2 Today is a Perfect Day for opening a New Door... is a two year Big Lottery Funded project which will be delivered by Tai Pawb in partnership with the Residential Landlords Association (RLA). The project will empower tenants from minority and underrepresented groups and landlords/letting agents in the private rented sector to act in order to prevent and reduce discrimination and mistreatment in the sector. The project will support, advise on and raise awareness of key rights, responsibilities and solutions amongst private tenants from diverse groups, such as migrants, LGBT or disabled tenants, who are a greater risk of experiencing specific tenancy issues. At the same time, with the help from RLA, Open Doors will work with private landlords and letting agents, to improve their capacity to deal with issues related to equality and diversity. Our partners, RLA, is a leading voice for private sector landlords since We are currently looking to recruit two people who are passionate about equality and diversity and would like to develop and deliver this innovative project. Project Manager//Cardiff// 28,746//flexible working//2 year contract We are looking for a motivated and talented Project Manager to get the off the ground, manage and monitor its activities and budgets. You will be responsible for managing the project as well as leading on landlord activities, including recruiing and coordinating volunteer landlord equality champions. You will have a sound understanding of equality and diversity issues related to privately rented housing. You will be a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, able to engage, understand, influence and work with private landlords and letting agents. You will have a strong project and budget management skills, be able to think creatively and laterrally and use a variety of community involvement methods to engage landlords with the project. Project Officer//Cardiff// 25,440//flexible working//2 year contract We are looking for someone genuinely passionate about equality, diversity and social justice as well as involving and working collaboratively with diverse communities like BME people, disabled people, LGBT people, people with mental health problems and others. You will be responsible for developing and running Open Doors tenant activities. You will be highly creative, able to use social media and to think outside the box to confidently engage people who may have communication needs. You will be able to develop fresh and exciting ideas to engage and assist tenants within the Open Doors and empower them to actively support others. 5 JOB DESCRIPTION POST: Project Manager RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Business SALARY: 28,746 CONTRACT: Fixed term for 2 years//full time PURPOSE OF THE POST: To develop activities and manage the delivery of the Big Lottery Funded including managing the Project Officer. To lead on project activities related to engaging and working with private landlords and letting agents, including recruiting and coordinating volunteers. To monitor the project, make sure it is delivered according to plans and submit regular reports to Big Lottery Fund. To promote the project to participants, beneficiaries and wider stakeholders. ABOUT OPEN DOORS: is a two year Big Lottery Funded project which will be delivered by Tai Pawb in partnership with the Residential Landlords Association. The project aims are to empower both tenants from minority and underrepresented groups and landlords/letting agents in the private rented sector to have the capacity, knowledge, skills and confidence to act in order to prevent and reduce discrimination and mistreatment in the privately rented housing sector. The project will support, advise on and raise awareness of key rights, responsibilities and solutions amongst private tenants from diverse groups, such as migrants, LGBT or disabled tenants, who are at greater risk of experiencing specific tenancy issues. At the same time, with the help from RLA, Open Doors will work with private landlords and letting agents, to improve their capacity to deal with issues related to equality and diversity. The project will be delivered in Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan and Merthyr Tydfil areas and plans to reach over 2000 people with activities such as training, an innovative online hub, events, published guides, an advice helpline, drop-ins and referrals to local support provision or direct assistance where gaps exist and finally, events. A key element of the will be the introduction of Tenant and Landlord Champions who will act as project ambassadors and advocates by learning new skills, enabling them to contribute to running and shaping the project. KEY DUTIES Manage the development and delivery of the project Manage Project Officer Lead on engagement with private landlords and letting agents Use a variety of innovative methods to involve appropriate numbers of landlord beneficiaries with the project and secure their interest in equality, diversity and fairness and maximum impact Develop and manage relationships with private landlords and letting agencies Monitor the project, make sure it is delivered according to plans and submit regular reports to Big Lottery Fund

6 Develop and maintain relevant recording systems, that can inform qualitative and quantitative assessment requirements Promote the project to beneficiaries and wider stakeholders Recruit, train and support local landlord champions to provide advocacy, run events, develop resources and awareness and provide evidence and support to private sector landlords Together with the project officer manage an online hub with quick help and accessible advice for tenants and landlords in the project areas on issues such as rights and responsibilities Together with the project officer, develop content for the online hub. This will mainly include short videos, blogs and tips, including information in alternative languages and promote the content via social media and online Make referrals to local support provision, such as local authority or third sector services to provide assistance to landlords and provide support directly where gaps exist (e.g. via drop in sessions) Together with the project officer, develop and publish three local authority area guides (Merthyr, Cardiff & the Vale of Glamorgan) for landlords on delivering fair services and distribute widely Establish a one stop shop enquiries helpline for landlords on equality and diversity and landlords section of the online hub Organise training for landlords and letting agents on equality/diversity and other relevant topics (some to be delivered by yourself and some with third party providers) Together with the project officer, hold events for landlords and tenants where dialogue on key issues can be established Create and publicise a private sector tenant and landlord engagement guide for the third sector and local authorities Take part in working groups, partnership initiatives and any other work relevant to affecting organisational change. Develop a tenant/landlord mediation pilot during year two of the project (via a third party mediator) Work closely with the Director and Head of Business on key aspects of the job. Contribute to Tai Pawb website and social media content. Undertake any other tasks as may be required from time to time as a member of a small team with a national remit.

7 PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Knowledge Qualified to degree level or equivalent experience Understanding of the private rented housing sector Sound knowledge of equality and diversity issues affecting private sector landlords and tenants Good understanding of communication techniques, including websites as well as digital and social media Experience Skills and Competencies Experience of engaging with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds Experience of facilitating groups and delivering training Experience of presentation delivery and public speaking Experience of delivering constructive challenge to organisations/businesses in a positive and unthreatening manner Strong project and budget management experience Experience of motivating, managing and leading staff (at least 1 year) Experience of developing qualitative and quantitative monitoring and evaluation systems Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong social media skills Strong community involvement/engagement skills Excellent organisational skills Tact, diplomacy and persuasive ability Ability to engage and collaborate with others to find solutions Tact, diplomacy and persuasive ability Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with business people at all levels Highly creative, innovative, able to use lateral thinking Able to work with minimal oversight Strong focus on practical outcomes, results and solutions Strong IT skills Experience of recruiting and/or managing volunteers Experience of working in a similar role

In line with NJC Rates. The post will require frequent travel across delivery areas of Merthyr Tydfil, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan The ability to speak Welsh or other languages is welcome but is not considered to be a requirement for this post.
