Duties and Responsibilities Wildlife Assistance: Damage Program Coordination - Provide guidance, support, coordination, training and program direction related to wildlife damage, nuisance wildlife, feral hog control, and large carnivore monitoring and response. Coordinate damage and nuisance training and ensure program implementation through the Department s Wildlife Damage Biologists, Urban Wildlife Biologists, Wildlife Management Biologists, and Wildlife Biologists across the state. Responsible for program budget development, oversight and management. Responsible for program coordination with other Department Divisions. Responsible for leadership, coordination, and budgeting for 8 regional feral hog eradication teams and the associated implementation of the Department s 5-Year Feral Hog Operational Plan. Serve as the Department s lead on national committees related to wildlife damage, nuisance wildlife, feral hog control, and large carnivore monitoring and response. Provide legislative and legal information to Administration related to areas of program responsibility; particularly that information associated with the diseases associated with feral hogs and livestock. Propose and develop agency-wide policies and procedures associated with animal damage activities. Provide statewide leadership in the organization and implementation of long-term, cross-divisional operational plans associated with Wildlife Assistance Program activities. Serves as Agency's primary contact with USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). Responsible for oversight of U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's permits for control activities associated with migratory birds and the associated annual reports. Primary contact and coordinator for all state, county and municipal governmental organizations related to the control of migratory birds outside

2 of prescribed hunting seasons. Chairs the Missouri Department of Conservation s (MDC) nuisance goose committee including scheduling and conducting meetings to discuss roundup approvals and other related issues. Responsible for direct coordination with State Wildlife Veterinarian on statewide legislation and Department of Agriculture Rule development associated with feral hogs. Wildlife Management: Big Game/Small Game Management Program Supervision - Provide oversight, guidance, and direct supervision to the Elk Program Manager. Provide oversight, guidance, and direct supervision to the Small Game Management Coordinator. Provide consideration and oversight for wildlife management program budget needs. Provide legislative and legal information to Administration related to the management and regulation of game species. Propose and develop agency-wide policies and procedures associated with wildlife management activities. Responsible for direct coordination with State Wildlife Veterinarian on issues related to wildlife health and disease monitoring. Coordinate with Resource Science and Protection Divisions on development of regulation and management proposals. Wildlife Management and Assistance Program: Information Management and Legislative Activities - Responsible for frequent contacts with all forms of media outlets on high-profile issues within the Wildlife Management and Assistance program area. Responsible for development and oversight of all cooperative agreements within program area. Serve on Division Management Team and contribute to the vision, operation and direction of Division's field staff related to the Wildlife Management and Assistance program. Prepares correspondence for Division Chief s, Deputy Directors, and Director s signature. Makes presentations to Regulations Committee and Commission meetings concerning activities related to the Wildlife Management and Assistance Program. Prepares, provides input for, reviews and edits Division and Department publications, online content, and other media products related to Division and Program area. Represents Division and Department at appropriate state and national meetings. Reviews news releases related to the Wildlife Management and Assistance Program

Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor s Degree in Wildlife Management, Fisheries, Forestry, Biological Sciences, Agriculture and/or Natural Resources Management. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively professional experience in wildlife management and one (1) year in a supervisory role and/or administrative role. Approval as Certified Wildlife Biologist by the Wildlife Society is desired. Experience with GIS preferred. Familiarity with land management is desirable. Demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal and written, through a variety of correspondence including phone conversations, s, etc. Develop, prepare, coordinate, and assist with and conduct presentations. Demonstrate broad understanding of budget and funding process, cost share funding and how to optimize resource allocation within these constraints. Plan, schedule, manage, and facilitate meetings and events. Understand Division/Unit policies and procedures. Understand and demonstrate knowledge of Department rules and policies related to employee conduct, performance and dispute resolution. Compile, tabulate and analyze data using appropriate statistical analysis techniques and software. Understand and demonstrate knowledge of area management guidelines and regulations for applicable Department areas. Understand and demonstrate knowledge of Department computer systems. Demonstrate the ability to work varied hours including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Obtain a Missouri Driver License by date of employment. Travel frequently and stay overnight occasionally. Exemption Status/Special Notes This position has been determined to be exempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act. Employees must agree to accept compensatory time off in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department s Compensatory Time

5 Off and Overtime policy. Smoking is prohibited in all owned, rented or leased Department of Conservation offices, buildings, and similar facilities, in Department aircraft, and in vehicles. The Department of Conservation will hire only United States citizens and aliens authorized to work in the United States. All new employees will be required to complete an "Employment Eligibility Verification" (Form I-9) and produce requested documentation after employment. Candidates seeking initial employment must submit to a drug screen following offer of employment. All persons employed with the state of Missouri shall file all state income tax forms and pay all state income taxes owed.
