1 JOB DESCRIPTION Creative Director Overview The Creative Team Lead s role is to set the direction and creatively interpret and bring leadership to the delivery of all creative content required across the organisation. Creative projects will be heavily weighted towards digital content and design solutions, along with motion (short films/videos/stories). This role requires a hands-on practical approach to problem-solving, creative and innovative solutions that will propel our defined audiences towards the fulfilment of our vision. Other The Creative Team Lead will work closely with their creative team (both internal and external partners). They will also work closely with the Communications and Content Team, who will set the majority of all projects. Reports to: Head of Operations (Bronwyn Parker) Direct Reports: TBD Page 1 of 9

2 I. Creative Direction Detailed Activity Direction, communication and collaboration. Strategy Set consistent creative tone for the organisation, and develop strong brand presence. Provide creative guidance and direction for all content produced (i.e. reference and direction for look & feel, tone, colour, lighting, typography, image style, etc.) across a range of mediums including video, digital and print. Collaborate where required with internal and external stakeholders to establish clear and concise job briefs (these will often come out of collaborative discussions in order that Creative can input into innovative solutions). Collaborate with creatives, writers and pre and post-production teams to deliver strong creative solutions representative of Concilia. Communicate concepts effectively (mood-boards, presentations, rough-cuts) with stakeholders and provide progress updates and proofs throughout the lifecycle of a project. Build, lead and collaborative with creative teams both internal and external (i.e. writers, videographers, photographers, graphic designers, strategists, digital designers, developers etc.). Efficient and effective delivery of projects. Strategically input into challenges in order to develop innovative solutions for content, content marketing, and promotional projects with internal and external collaborators. Actively participate and bring guidance to strategic decision making for projects, the creative team and to advance the key strategies of Concilia. Consistent, reinforced tone set across all creative touch-points (Produced creative elements). Consistent, on-brand solutions across all creative touch-points (Produced creative elements, effective delivery of projects on time and budget, team feedback). Clear and Concise Briefs have been created for jobs that require them (Briefs). 3 I. Creative Direction Detailed Activity Practical Skills Research and reference, use sketches, imagery and other means to conceptualise creative solutions effectively. Scout locations, arrange talent and props Strategically and critically assess freelancers, agencies and production suppliers to deliver against objectives Develop clear presentations and proposals as required Produce stories, events, training videos, promotional videos: liaise with churches to capture moments in their AT Journey (film, stills, arrangements for interviews) liaise with church and community contacts to capture records of events, either by Concilia or their internal team. liaise with the Director of the Indigenous Theology & Leadership Project to produce short training videos. liaise with the Manager of Marketing & Communications to produce short promotional videos for Australians Together, and any other Concilia requirements. Presentation and communication processes as well as outputs demonstrate clearly thought out, creative and innovative concepts. The effective and efficient execution of photoshoots and film shoots. On-brand, culturally sensitive and timely solutions delivered. (Produced creative elements, effective delivery of projects on time and budget, team feedback). Proposals and presentations delivered effectively to deliver on required objectives. Stories have been produced that reflect the standards, aims, vision, mission and strategy of Concilia as an organisation, and they meet the agreed brief and quality expectation (Briefs, Approvals, Meeting Minutes, Developed resources) Liaison with story participants is positive, reflecting the culture of Concilia (3rd party feedback, Internal stakeholder feedback, Story outcomes) Locations and talent found are co-ordinated in a timely and considerate manner, with no harm done to country or people (3rd party feedback, Internal stakeholder feedback) Shoots run smoothly, within reasonable control (Milestones, Reviews) Page 3 of 9

