1 Sherborne School (SS) is a boys independent school situated in the shadow of Sherborne Abbey. Founded by Royal Charter in 1550, the school has roots going back to the origins of the See of Sherborne in 705. There are eight boarding houses containing a total of about 600 boys (aged 13-18). Sherborne International (SI) was set up by Sherborne School as a separate facility to enable overseas boys and girls aged 11 to 17 to be prepared linguistically, culturally and educationally before joining independent British Schools. For the purposes of this document the two are collectively known as the Schools. The Schools together form an extraordinary community with a rich heritage and ambitious outlook. The students are talented, engaged and interesting, and staff are likewise. JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Location: Reporting to: Hours of Work: DIGITAL MARKETING MANAGER Newell Grange, Sherborne International The Principal 37.5 hours per week. Hours of work are likely to be 8.30am 5.00pm Monday to Friday less an hour for lunch but flexibility in hours will be required on occasion to meet the demands of the post in particular to support evening and weekend events. There may be a requirement to travel overseas to meet with in-country digital marketing service suppliers.

2 Salary: Holidays: Post-holder s Responsibility: 37,500 per annum on appointment, rising to 39,500 per annum on successful completion of a 6 monthly probationary period. Salary paid monthly in arrears direct into nominated bank account. 5 weeks holiday per year plus Bank Holidays. Attendance will be required on Bank Holidays that fall during term time, for which time off in lieu will be given. Holiday only to be taken following prior authorisation from the Principal, taking account of the School s busy periods. You share with all School staff the responsibility to promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people for whom you are responsible, or with whom you come into contact. In doing so, you are expected at all times to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School s Safeguarding Policy. If you become aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School, you must report any concerns to the School s Designated Safeguarding Lead (Child Protection Officer). Core Purpose The Digital Marketing Manager, in conjunction with the Principal and Registrar, will play a central role in developing the School s marketing strategy and plan for the main term and short course programmes. The key target of the School s marketing activities, and by association the Digital Marketing Manager, is to ensure sufficient customers are attracted to the school to ensure school capacity, student academic quality and student national diversity targets are met. This role will be specifically responsible for integrating the School s digital marketing activities into wider School marketing and communications strategy and plan. They will be responsible for the School website, social media and external digital communications management, including active participation in all platforms of social media and on-line communications. This will include digital channels specific to the main countries from which students are recruited. There may be an occasional need to travel overseas on School marketing business. Reporting to the Principal, the Digital Marketing Manager will champion digital communication across all areas of the School, guide other staff and senior managers about the role of digital marketing in support of the school and actively seek new opportunities for the use of digital media to actively and positively promote the School in its markets and across the industry. Main Responsibilities In consultation with the Principal and Registrar, create and implement digital marketing strategies and plans that are integrated with the overarching marketing strategy, to support lead acquisition and brand awareness objectives for the school across multiple digital media channels to grow the customer base, while ensuring consistency of brand message. As part of the School s strategic planning process and working in close cooperation with other members of the School Marketing Committee: develop and maintain a firm understanding of

3 the needs of the different overseas markets that are relevant to the School; identify the ways in which digital marketing can enable the School to address these market needs and; enable the School to create commercial opportunity through doing so. Maintain and update websites using content management systems to ensure that it is an innovative and true reflection of the academic and co-curricular life of the School, liaising with school staff and external agencies. Manage desktop and mobile sites in consultation with website designers to improve customer experience, customer satisfaction and business value generated. Including optimisation of web pages, landing pages, conversion strategies and technical requirements. Manage any communication portals associated with the website to ensure accurate and up-to-date content and effective communication with portal users, including integration of information with the School s data management system (OWTTE). Develop and implement social media strategies, social media planning and management to engage actively with online communities, at all times appropriately and positively representing the aims and ethos of the School. To include blogs, LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook or local platforms in the key recruiting countries (including new media, as they emerge). Work with agencies/vendors to deliver website and social media campaigns in English (in the UK and other territories) and in languages other than English as agreed by school Principal. Liaise with translation services as appropriate for creation of international website and social media content. Manage and measure integrated digital campaigns and effects. Design and have agreed organisational digital marketing KPIs, analyse performance (using Google Analytics or other analytics packages as appropriate) and routinely report on results. Measure and interpret data to include customer profiling and behaviour across customer journey mapping and web traffic data. Proofread, edit and create accurate and engaging copy from a range of sources for use on the website and social media to enhance school thought leadership in the international education market. Liaise with teaching and support staff to ensure an even representation of academic and co-curricular life and to source expert copy and content. Liaise with the school s photographers to create dynamic photo and video galleries, to take photographs/videos for the website and social media where a professional photographer is not available and coordinated and integrate other staff and student videos and phots for use across the digital platforms. Manage the digital marketing budget. Personal skills and attributes The School seeks an experienced individual with appropriate digital marketing experience, able to demonstrate a range of creative, technical analytical and wider marketing skills. The successful candidate will be an effective small-team player and be able to confidently and appropriately liaise and work with a diverse spread of internal and external stakeholders. Life in Sherborne International is very busy and the candidate will have strong organisational skills, be able to manage complexity and be capable of working quickly and independently when required.

The ability to write, edit and produce engaging and distinctive digital marketing material Attention to detail and effective administration skills with ability to meet deadlines. Tact, sensitivity and discretion. A willingness to become involved in all aspects of school life and an interest and empathy with the aims and ethos of independent education. Personal motivation and drive, with a desire for continued professional development. Technical skills and attributes Candidates are likely to have: Experience of using Content Management Systems (CMS). Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills. Experience/understanding of Google Analytics or equivalent. Experience/understanding of social media planning and scheduling. Experience/understanding of online-video. Experience/understanding of Wordpress. Experience/understanding of writing copy for banner ads and rich media. Understanding of web layout and browser compatibility issues. Understanding of Search Strategy (Natural, PPC, SEO). Understanding website requirements for both brand and social media integration. Understanding of PHP, CSS, JavaScript and Adobe. Professional qualifications Candidates are likely to have: Degree or equivalent in marketing, communication, advertising or a business qualification Professional qualification i.e. CIM or IDM TERMS AND CONDITIONS Non-Smoking Policy: It is the policy of Sherborne School (encompassing Sherborne International, Sherborne School Leisure and Sherborne School Trading) that all our workplaces are smoke free, and all employees have a right to work in a smoke free environment. This policy applies to all employees, contractors and visitors Pension: The post-holder will be able to join the Sherborne School Support Staff Pension Scheme on the first day of the month after completion of two months service.
