Since its inception in 1912 Churchie has pursued a philosophy of preparing students to be well-balanced men, contributing positively to the community. 2 Primary Purpose of Position Duty Statement The Application Specialist SIS is responsible for the installation, maintenance and support of databases that underpin the school s corporate systems. The application specialist will work closely with other Application Specialists and ITS team members as well as clients to implement and support databases for large and complex corporate systems. Please note the School reserves the right to alter this position description based on operational needs. Key Accountabilities Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Technical Establish and maintain partnerships with clients at the operational level to ensure the efficient delivery of client-focused services; Participate in project planning, including monitoring progress and consulting with clients to achieve identified goals; Develop documentation, procedures and guidelines relating to School Information Systems administration and application management; Maintain knowledge of current, new and evolving technologies related to the management of corporate databases and applications. Database Administration o School Information Systems (Synergetic) administration; o configuring, managing and troubleshooting SQL server performance and availability; o writing SQL queries and Crystal reports; o designing and implementing a tuning plan for the School s databases; o configuring, managing SQL server backup and recovery; o validation and exporting of data from SIS (Synergetic) for external systems; o migrating data from other data sources into SIS (Synergetic); o other daily DBA tasks. Support and Training o Assist staff with issues relating to reporting, timetable, the use of SIS and other associated systems; o Troubleshoot issues with SIS; o Work with staff to identify training needs; o Assist with the preparation of documentation and training courses; o Deliver training courses to staff in the use of SI;S o o Promote and foster best practice in the use of SIS; Advise and assist staff with using reports and queries to obtain relevant and timely data from SIS.

3 Reporting o developing custom Crystal reports for SIS; o developing custom Microsoft reporting services (SSRS) reports for SIS; o administering and tuning SSRS; o Strong knowledge of reporting software (Crystal Reports and/or SSRS). Development o creating user defined forms (windows / web) within SIS (Synergetic); o customising SIS (Synergetic); o work with Project Office designing and developing software solutions to integrate and extend current ICT services; o designing and developing SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages. Other work as directed, from time to time, in the ITS department or member of the School Executive. The incumbent must be available and flexible to work a variable standard work day between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday to facilitate operational requirements of the department. It is required they have a

4 responsibility for the promotion and safeguarding the welfare of students with whom they come into contact and ensure compliance with the Schools Child Protection Policy Statement at all times. If during the course of carrying out their duties, an employee becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school, they must report any concerns with the Student Protection Officer immediately. All staff at Churchie are required to hold (or apply for) and maintain a current Working with Children Check Blue Card QLD or be registered with and maintain registration with the Queensland College of Teachers. Employee Name Date Employee Signature Selection Criteria 1. Relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent professional experience; 2. Minimum of 3 years experience in management / administration of Student Information Systems (SIS) (Synergetic experience highly desirable); and Microsoft Office Suite products (SQL, SSIS, SSRS and BI); 3. Ability to build and maintain professional workplace relationships, and work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team while delivering excellent customer service to the broader school community; 4. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with competing priorities in a dynamic environment while delivering on outcomes within agreed timelines by exploring alternative/smarter ways and methods for problem resolution; 5. Excellent communication skills written and oral including ability to write professional, business documents with high level of attention to detail and accuracy; 6. Previous experience with integration of information into various application/formats will be highly regarded Mandatory requirement Hold (or ability to apply for) a current Positive Notice Blue Card (working with children check) issued by Blue Card Services Queensland.