4 II. Creative Execution Detailed Activity Design Digital Photography Filming/Editing Layout and graphic design as required (e.g. Brochures, templates, icons, infographics. Brand Guidelines Assist with third party web developer liaison to problem-solve and develop websites / digital presence. Assist with the preparation of video links and imagery files for upload and support with content management via CMS Provide support with the ongoing management of social media content Assist with still photography when required (e.g. Content for smaller stories or photo essays, capturing events) Operate still cameras (currently cannon) Post processing and asset management Assist with the filming of content for stories, events, training videos, promotional videos. Operate video cameras (currently using DSLR equipment) Edit and craft stories using visual and audio media Timely production of requested items as required (Quality & Accuracy of outputs, Turnaround) Timely production of requested content preparation, e.g. files, links, Amazon etc (Quality & Accuracy of outputs, Turnaround) Assist and contribute with 3rd party web developer liaison as required (Meetings, Correspondence) Photography is undertaken when required (Feedback) Cameras are operated providing the agreed quality outputs (Footage Quality) Digital assets (e.g. video files, photographs, other files) are safe, protected (backed-up) and well organised. Team Management & Workflow Mentor and Motivate the Team Detailed Activity Mentor and train other staff members (and external partners) to enhance their abilities to effectively communicate our brand, tone and messages. Provide on the job training, as well as specific developmental training as relevant. Other team members skills have been developed (Development Reviews) Training tools or resources, as relevant to support best practice have been developed when eventually required (Developed resources) Workflow Management Establish and manage sound processes for file and asset management, creative process and pre and post production processes. Plan and manage workflow across team members (both internal and external) to ensure projects are delivered in agreed timeframes. Work closely with administration support (where available) to effectively manage the project management needs of team. Utilise Podio to manage projects and workflow efficiently. Clear and understood processes in place, clear and accessible file management system, proofing and checking processing. (Dropbox, process outlines and activity). Projects delivered in agreed times, within constraints of normal business hours (with exception), strong team morale, and partner relationships. Project administration is well maintained (briefs, filing, scheduling, Podio accurate and up to date). Page 5 of 9

6 IV. Other Detailed Activity Represent Concilia Reporting Provide and demonstrate leadership across Concilia. Represent Concilia at events and gatherings as requested/ required. Following identified format, provide detailed report on assigned areas for regular leadership meetings and to be included in the Board pack. Executive feels supported in his delivery of Concilia s Vision, mission and strategies (Meetings, minutes, actions) Input into strategic development of Concilia (Meetings, minutes, ideas and collaboration) Representation of Concilia and its DNA at events and gatherings as requested (case by case) Reports on assigned areas are included in board packs (produced annually - May and November), and submitted for monthly leadership meetings. Other Detailed Activity Administration Travel Meetings Ensure ordered file management (on both Dropbox and separate media specific hard drives) following the Dropbox and file name management guidelines Follow and adhere to pre-established tracking management systems to ensure relational information is kept appropriately and for Concilia s ongoing reference. Manage and co-ordinate administrative duties as required to ensure the success of your day to day duties. Advise and respond to areas requiring attention or improvement for the overall benefit of the organisation. Maintain A.V. equipment, computers and software pertinent to your role, requesting support as required. You will be required to travel interstate at times e.g. Video & Photography recording and production, staff training, staff retreats. You will be required to attend the following regular meetings: Required Staff Meetings Line management meetings Creative Meetings Digital files and documentation are accurate, up to date and well managed (Dropbox, Media Hard-drives) Set goals, targets, tasks and assigned actions have been fulfilled in a timely manner, and in a way representative of Concilia s values (Line Management Meetings, Development Reviews). Maintain equipment used in and for the role of Storytelling and by the Editor in good working condition (Annual Audit of equipment). Travel bookings and trips for required travel. 8 Skills & Attributes of this role Requirements Essential Desirable Knowledge & Skills Tertiary Degree or equivalent 7+ years proven experience (Design, Digital Design, Videography, Photography, Creative Direction) Apple Mac based editing system, Premier Pro and similar platforms, and graphics programs especially Adobe Creative Suite/After Effects. Experience in filming methods and equipment including high-end cameras Word processing & basic formatting (iworks or Microsoft Office, Mail, ical) Creative! Strong ideation skills and that ability to successfully take an idea from conception through to fruition. An intimate understanding of design, copy and web best practices/guidelines Excellent written & oral communication skills, presentation skills and good emotional intelligence. Organised, proactive, responsible and self-assured with excellent interpersonal skills and manner. Comfortable interacting with clients and internal staff alike Strong persuasive skills A strong understanding of brand development Experienced in managing and empowering a small creative team.
