1 Peñasquitos Lutheran Church September 10, 2018 Open Position: A/V Coordinator Search Team Contact: Paul Schwappach Peñasquitos Lutheran Church (PLC) in San Diego, CA is seeking a well-qualified candidate for the position of A/V Coordinator. The A/V Coordinator will work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and outside contractors to support the ministry of the church. The A/V Coordinator will ensure that our A/V equipment is maintained properly, A/V volunteers are scheduled and trained in proper use of A/V equipment, and all services and special events are supplied with A/V support where needed. The A/V Team at PLC is made up of volunteers that work to ensure that PLC s worship services have a meaningful atmosphere by providing quality sound for both live music and spoken word, appropriate lighting, and projected media. The person who will excel in this paid, part time position will have a strong foundation in audio production, knowing how to use compression, equalization, and other various effects. This person will be able to work independently and see their contribution fitting into the larger team. We are looking for someone who is proactive about making sure that our A/V equipment is well maintained, organized, and ready for use by PLC s various ministries. This person should have an eye for detail and is able to think proactively and progressively as A/V trends in ministry change. There is an aspect physical work and the ability to lift 50 pounds is a requirement. This position offers a maximum of 16 hours a week. Thank you for your interest in our position. 3 14484 Peñasquitos Drive San Diego, CA Position Description Position title: A/V Coordinator Position type: Hourly Paid, Part Time Reports to: POSITION OVERVIEW Director of Worship The A/V Coordinator is a support position to the Director of Worship and is held by a person who is reliable and well-organized and has an up-to-date working knowledge and proficiency with A/V equipment and software. The A/V Coordinator should be able to at a minimum, perform basic to intermediate audio and video operations, problem solve quickly and work well with others in a potentially stressful environment. The A/V Coordinator should consistently and responsibly schedule A/V Tech Team members based on their skills and preferences, and help to organize, inventory, and maintain all A/V equipment. It is also preferable that this the A/V Coordinator seek out ways to advance the A/V procedures and tech by finding ways to be more efficient or find and utilize new equipment to better the overall experience at PLC. KEY RESULT AREAS Key Result Area #1 A/V Tech Team Management: To effectively and efficiently utilize A/V Tech Team members. Performance Standards: The A/V Coordinator s job in KRA #1 will have been satisfactorily performed when: 1. All PLC services, events, and functions requiring A/V tech use have personnel scheduled and confirmed in Planning Center Online (PCO) a week in advance. a. Initial scheduling should be at the latest 10 days prior to event for tech team members to assess their schedule and confirm or decline in PCO. 2. The Director of Worship is assisted in identifying potential new A/V Tech Team members. 3. New A/V Tech Team members are trained to understand the process of running A/V at PLC. 4. Cases where no volunteer techs could be utilized were covered by the A/V Coordinator. a. There may be times or events that volunteers may be unable to cover the need (i.e. memorial services during the workday or other mid-day events) 5. The Director of Worship is assisted in creating Thank You events/gifts for A/V Teams biannually.

4 Key Result Area #2 A/V Equipment Management: Inventory, organize, and maintain all A/V equipment. Performance Standard The A/V Coordinator s job in KRA #2 will have been satisfactorily performed when: 1. The Director of Worship is assisted in organization of all A/V equipment on PLC's campus. 2. A/V equipment is repaired on site or through an outside vendor. a. All outside contracted repairs were approved by the Director of Worship. b. The A/V equipment inventory is kept up to date. 3. The Director of Worship is assisted in troubleshooting A/V tech problems as requested. 4. The Director of Worship is assisted in A/V equipment upgrades, installations and adjustments. 5. The Director of Worship is assisted in setup and tear down of band setups. Key Result Area #3 A/V support for other ministries: Work with the Director of Worship to balance time between weekly duties and aiding other ministries. Performance Standard The A/V Coordinator s job in KRA #3 will have been satisfactorily performed when: 1. The 5 major yearly events were supported by volunteers or the A/V Coordinator a. Events are: Christmas, Easter, VBS, C-MENT productions, Confirmation Camp. 2. The following were given A/V support throughout the year: - Monday night Confirmation lessons - Life Connections - Refuge Key Result Area #4 Employee Development: Attend training programs and staff meetings offered to staff through PLC. Performance Standard The A/V Coordinator s job in KRA #4 will have been satisfactorily performed when: 1. Monthly All Staff Meetings are attended. 2. Weekly check in meetings with the Director of Worship were scheduled and completed. 3. Additional growth, training, and research has been completed/achieved sought out.

5 QUALIFICATIONS 1. Ability to use a computer (both MacOS and Windows) to view worship planning schedule and communicate with other staff members. 2. Proficiency in using Planning Center Online, ProPresenter, and Microsoft Office. 3. Excellent organizational and communications skills. 4. Experience and proficiency working with up-to-date audio, video, and lighting equipment (including but not limited to digital sound boards, audio equipment, video displays and projectors, and lightning and presentation software). 5. Attentive eye to things that are out of place and ability to continually adjust setups of equipment. 6. Ability to be flexible and easily interruptible. Able to work in a fast-paced environment. 7. Demonstrated ability to operate as a team player 8. Self-starter, quick learner, and able to work unsupervised. 9. Polite, professional, and friendly demeanor. 10.
