1 As part of the Uniting Church in Australia, UnitingCare Queensland assists more 14,000 people every day. It is one of the largest not for profit organisations in Australia with 16,000 staff and 9,000 volunteers. It's services include The Wesley and St Andrew's War Memorial Hospitals here in Brisbane, The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital and St Stephen's Hospital Hervey Bay. Blue Care is another significant brand that forms part of the UnitingCare Queensland family and through this well respected and recognised icon, we work with people every week to live independently in their own homes; support 4000 people in residential aged care and provide seniors housing in over 2000 retirement living units across the state. We also walk alongside people with disabilities to support them to have the best lives possible. UnitingCare Queensland also works intensively to support vulnerable families and children and we operate Lifeline services in Queensland including the Crisis Line and our Lifeline Shops dotted all over the state. One of our newest ventures ARRCS Australian Regional and Remote Community Services provides residential and community aged care, predominantly to Indigenous people, in the Northern Territory in Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Docker River and Mutitjulu. We have recently undertaken a review of the structure of the organisation to best position us as a leading service provider in the not-for-profit health and community services sectors. The Associate Directors of Mission, as part of the UCQ Mission Team, perform key leadership roles in supporting UCQ to be a mission and values led organisation reflecting the Mission of the Uniting Church In Australia. Role purpose and overview The Associate Directors of Mission are members of the UCQ Mission Team that is led by the UCQ Director of Mission. Their primary purpose is to provide strategic leadership that ensures UCQ lives out its mission and values; support the induction and development of leaders across the organisation; develop quality chaplaincy and pastoral care services; encourage strong and healthy relationships between UCQ services, its leaders and the wider Church. In this way they are supporting UCQ to be a mission and values led organisation reflecting the mission and ethos of the Uniting Church in Australia. The role of the Associate Directors as part of the UCQ Mission Team, are to contribute to: The expression and integration of the mission of the Uniting Church in the culture of UCQ and in its service delivery Ensure that the mission outcomes of the Uniting Church are reflected within UCQ Embedding the foundational values as being fundamental to all that UCQ does Contributing to the induction and education of staff, and in particular senior staff, regarding Uniting Church mission, polity and theology Contributing to the development of policy and strategy, as it impacts on the mission of the Uniting Church. 2 Shared Responsibilities of the role Provide input and advice to senior leadership teams and senior staff to ensure that planning and decisions, service delivery activity and culture reflect the Mission and values of the Uniting Church in Australia. Work with senior leaders to ensure the mission and values of UCQ and the Uniting Church are interpreted, embedded in, and underpin, the work of our services Provide leadership, professional support and consultation in the planning and oversight of chaplaincy and pastoral care services across UCQ (in conjunction with the Synod Chaplaincy Commission and UCQ service stream senior leaders). Develop processes and engagement strategies which allow the mission, vision and values of UCQ to be understood by all staff and volunteers. Work within the wider Uniting Church Queensland Synod to build key relationships with Synod staff and ministry agents, Presbyteries and Congregations to promote the work of UCQ as an integral part of the Church s mission Participate in and lead where appropriate, ethics discussions and projects by participating in relevant councils and committees within UCQ as per delegated portfolio of responsibilities. Provide pastoral and spiritual leadership to senior leaders within UCQ Develop ecumenical relationships and other partnerships to enhance the mission opportunities, build capacity and sustainable practices across UCQ. Any other responsibility, task or project as per delegated portfolio or as requested by Director of Mission as part of the Mission Team. Key relationships Internal Senior leadership teams UCQ executives Chaplains in services UC Synod and Presbytery personnel External Key contacts across other denominations UC Schools and other agencies Partnerships Qualifications, knowledge and competencies Able to fulfil the requirements of a Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod ministerial placement. Tertiary (and preferably post graduate) qualifications in Theology, Leadership or equivalent qualifications Broad experience in Clinical Pastoral Care Proven leadership capacity at senior levels Experience of working in large complex organisations, and preferably with experience in health and or community services Sound knowledge and understanding of the Uniting Church and its polity, structure, systems and processes Demonstrated capacity to maintain and promote social, ethical and organisational norms in conducting internal and external business and mission activities Significant experience in stakeholder management and relationship building 2

3 Other requirements All UCQ staff and ministry agents must satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or UCQ policies of Mission in placement. The allocation of these portfolios will be open for periodic review and reallocation to ensure that the currency of the mission mandate continues to reflect the Vision, Mission and Values of UCQ as part of the UCA Qld Synod. Ministers of the Word, Deacons and those in the other specified ministries within the Uniting Church are encouraged to apply. Ministers of the Word, Deacons and others in specified ministries will have accountability to both UCQ and their Presbytery and the contract will reflect placement conditions. These delegated responsibilities will be representative of the strategic priorities of UCQ for the nominated period. Role 1 ADOM Mission Integration As part of the UCQ Mission Team Lead the development of mission capability and programs in the following areas: Culture and identity Internal consultancy Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Orientation and induction of staff Prayer and spiritual reflection Management of sensitive matters. Participate in relevant theological/ ethical/ bioethical discussions, projects and committees to support Queensland Synod and UCQ in the development and implementation of key policies. Actively promote environmental sustainability across UCQ Service Streams and participation in Sustainability Coordination Team and the Sustainability Strategic Plan. Develop relationships with assigned Presbyteries. Develop relationships with assigned services/support services. Responsible for Prison Ministry and UCQ Chaplain. 4

Role 2 ADOM Pastoral Care As part of the UCQ Mission Team Lead and have oversight of Pastoral Care across UCQ Services through: Providing oversight and leadership of Chaplaincy Services Undertake ongoing evaluation and monitoring to continue to enhance & improve delivery of Services Liaise with the relevant Synod and Presbyteries regarding Chaplains' wider church accountabilities. Ensure that the appropriate policies and procedures for Chaplaincy Services are in place to provide for the spiritual and pastoral needs of clients, residents, their families, carers and staff Develop an effective working relationship with Synod Chaplaincy Commission to ensure that service needs are met Participate as a member of Synod Placements Committee on behalf of UCQ UCQ Pastoral Care strategy Professional development of Chaplains in Clinical Pastoral Care Inductions, commissioning, dedications & other pastoral services relevant to associated Service Streams Develop relationships with assigned Presbyteries Develop relationships with assigned services/support services. 5

Role 3 ADOM Community Partnerships As part of the UCQ Mission Team Lead the development of strong partnerships and relationships across: Presbytery and congregations UC Schools Other Church agencies Ecumenical bodies and councils Take a strong focus in assisting UCQ engage in its mission through enhancing community development and engagement across its service delivery. Identify & shape mission service opportunities that will enrich existing strategic and corporate partnerships. Work with UCQ Service Streams (in particular Commercial & Customer Services) to develop new mission and service opportunities. Oversee Mission Projects & Partnerships (including Helena Goldie Hospital & College of Nursing Project in the Solomon Islands). Develop relationships with assigned Presbyteries. Develop relationships with assigned services/support services. 6
