1 POSITION PROFILE This document may be subject to reasonable amendments from time to time by the employer to reflect changes in the external environment, business strategies and required priorities for the incumbent. Responsible to: Responsible for: Direct Reports: General Manager Allied Concrete Allied Concrete operations in the Northern Region Branch Managers, Sales Managers, Dispatch Manager. Purpose: Responsible for all aspects of the leadership and management of Allied Concretes 5 operations in the Auckland area as well those in Whangarei and Waipapa identified as The Northern Region. This includes business management and development, financial performance, staff leadership and performance, quality management, and will require strategic planning for the region in line with national strategy. KEY RESPONSIBLITIES: 1. Health & Safety to ensure that all branches within the region are complying with the Company s health and safety policies, and that a safe and healthy working environment is maintained. Ensure all practicable steps are taken to ensure your personal safety and the safety of others. Ensure safe work practices and appropriate equipment is used at all times. This includes the identification of all risk, and implementation of appropriate measures to eliminate or control these. Work environment in all regional branches is maintained in a safe condition, free of any potential hazards. Ensure the companies policies or procedures that interrelate with other PCBU s are upheld and that the companies interactions are industry leading. All standard operating procedures are followed and all safety equipment used. Ensure staff within the region understand and fulfil personal health and safety responsibilities under the Health and Safety in Employment Act Ensure all staff within the region understand and fulfil personal requirement as an employee to report hazards or incidents to management. Monitor the regions use of the Risk Manager system and personally use the system for safety recording. Carry out investigations and prepare relevant reports. Ensure appropriate and reviewable actions are put in place from Near Hit reporting.

2 2. Staff Leadership To lead, motivate and monitor the performance of staff within the Region. Leading and motivating the branch management and staff of the region to meet agreed performance measures. Establish and maintain productive and co-operative branch teams and reporting structures. Ensure all Branch Managers (and in turn, branch staff) are familiar with and work within HWR and Allied Concrete s human resource policies, with systems and frameworks being used effectively. All staff have up to date job descriptions and appropriate employment agreements. Ensure that all direct reports undertake a six monthly appraisal measuring performance to agreed goals. Agreed measures to improve performance or personal development are recorded and fed back to employees. Ensure management policies and practices develop and maintain a high morale/high performance climate. Ensure that any significant performance deficiencies among staff members are addressed within agreed time frames. Any staff problems are dealt with through proactive and decisive action, in accordance with company policy, ensuring consultation with the General Manager where appropriate. 3. Regional Business Management & Development to manage the provision of products and services based on annually determined business plans. Ensure that the strategic objectives of the Company are realised through the development and implementation of a Regional Business Plan based on organisational policy and within established financial limits, which assigns responsibilities to individuals within specific timeframes. Responsibility taken for achieving performance outcomes through identifying variances and taking action to correct these. Monitor that up-to-date and relevant record keeping data collection and reporting systems are maintained for the branches within the region. This include the CRM system The Hive. Ensure compliance with relevant legislative and reporting requirements. Develop active marketing and promotion strategies to create greater awareness of the range of products and services provided by Allied Concrete in the region. Supervise the activities of the Sales Team and work alongside the National Sales Manager to ensure that sales and marketing goals are met. Actively enhance the Company s relationships with major customers and prospects in the region to drive sales and increase revenue. Continually explore new products, product lines and possibilities for adding client value.

3 4. Financial Management to develop an annual budget and manage its implementation. Annual budget put together based on organisational policy and financial reality. Annual financial plans for region prepared within agreed time frames. Regularly monitor all expenditure and income and all aspects of the region s operations to ensure that it comes within or below budget. Report monthly to the General Manager on the financial performance of the region, informing him of any significant variance in performance against budget and the relevant corrective actions. Achievement of efficiencies through expenditure control and asset utilisation Oversee the management of all company assets (ie plants and trucks) to ensure these are kept in good working order, represent our brand well, and provide an acceptable return on investment. 5. Quality Management to ensure that all branches within the region are meeting required standards for providing quality service and products. Develop, maintain and review agreed performance measures of product and service quality and effectiveness. This includes undertaking a regular evaluation of all products and services against these quality performance measures, and implementing changes where appropriate. Work with Technical Team to ensure that all plants comply with requirements of NZS 3104:2003 Ensure all services comply with relevant legislative requirements. Ensure quality assurance systems are developed, implemented and maintained for the regional branches. 6. Strategic Leadership to recommend long term financial and operational plans for the region. To contribute to the strategic planning of Allied Concrete in the Regional Management Team. Attend all required meetings of the Senior Management Team, providing input for corporate decisions and recommendations to the General Manager and Board. Provide leadership in the review and development of strategic plans for the region Agreed strategic service priorities and objectives implemented and resources deployed to achieve and maintain these objectives Ensure planning leads to sustainable service provision in line with regional needs Establish and maintain good communication and co-operative relationships with management colleagues within Allied Concrete.

4 7. Other Tasks To complete any other assignments, projects or responsibilities delegated or assigned by the General Manager. May recruit and dismiss staff reporting to the position in accordance with Allied Concrete policy with the knowledge of the General Manager.
