Our dedicated team challenge misconceptions about mental health, develop resilience in people from an early age and work with communities to build a happier Lancashire. We are more than a mental health charity. We re a passionate movement leading the wellbeing revolution in Lancashire. We work in partnership with others to provide support, raise awareness and campaign locally to make mental wellbeing a priority. We believe that prevention is the solution, that everyone can achieve mental wellbeing and that resilience is the key to sustaining it. With 50% of mental health conditions developing before the age of 14, building resilience from an early age is central to the work we do and we have developed a resilience programme for 9-11 year olds. pproximately 1 in 4 people in Lancashire are currently living with a mental health condition. The vast majority play an active role in society with a significant proportion in active employment. However, we continue to work to ensure everyone experiencing a mental health condition is treated as an equal by society. We work with people to manage and improve their mental wellbeing through our Tenancy Management and Wellbeing Coaching services, adopting a joined-up approach with other services. We work with businesses across Lancashire to provide effective workforce training to improve resilience and mental wellbeing and to reduce the impact of stress and mental health conditions in the workplace. Everyone who works for Lancashire Mind is fuelled by a passionate belief that achieving mental wellbeing will reduce the occurrences of mental health conditions. Using this passion, we are creating a happier Lancashire by sharing simple steps to improve wellbeing. Together we can make Lancashire the beacon county for mental wellbeing and ensure everyone experiencing a mental health condition is treated as an equal member of society. The role Lancashire Mind s service delivery is made up of three core areas: wellbeing coaches, community development and tenancy management. Our service delivery is underpinned by Mind s resilience model which prescribes the three components to creating resilient communities are: the promotion of mental wellbeing, developing psychological coping strategies and building social capital. Each team at Lancashire Mind is driven by this model, with community development focusing on promoting mental wellbeing and building social capital. The community development team work across Lancashire taking an asset based community development approach to building resilient communities. Promoting wellbeing, through the five ways to wellbeing, is a cornerstone for this team, inspiring practical activities that can remove barriers and promote positive behaviours. 2

Having close relationships with others has been found to be a key characteristic of people who have high levels of wellbeing. The community development team support the communities of Lancashire to take part in activities that promote wellbeing and build social connections - building community resilience and futureproofing wellbeing. 4 Job description Job title: Community Developer Hours: full-time, 35 hours per week Salary grade: NJC points Starting salary: 21,268 Responsible to: Service Delivery Manager Location: Based in Chorley with extensive travel across Lancashire Overview The Community Development team work across the diverse communities of Lancashire to co-produce and embed sustainable solutions that improve mental wellbeing, challenge perceptions around mental health and reduce inequalities. By strengthening Lancashire Mind s engagement with, and links to, the communities of Lancashire, the posts will increase community support and resilience against the risks of poor mental health, whilst developing opportunities for Lancashire Mind. Main duties and responsibilities Co-produce and implement campaigns and initiatives including promotion and stakeholder engagement. To represent Lancashire Mind at a local community and stakeholder level and to identify appropriate ways to cascade information including social media. Work creatively and in partnership with others to find ways of reaching and engaging diverse communities. To work closely with local communities to identify members to champion campaigns and initiatives, including development of peer support. This will include the development of volunteers. Map and navigate local resources to connect individuals and group with assets to support wellbeing. Facilitate conversations with local stakeholders to challenge inequality, misconceptions and act as an advocate and community voice. This will be through led group work, training and informal influencing. Communicate messages about mental health, mental wellbeing and Lancashire Mind effectively with communities using a range of verbal and nonverbal communication and social media tools appropriate to the audience. Create an inclusive environment, strengthen positive relationships with local communities, bring new perspectives and encourage people from different background to inform and direct our work. To work with community assets to ensure sustainability of initiatives and campaigns, including peer support. To work with the Business Development team to pro-actively identify income generation and development opportunities To maintain accurate records and activities, complete data sheets and explore trends and formulate strategies to manage risk. To collate information and submit report to deadlines as part of evaluation. To develop multi-agency working across communities and with volunteers and community members to improve wellbeing, using an asset based community development approach. To undertake other tasks and duties in order to deliver a successful and sustainable project To attend meetings and training where necessary To abide by Lancashire Mind s policies and procedures. Qualified to degree level in related area of study, or equivalent relevant experience ssessed at application () or interview () Knowledge and experience 1. Direct experience of working and engaging communities and a diverse range of stakeholders 2. Experience and knowledge of implementing and coordinating project delivery including risk management and evaluation 3. Experiencing of facilitating community workshops and developing peer support 4. Knowledgeable about mental health, stigma and discrimination and 5. Experience of co-producing campaigns and 6. Experience of working with volunteers and community groups using a community asset based approach and leaving a sustainable legacy and Skills, abilities and competencies 1. bility to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and through a variety of methods including social media. 2. Strong organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain attention to detail, set priorities and remain calm under pressure 3.
