam markers and consultants for a range of Awarding Bodies. They re here to share their knowledge and experience and help learners build confidence, develop their understanding and most importantly, enjoy the learning experience! When learners take full advantage of our service they can benefit from working as part of a team which can positively impact on motivation and lead to great success Tel: +44 (0) info@eagle-education.co.uk eagle-education.co.uk

4 Training Provider Awards 2014 Winner How you can support your trainees As employers, we want to get the very best out of our trainees so we play an important role in ensuring learners stay on course so that they can realise their potential in the organisation. We too purchase distance learning courses for our employees because we want to enjoy the benefits that flexible study brings. However, distance learning is not an easy option. When a learner commits to this study method they need to be independent, self-directed learners. They need to have the ability to motivate themselves, organise their own work, and generally remain focussed and committed so that they can achieve the goal they ve set themselves. Self-directed learners usually do very well on distance learning courses because they take responsibility for their own learning. At eagle we provide a service that works extremely well when learners take full advantage of it. We can bring awareness to current patterns of thinking & behaviour and encourage learners to adopt a solutions based approach and become more resourceful. However, sometimes learners are not responsive and at a distance, there is a limit to how much we can encourage a learner to get back on course. The benefits of using workplace mentors The role of a workplace mentor is to encourage the personal and professional development of a mentee by meeting regularly to exchange ideas, discuss progress and set goals for further development. Employees can benefit as they can: Feel less isolated and better supported Have someone with greater knowledge and experience to turn to for advice Be exposed to new ideas and new ways of thinking Be encouraged to interact more with us, taking full advantage of our service Have an opportunity to apply their new knowledge and skills in the workplace Achieve their goals within an agreed timescale feeling a great sense of achievement Experience reward and recognition for their achievements And the employer can: Gain greater productivity in the workplace Benefit from improved accuracy, reporting and decision making Enjoy a more positive work environment Retain the employees that have been invested in Enhance team working, as well as coaching and leadership skills in managers Tel: +44 (0) info@eagle-education.co.uk eagle-education.co.uk

This makes a big difference to the core of your business. Working with AAT, we have developed a blended learning approach that meets our needs. It s part of a long-term aim to get our finance staff better connected, inspired and motivated. We decided to develop an accessible training programme that delivered the core technical financial skills but was also tailored to the specific needs of our organisation. 10 AAT qualifications fit perfectly with the needs of our apprenticeship programme. Our apprentices do real accounting roles from day one. In addition to the on the job training they get, we wanted to provide them with a qualification that they can develop from and apply to their day to day work. Joanne Evans Finance Manager, P&G 3 We deliver practical skills that make a difference From their first day of training, AAT students learn techniques and processes that they can apply directly at work covering not only accountancy, but also important communication and interpersonal skills. They become more rounded, effective and committed team players.

11 I can t recommend the AAT qualification highly enough. AAT is one of the most practical qualifications available to people interested in getting into bookkeeping and accounting. The syllabus works well with the services we offer our clients and we can be confident that our staff are competent and know their debits from their credits. The flexible training programme works well for our staff, who choose study options to suit them. Lisa Newton FMAAT Managing Director, Boogles Ltd 4 We work around you Flexibility is a key part of the way AAT works, because it s all about helping your staff to study while contributing effectively to your business. This extends to the delivery of our qualifications as an apprenticeship, as part-time study and distance learning offered at over 450 training providers across the UK.

So you can be sure your staff are up to date in terms of knowledge and skills, giving your company a competitive edge that makes all the difference. AAT provides a guarantee of quality.
