Each year, our experts undertake more than 30,000 projects across a broad range of disciplines, including mining, maritime, aviation, rail and traffic, infrastructure, asset management, planning and strategy, water, delta technology, rivers and coasts, buildings, industry and energy. 2

Mining expertise With headquarters in South Africa and the United Kingdom, and a history spanning more than two decades, we specialise in all aspects of mining consultancy. In 2008 Royal HaskoningDHV acquired independent South African mining consultancy Turgis. Founded in 1990, Turgis high standards and wealth of experience in mining engineering, study, detailed design and review work, have enhanced our expertise in the mining industry and increased our global reach. Involved in the study and evaluation of mining projects for virtually every major mineral, our talented group of mining engineers and project managers have worked on some of the world s largest mining projects. 3

Our values Thought leaders in sustainability and innovation, we operate under a strong set of values that extol innovation, integrity, teamwork, and excellence. Our values mean we strive to achieve workable, sustainable solutions that benefit our clients, the environment, our societies, and each other. Working together to enhance society, we work proactively, openly and inclusively with our clients, partners and stakeholders to achieve excellence in everything we do, delivering on our promise and providing added value. 4

Expertise and services Our expertise focuses on all aspects of mining engineering for surface and underground mines - from study, design, and review work to project management, infrastructure engineering and environmental consulting. We have strong foundations in mine engineering, environmental engineering and mineral processing. We undertake reviews, audits and valuation assignments, and produce capital cost databases for mining companies. Our experience encompasses gold, uranium, platinum, iron ore, manganese, coal, copper, chrome, nickel, diamonds, mineral sands, phosphate, bauxite, andalusite and antimony. Further details about our services can be found in the service sheets at the back of this brochure. 5

Our approach Our engineers are professionals in their individual disciplines, and have the added benefit of extensive operational experience. This enables our teams to adapt to our clients varied requirements, while utilising our experience from the broader industry. This means we can take on multidisciplinary project assignments, which add value and benefit our clients and partners. Our strong values of integrity, teamwork and excellence means we have a proud track record of consistency in delivering on our promises. All documents are reviewed internally, and our engineers are rewarded on output only, ensuring our clients achieve maximum quality. Competencies Many of our engineers are recognised competent persons in accordance with the main mining stock exchanges. We are familiar with the NI , SAMREC and JORC codes, as well as the guidelines of the London Stock Exchange. We undertake and manage all aspects of mine study work, from interrogation and acceptance of a geological model through to implementation, construction and operational support of the mine. Many of our consulting engineers are fluent in key African and European languages, including: Afrikaans, English, French, German, Luganda, Ndebele, Nyanja, Polish, Portuguese, Shona, Sotho, Spanish, Swahili, Venda, Xhosa and Zulu. We have access to speakers of other languages, such as Russian, when required. 7

What we do Our work covers a wide range of mines from deep level South African gold mines to massive Ukranian open pit iron ore deposits. Study work When it comes to study work we undertake the full spectrum - from conceptual to definitive feasibility studies. These are often converted to bankable feasibility studies. From handover of the geological model, we have all the disciplines in-house to complete a bankable feasibility study. Our study work includes: n Mine access and mining method design and scheduling n Equipment and cost estimates n Mine infrastructure requirements n Bulk supply n Process plant and waste disposal facilities n Environmental permitting n Financial modelling n Code compliant reserve statements Independent of other service providers, means we can choose the best possible design solution to maximise project value. We use the latest in 3D modelling, scheduling software and logistical simulation tools. 8

Detailed design Detailed design is a logical extension to our study work. Our competencies cover mining, mechanical and electrical engineering, process and environmental engineering. In addition, we have unparalleled experience in the design and implementation of both high and low pressure pump and piping systems. Review work The review work we carry out ranges from design and strategic reviews for mining houses, to high level fatal flaw analysis for lenders and potential investors. We conduct independent and competent person reports, due diligence and operational reviews. Business support Our wide range of engineering disciplines, together with our extensive operational experience, means we have the capability to tackle any number of mining challenges, whether general - or out of the ordinary. 9

Mining community support We actively support the Mineral Education Trust Fund and take an active interest in the future of tertiary mining institutions. A number of our associates are lecturers and examiners. We run a bursary scheme which gives preference to historically disadvantaged South African students, who would otherwise not be able to afford further education, and recruit proactively from disadvantaged groups. We make an annual donation through MinSouth to assist students in the UK. 12 Mining community support A number of our associates are active members of professional institutes and some are past presidents. We also support the Mineral Education Trust Fund (METF) and take an active interest in the future of mining related tertiary institutions. We have a study bursary scheme where preference is given to HDSA students who would otherwise not be able to afford tertiary education. We make an annual donation through MinSouth to assist mining related students in the UK. A number of our associates are involved in part time lecturing and as external examiners. Turgis preferentially recruits from previously disadvantaged groups. 12
