1 Job Description Training Co-ordinator Salary 25,000 pro rata ( 14,189) Working hours 21 hours, flexible working (may include some evenings and weekends) Responsible to Outreach and Development Team Leader Appointment type Permanent Location Nottingham City Centre Job Purpose The Training Co-ordinator will be responsible for the following: Design, development and delivery of SHUK s training programmes and development opportunities locally and nationally. CPD accreditation where appropriate of training courses and programmes. Promotion of training and development opportunities locally and nationally. Development of partnerships to enhance our training and workforce development offer to health and social care professionals, academics and public. To update and develop existing training courses and programmes. Co-ordination of training events, programmes and courses including supporting administration and promotion. Ensure that SHUK is a recognised provider of quality training and workforce development programmes and opportunities for a wide range of stakeholders and to maintain a centre of excellence. Duties and Responsibilities Strategic Support the preparation and management of the training budget to deliver the organisation s objectives working closely with the Programme Director and CEO. Development of workforce development training plans and training needs analysis within SHUK in line with the business plan. Develop close relationship with Outreach and Development Team and other project teams within SHUK to ensure consistency of approach and relevance of organisational initiatives in training and development. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the business operation, visiting projects and stakeholders locally, regionally and nationally in order to innovate and influence the training and development agenda delivered by SHUK. Training Co-ordination Responsible for collating and scheduling the training calendar for the company. Responsible for the development of e-learning courses, webinars and resources to support self help groups, health and social care professionals and other stakeholders Manage, recruit and train a bank of Associate Trainers to assist in the delivery of training and development programmes locally and nationally. 1

2 Development of Peer Trainers from within Self Help Groups to support, train and mentor emerging self help groups. Support peer trainers and volunteers, manage timesheets, payments and contracts etc. Training Delivery Working with the Outreach and Development team, plan and deliver an annual programme of development training for established self help groups using a life cycle approach to capacity build key members of groups and ensure best practice within groups. Working with the Outreach and Development Team and other teams within SHUK design and deliver training and development sessions for new and emerging self help groups. Provide initial consultancy advice to stakeholders on our training programmes and design bespoke packages of training to support the self care agenda with stakeholders. Co-ordinate colleagues and Training Associates and peer trainers to deliver our programme of courses, workshops and development opportunities. Working with the Programmes Director and CEO contribute to the learning and development plan of the organisation. Promotion and Marketing To assist in the development of a range of targeted and generic marketing materials designed to publicise our training and workforce development support services. To proactively network and promote our training programmes, reaching out to self help groups, health and social care agencies and other stakeholders to ensure it achieves a high external profile. Actively represent SHUK within OD and L&D networks locally and nationally. Training development and implementation Be responsible for the close monitoring and evaluation of our training programmes including collating data and management information to continually improve learning solutions, services and materials for professionals, self help groups and staff within our partner organisations across the UK. Research, design and pilot new training and development initiatives. Responsible for the compilation and design of training materials, manuals, workbooks and other resources, taking a hands on approach and ensuring benchmark quality is achieved and maintained. Responsible for CPD and other professional accreditation of appropriate courses and programmes Development of Train the Trainer programmes across our portfolio to enable replication and licencing of our training and development programmes. Systems and Reporting Creation of systems for recording learning outcomes against agreed KPIs to funders and commissioners. Other duties and responsibilities Management of associate trainers, peer trainers and volunteers As part of the office team, assist with general administrative duties including answering incoming phone calls, hosting visitors, supporting volunteers etc. To facilitate staff meetings and related events and generally contribute to the effectiveness of the organisation. 2

3 To work in accordance with the vision, mission and values of Self UK and to observe policies, procedures and working practices set out by the Board of Trustees To carry out any other responsibilities that reasonably falls within the scope of the postholder and to assist with any reasonable duty at the request of the Board of Trustees. 3

4 Person Specification Training Co-ordinator Essential Criteria Desirable on appointment (if not attained, development may be provided for successful candidate) Knowledge Knowledge of the principles and practices of training design and associated delivery methods Knowledge of social media, such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter Knowledge of developing on-line and e-learning programmes and courses Knowledge of how to adapt the delivery of a programme to culturally specific settings Knowledge of Self Care and Self Help/Mutual Aid Groups Experience Significant T&D experience, desirably within a health or charity sector, preferably in a fieldbased role Proven track record in effectively managing L&D-based relationships with all levels of stakeholders Evidence of delivery of complex L&D projects from research to implementation to evaluation Ability to inspire and influence field-based customer-facing teams Some experience of working with initiatives focusing on cultural development, change management and public engagement Experience of supporting learning of people from different cultures and backgrounds Experience of providing group training (informal/formal) Familiarity with some of the following training topics, or similar: group development, interpersonal dynamics, personal development and motivation, motivational interviewing, self care, long term conditions management Line management experience desirable Experience of working collaboratively with the public and private sector Experience of CPD accrediting training courses and programmes or other types of accreditation 4

5 Technical/Occupational Skills Ability to generate new, creative and innovative solutions to implement service changes towards improvement Excellent planning skills including good organisational and time management Ability to deliver on agreed objectives within deadlines IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint etc. Ability to work with Social Media (Facebook, Twitter etc.) in communicating opportunities and information to stakeholders personal commitment to improving your own knowledge and skills interpersonal skills that enable you to work with people at all levels, motivate others and change people's attitudes when necessary Qualifications Preferably at least to CIEH or PTLLS Level 3 or equivalent or at least 3 years experience of working in a training role for an organisation or self-employment.
