1 Job Description Job Title: Fundraising and Research Officer Location: Exchange Street, Norwich Responsible to: Marketing and Fundraising Manager Responsible for: N/a Job Purpose: To provide support to the Marketing and Fundraising Manager to achieve departmental predetermined annual targets for restricted funding. Main Responsibilities Service Delivery Fundraising Research national/local government plans, strategies, trusts and funding bodies and a wide range of possible income opportunities including those directed by the Business Development Director or Marketing and Fundraising Manager and provide detailed reports on recommended applications. Assist with research, proposals and administration on large-scale bids and tenders as required by the Business Development Director and/or Marketing and Fundraising Manager. Work with staff and young people to complete a wide range of bids and applications to meet organisational needs. Support the Fundraising and Events Officer to develop relationships with local businesses, schools and community groups to raise further income. Provide support with applying for/attracting corporate funding including making the case for social responsibility initiatives. Administrative Manage and update databases and filing to record fundraising activities. Ensure CRM is updated and used to its full potential. Acknowledge donations and respond to general queries. Assist in the organisation of meetings and events where required. Monitor and report on the performance of restricted fundraising activities. Assist with marketing and communications requirements associated with fundraising. Use a range of tools to complete thorough evaluation and provide detailed reports to funders.

2 Events Support a calendar of events, conferences and exhibitions that meet the strategic objectives of the organisation. Assist with volunteer recruitment and organising volunteers for events. To ensure the primacy of safeguarding children, young people and adults within or connected to YMCA Norfolk. To promote the welfare of children, young people and adults within or connected to YMCA Norfolk. Development Attend and contribute in team meetings to further the service areas community work in line with the Organisations vision and strategy. Attend and participate in regular one to one line management and an annual appraisal. Performance Management To support the Marketing and Fundraising Manager to work to an effective budget and manage finances to achieve outcomes against budget. To manage reputational risk effectively, communicating changes in risk levels to colleagues as required. To ensure that the performance requirements of YMCA Norfolk (YMCAN) and funders are met and that Young People receive a high quality person-centred service that is in line with YMCAN s values. To maintain effective systems for recording and measuring outcomes for Quality Assurance purposes as required for the service area. To be alert to and manage risk effectively in all locations. To adhere to all lone working policies and risk assessments provided for you by YMCAN. To actively take part in required mandatory training as part of the yearly cyclical training calendar. To operate within clear professional boundaries and work within YMCA Norfolk s Staff Code of Conduct. To operate within the Behaviours Framework embedded across the organisation. To implement and adhere to YMCA Norfolk s Policy and Procedures at all times.

3 Involvement To actively encourage a culture of involvement, co-production and inclusion of young people in the work and life of the YMCA, providing practical opportunities inclusion in decision making and involvement in fundraising and marketing. To engage the wider community in the service area to offer further learning opportunities for residents and other young people. To ensure the values of the organisation and its policies are followed within the service. To develop the use of and support of volunteers in Marketing and Fundraising. Internal Communications Attend meetings, events and conferences on behalf of the Marketing and Fundraising Manager, represent YMCA Norfolk, take notes and report back. To ensure effective liaison with all departments regarding relevant issues and information. Where required input into cross-locality and cross-organisational working groups to support wider organisational objectives. Christian ethos To ensure all policies, procedures and working practices within the service area support the Christian ethos and values of the organisation. To carry out any other tasks that may be required from time to time in accordance with the post holder s capabilities and the changing working environment.

4 Terms and Conditions Pay: Hours: Contract: Annual Leave: Pension: Notice Period: Conditions of Appointment: In Service Training: per hour 30 hours per week Permanent 33 days (pro rata) per annum inclusive of Bank and Public Holidays. Access to contributory stakeholder pension scheme after 3 months 1 months Satisfactory references and satisfactory DBS check. Time allowed for in-service training, subject to budgetary provision. Scale Staff Sites Discretion to Act Environment 1. YMCA Norfolk operates on a 24 hour, 365 days per year basis. 2. Unsocial hours Line management of volunteers. Based in Norwich but Regular visits to all YMCA Norfolk sites will be required. The Fundraising and Research Officer can recommend expenditure for authorisation within a pre-agreed budget approved by the Marketing and Fundraising Manager for particular project work. The post holder may need to be contacted in the event of an emergency related to their Service Area. Occasional meetings and social events will require working evenings and weekends. 3. Risk The Fundraising and Research Officer works in a normal office environment so the potential risk is assessed as being low.
