1 Role Profile Job Description Ref no: ESO HU Job Title Examinations Services Officer Directorate or Region EU Department/Country Examinations Services / Hungary Location of post Budapest Pay Band H 100% Reports to Examinations Services Manager Duration of job 2 year fixed term Purpose of job: The post contributes to and supports the efficient and effective delivery of examinations on behalf of UK exam boards to meet/exceed their expectations and the achievement of agreed surplus through meeting volume and income targets. The post ensures the smooth running of exams, with primary responsibility for University, Professional and Cambridge English exams, to the satisfaction of all stakeholders, in line with corporate standards and meeting all areas of compliance of both the UK exam boards and British Council. The post also provides support to the Exams Services Manager in preparation of financial data and monitoring payments. Context and environment: British Council Hungary Examinations Services is an important part of the operation in Hungary. The team delivers cca 8,000 exams per year throughout the country, and the numbers are growing. The majority are tests of English language competency e.g. Cambridge English Language Assessment qualifications (CELA) and IELTS. Our strategy for the future is to continue developing the market for the existing products and for Computer Based Testing as well as identify target groups for the British Council Aptis test. Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties: Exams Delivery and Quality Assurance University and Professional and Cambridge English exams (80%) Coordination of University, Professional and CELA exams from first enquiry until exam despatch, ensuring all aspects of exam delivery (pre- & post-test day activities as well as test day delivery) are in line with UK exam board regulations and British Council requirements. Overseeing check-in and secure despatch of scripts (accountable to universities and boards). Overseeing delivery for Computer Based Tests according to exam board regulations and British Council standards. Ensuring all British Council areas of compliance are met including Quality and Compliance Assurance (QCA) standards, Data Protection, Child Protection, mandatory training requirements, finance. Relationship Management with Examinations Boards and with schools providing CELA candidates. Maintaining of up-to-date databases and calendars of examinations and contacts. Training and quality management of invigilation staff, administrative duties relating to venue staff and examiners. Supervision of back-office activity and seasonal teams. Implementation of feedback procedures for universities and professional organisations with whom we work. 1 of 5

2 Financial duties (20%) Ensuring that Board Fees, Purchase Orders and invoices are processed according to British Council regulations. Supporting Exams Services Manager (ESM) with required financial information. Finalising income reconciliations for University, Professional and CELA exams accurately and submitting them to ESM by specified deadlines for checking. Monitoring expenditure and proactively looking for efficiency savings to improve Key Performance Indicators. Lead for the exams team on changes in relation to financial processes. Responsibility for day-to-day finance tasks related to exams delivery (including appropriate use of SAP as per allocated role) in line with local and corporate standards, for example: o o Ensuring all venue staff claims and payments are correct and timely. Ensuring daily posting of income / income recognition is done accurately. Experience Qualifications Experience of operating in an event driven environment where attention to detail and meeting deadlines under pressure are important for success. Experience of working with customers. Ability to operate in English (both written and spoken) at a level equivalent to CEF level C1 (IELTS 6.5 or higher). & Proficient Hungarian (written and spoken) equivalent to CEF level C2.
