1 Principal Compliance Officer AO6 Permanent Central Region - Wivenhoe About the position Reporting to the Coordinator Recreation and Catchment Services, as the Principal Compliance Officer you will be accountable for the implementation of appropriate management practices to ensure the protection of Seqwater catchment lands. Your primary objectives will be to: Provide boating patrols on Seqwater Lakes and vehicle patrols on owned land around lakes and take appropriate actions to enforce Seqwater's policies in respect to Land Management, Water Quality and Recreation. Act in accordance with the requirements of any appointments made under the Transport Operations (Marine Safety) Act 2004 and the Fisheries Act 1994, as required. Desirable skills and experience High level of experience in dealing with the general public in regard to enforcement and/or compliance. Well developed and effective communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to effectively deal with confrontational situations. Ability to understand and apply relevant statutory and policy requirements. The ability to be appointed as an Authorised Officer under Transport Operations (Marine Safety) QLD Act 2004 (as required). The ability to be appointed as an Authorised Officer under Fisheries QLD Act 1994 (as required). Knowledge or ability to quickly acquire knowledge, of computerised mapping systems. Contribute positively to a team environment. Possession of or ability to acquire Certificate III in Logistics or equivalent. Unrestricted Driver's Licence for a motor vehicle. Recreational Marine Driver's Licence. ORGANISATIONAL INFORMATION AND OBJECTIVES Seqwater is one of Australia s largest water business, with the most geographically spread and diverse asset base of any capital city water authority. We are responsible for ensuring a safe, secure and cost-effective bulk drinking water supply for more than three million people across South East Queensland. We manage and maintain $11.9 billion of water supply assets including dams, weirs, conventional water treatment plants, reservoirs, pumps and pipelines as well as climate resilient water sources such as the Gold Coast Desalination Plant and the Western Corridor Recycled Water Scheme. We provide irrigation water to 1,200 rural customers in seven water supply schemes, as well as essential flood mitigation services. We also manage part of the natural catchment of the region s water supply sources and recreation facilities that provide more than 50% of the green space in South East Queensland, outside of national parks. 3 GROUP OBJECTIVES AND FUNCTION The Operations Group provides safe, efficient, effective, reliable operations and maintenance of water supply, waste water treatment, recreational management, and source assets. The activities of the Operations Group are delivered under a structure that comprises of seven work teams as follows: Operations (Northern, Southern and Central) Water Source Services Water Quality, Environment and Process Improvement Asset Maintenance Services Manufactured Water Contracts and Reporting WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES Safety at Seqwater is everyone s responsibility. All workers are required by Seqwater to cooperate with any reasonable Seqwater instruction, policy or procedure relating to health and safety at work; use personal protective equipment provided; not to purposefully interfere with or misuse anything provided for workplace health and safety; and to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and to take reasonable care that their acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of others. 4 KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Plan, coordinate and conduct patrols on Seqwater owned land and on water to ensure Seqwater policies are being adhered to, and take appropriate action as required. Develop and implement mitigation measures to deter unauthorised activities from occurring on Seqwater land and/or storages. Establish strong working relationships with key agencies and organise joint initiatives aimed at the protection of Seqwater catchment lands and storages. Arrange and supervise work conducted by Field Rangers and/or contractors as required and physically undertake work activities such as grounds maintenance, catchment maintenance, and asset maintenance, to ensure the protection of Seqwater catchment lands. Carry out other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Coordinator Recreation and Catchment Services. Observe and comply with all Seqwater Work Health and Safety standards and practices, Quality Management System Procedures and Environmental Management system procedures, In all duties, comply with the behavioural expectations set out in the Seqwater Code of Conduct, policies and procedures. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Qualifications Unrestricted Driver's Licence for a motor vehicle. Recreational Marine Driver's Licence.
