19 Steps for Building Your Program 1. Propose emergency preparedness actions to management & get their buy in. Make EM a priority. 2. Develop or update your emergency plans and be sure you use them during an emergency! Get staff involved. 3. Get everyone trained in emergency management roles and responsibilities, and practice them. Take-away Messages: Think about what you need to get your business back up and running in an emergency. Management support is essential. Invest resources to create and maintain emergency plans. Train and practice emergency procedures. Consider learning ICS in your organization. 19
