4 ide ZAMBIA IMPACT 26, $1 million small-scale farmers Farm Business Advisors in last mile sales As just one example of how we design to context in Zambia, we identify and train Farm Business Advisors (FBAs) to serve as a last mile business link between farmers and large or medium agricultural suppliers. FBAs bring irrigation technologies, seeds and fertilizers, agricultural know-how, and business plan support to smallscale farmers. FBAs have sold more than $1 million in products and services to small-scale farmers in Zambia to date. We also build the capabilities of FBAs to be the first mile linkage between farmers and fresh produce markets.

5 M&E Director, ide Zambia Our 2020 Ambition as ide Zambia is to shape the future of smallholder agriculture by unlocking the potential of the nation s smallholder farmer. We will contribute to ide s global strategy of making large, lasting increases to the incomes and well being of 20 million poor people through innovative and affordable market-based products and services by As M&E Director in ide Zambia, you will play a critical senior management and leadership role in realizing both ide Zambia s and ide International s goals for impact and scale. You will be part of an international team of M&E experts, data scientists, mobile app developers and evaluation specialists. You will take the lead in ensuring ide Zambia has the necessary evidence to support its market-based approaches for social impact through the design and production of M&E performance reports and dashboards. You will help drive performance excellence across various service delivery areas by ensuring all ide Zambia programme information needs are met, by leading on the design and development of mobile-based data collection activities, dynamic cloud-based database systems and timely managementoriented analysis and reporting. You will oversee the smooth running of ide Zambia s cloud-based monitoring systems as well as further development and strengthening of systems in response to future programming needs. As a member of ide Zambia s senior leadership team, you will work closely with the ide Zambia programming, technical, finance and administration teams to provide timely, hands on support to ide Zambia field teams across five provinces. The position reports directly to the Country Director.

6 MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES People Development. Manage the current M&E coordinator and strengthen capabilities of M&E to service programme and project needs; grow the M&E team in line with new business goals. Systems development. Ensure purpose-driven, rapid, and accessible data; expand and strengthen measurement approaches; improve reliability and quality of data; increase information and data sharing within ide Zambia and across ide more broadly. Strategy. Evolve and strengthen the M&E framework to drive performance and learning, and to inform strategic priorities and business growth. Business development. Contribute to designing and engineering new concepts, projects and solicitations for funding partners. Global iq. Contribute to the development of ide s global M&E (iq) capabilities through regular interaction with the global iq team around innovative M&E design work, smart data and analysis, and evidencing impact.

7 FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES In addition to leadership and management responsibilities, the M&E Director will demonstrate exceptional capacities and performance in the following areas: Design. Development and strengthening of systems to ensure integrity of data and data verification. Introduce new and improve existing innovative mobile data collection tools, as well as data collection and analysis tools for value for money, cost effectiveness and return on investment analyses. Manage and Deliver. Responsible for the smooth operation of ide Zambia s M&E system and ensuring all project and program information needs are met. Produce performance reports and dashboards for field level and management decision-making and for results reporting to donors and investors. Generate a rigorous evidence base of our impact and return on investment in market-based programming, including application of DCED Standard for results measurement and value for money analysis. Measure. Lead the development of results frameworks, project and programme level indicators, approaches and methods for cost effective data collection and analysis for project and programme level monitoring and evaluation. Design and implement a range of monitoring and evaluation exercises, including deep dives, surveys, assessment of pilots, and viability and scalability assessments. 8 Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Well-educated, with a relevant BA or MA degree (Economics, Statistics, IT) from a reputable university. Demonstrable experience in building out and using statistical software (i.e., SPSS, Stata, R, etc.), database development and management, and tools and systems for mobile data collection and analysis. Experience using TaroWorks and/or Salesforce is particularly useful. Demonstrable capacity and/or sound working knowledge in one or more of the following thematic areas nutrition, gender, climate resilience. Ideally has experience in applying human centered design (HCD) and other qualitative research for design and management frameworks. Good working knowledge of the DCED Standard. Able to build productive relationships with diverse teams field staff, global management, private sector companies and groups of stakeholders. Southern Africa experience (preferably in Zambia) an advantage. The ability to work under pressure on a range of diverse tasks, meeting deadlines and balancing competing priorities. Track record of at least five years managing a successful M&E unit.
