The institutions fall in

4 two categories, imparting Technical and Management education.1government institutions :-a. Engineering college/ Universities and b. Government Polytechnic institution and Mining Institutes of Jharkhand Govt. only. 2. Private Engineering and management colleges. The vacational Training is provided to students of different institutes from all over India without any remuneration. The students are exposed through Practical training in different discipline to uplift their working skill.. Total No. of Students trained till Highlights of HRD Department: 1. Initiatives related to bridging the gap between requirement and availability of statutory manpower. a. Mining Sirdar and Overman - Introduction of Home Grown Timber Scheme for fulfilling shortage by departmental manpower through quality training and retraining of registered eligible candidates so that they can pass statutory examinations conducted by DGMS. b. Surveyor HRD has introduced a concept of "Super 40" wherein 40 Survey Apprentices/Survey Mazdoors are given intensive training within aim to makeup total shortage by In last two years 19 candidates have passed in BCCL alone which accounts for 33% of all India performance for Surveyorship examination. c. Winding Engine Operator Regular theoretical and practical training progam is being conducted at EMTI, Dhansar for Ist class and 2nd class W.E. Operators examination being conducted by DGMS. d. Electrical Supervisors Theoretical and practical training progam are being conducted at EMTI/SDI to obtain Supervisorship certificate. 2. Computer Literacy Drive The Computer Literacy Drive is going on all the 13 areas, two Washery i.e. WWZ / EWZ and Headquarter of BCCL. Around 2833 employees have already been made literate till January, 2012 and the same is going on. 3. Female Literacy Drive - Currently 6500 female workers are working which is approx 10% of the total current manpower of BCCL. The goal is to gainfully utilize 2500 female employees in different identified suitable trades by way of training and retraining Female Literacy Drive was undertaken for illiterate female employees of BCCL in three phases. In Phase-I 218 female employees were nominated in which 173 appeared in exams, out of which 137 passed the exam All the successful candidates were

5 issued a Literacy Certificate by Central Board for Workers Education (Ministry of Labour & Employment) Govt. of India. In phase-ii 380,female employees were nominated in which 241 appeared for exams, out of which 152 passed the exam. Phase-III is under progress in which 491female employees have been nominated. 4. Excavation and Mechanization Training Institute(EMTI), Dhansar is giving specialized training to develop operators for HEMM and underground mine mechanization for critical category like, Dragline Operators, Dumper Operators, Shovel Operators, Dozer Operators. In ninety heads of dumper operators are given simulator training HEMM Operators(T) selected by Director(Personnel), training for their development of the skill has been programmed by HRD Deptt. from January, 2012.
