2 Background EO 246 Prohibits employment discrimination Provides an EO to underrepresented groups (women, minorities, veterans and persons with disabilities) Recruitment and hiring processes require Affirmative Action to ensure: Good faith and efforts in recruitment of qualified underrepresented applicants Diversity recruitment resources are utilized to attract a diverse population of applicants Requires and Affirmative Action Plan

3 Affirmative Action Plan Provides an EO to underrepresented groups (women, minorities, veterans and persons with disabilities) Increase the participation of minorities and women in the workplace if the underutilization analysis demonstrates their underrepresentation in job groups Components: EO policy statement, Workforce analysis, incumbency vs. availability, goals and timetables for increasing opportunities, specific action-oriented programs, support for community action/outreach programs, internal audit and reporting system
