The Black Country Chamber of Commerce is embarking on an ambitious programme of change, where we aim to become a truly modern, commercial, sustainable and business led organisation that is run for our members, with priorities set by our members. We have an exciting agenda that will increase membership, establish ourselves as true partners to the wider business and civic communities both locally and nationally, develop new products and services that our businesses have asked for and develop a team of officers that are focused on the growth and support of all our members. The Chamber of Commerce has a long, proud history of campaigning for the issues of local businesses and bringing our members together to show the power of the Black Country Economy. Following a major internal restructure, we are now recruiting some key roles that will build on this legacy and create an organisation, that everyone is proud to be a member of. The Digital Marketing Graduate is an important role that has been created to implement a new digital strategy of communications and engagement through innovative online channels. It is also an important role for our ambitious communication vision of being a modern and innovative Chamber. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Black Country Chamber at a very exciting time in the Chambers' development. 4 About Black Country Chamber of Commerce We are a local Chamber with a long history. Wolverhampton Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1856 and Walsall Chamber was formed in In 2001, the four areas (Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton) merged to form the Black Country Chamber of Commerce (BCCC) and we currently represent around 1250 members. We are also part of a huge global movement. Across the Country there are over 90,000 Chamber of Commerce members employing over 5m people across 52 Chambers. Overseas there are British Chambers in 33 Countries from Chile to Cambodia. The Chamber now employs 28 members of staff that offer a range of services to businesses from export documents, international trade support, account management, events, awards, training and lots of networking opportunities. Most of these staff are employed permanently through general funds, but we also have contracts with Department of International Trade (DIT) and ERDF to offer specific services. We work in partnership with the other 5 Chambers of Commerce across the West Midlands to deliver the DIT contract through an LLP and at a policy level we work closely with Greater Birmingham & Solihull and Coventry & Warwickshire Chambers on Combined Authority and Elected Mayoral activity. We are governed by a board of 10 directors who, with the exception of the CEO, Chair and President, serve 4 year terms with 2 directors standing for re-election at the annual AGM. We have an active Consultative Forum that supports the CEO on policy development and key campaigns. 5 Job Description Job Title: Accountable To: Location: Digital Marketing Graduate Director of Policy, Marketing and Communications Black Country Chamber of Commerce Job Purpose The vision for this department is for a dynamic, modern and innovative team that utilises digital methods and new ideas to communicate and engage effectively with businesses and wider stakeholders. As part of this, the Black Country Chamber of Commerce have ambitions to increase the reach and be a key player online through a variety of digital channels. This includes social media, marketing, website and other areas. The Chamber wants to increase their brand recognition in the Black Country as the voice of business. The main focus of the communication function will be to implement high quality messages to the local business community and key stakeholders. This will be in line with the key Chamber messaging on certain topics with content providing thought leadership, proactive commentary and quick reaction to breaking news. This will be a role that requires excellent communication skills and a good understanding of the digital marketing function. The Chamber has ambitious plans to become a modern Chamber, so new ideas of how to engage with the business community and stakeholders through innovative online methods will be encouraged and implemented. Key tasks Creation and Implementation of digital activity based on annual communications plan across a variety of online channels. Digital users on our website, to be the person responsible for our ambitious targets of engaging with more non-members through our digital channels, therefore increasing our database Full management of all Chamber social media channels, including twitter hour. This will involve active development, creation and better use of all channels. Website management including active SEO and increasing engagement with active management of conversions and engagement with content. CRM ensure active and seamless linking with website so members can access and interact and gather all the info they need online. To implement all marketing for the whole Chamber based on the annual communications plan. All content in line with KPIs and overall Chamber objectives. Frequent report on the success of all channels and this will lead to intelligence for future activity. Utilisation of the CRM system to make sure activity and interests can be tracked. Management of external contracts to deliver objectives.

6 Key objectives/targets To create relevant (based on research) and high-quality communication on a regular basis that supports businesses and the Chamber views. To increase the usage/engagement of content by business and stakeholders across the website, social media, marketing and any other digital channels. To increase the use of the Chamber and members through digital channels, so we are seen as thought leaders in the local area. Encourage conversions of businesses to membership/commercial products. Regular reports on key KPIs to measure the success of each activity. Identify commercial opportunities to increase revenue in the department. Job requirements Good communication skills at all levels and across a variety of channels, including excellent written skills. Experience knowledge of digital marketing methods and possess the skills required to implement these methods (including video/webinars/new techs and media). Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills to ensure objectives are achieved. A relevant degree in Digital Marketing or Marketing. Works well in a team and across functions. Full driving license and access to a car. Enthusiastic and positive individual with a can-do attitude. Embraces and identifies new ideas, with an excellent understanding of the digital landscape. Brilliant analytical and data skills.

Working Environment We have a great working environment based at University of Wolverhampton Science Park, Wolverhampton. There is free parking on site and the Science Park is easily accessible by public transport. The ability to be a true team player is as important as anything else in our job descriptions. Induction and Probationary Period We make sure that every colleague who joins the team at the Chamber receives a thorough induction which provides a positive welcome and the information required to help them settle in quickly. All roles are subject to a probationary period of three months during which time we will carry out progress reviews and provide on the job training and support. Salary We offer a competitive salary of 19,000 per annum (Band E). Please note this is a 1 year fixed term contact. Hours of Work Our standard hours of work are 35 per week. The seniority of this role requires some flexibility in response to business requirements including the need to attend some meetings outside normal office hours. Holidays The holiday entitlement is 25 days per year plus public holidays and our holiday year runs from 1st January to 31st December.
