Whether you plan on taking the summer off or taking summer classes, it s always a good time to do an internship. It s never too late to apply for an internship. An internship experience could be for a month, a semester, or even a year. It is important to determine prior to looking for an internship, what you would like to learn. How would you like to change or be different by the end of your internship? This will help shorten your internship search process and make the internship experience worthwhile. Some of the goals for getting an internship could be: to gain professional work experience, to explore a possible career option, to get work experience in your field of interest, and/or to learn about possible career opportunities related to your major. Career counselors at UCS will be happy to assist you by answering all the questions you might have about internships and guide you through the process. We have walk-in hours Monday through Thursday from 9am-11am and 2pm-4pm. We also offer late night walk-in hours on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4pm- 6:30pm.You can expect to spend about 15 minutes with a counselor. You always have the option of making a follow-up appointment if needed. You may also schedule an hour long appointment through our website. This position requires a wide range of skills and a strong interest to learn. We're a small team that moves quickly. You'll be challenged and busy, and, if you do things right you'll learn a lot. No toe-dipping, you'll be diving right in. Qualifications : Strong skills and/or interest in graphic design and digital communications such as: Photoshop & Illustrator (a must, Fireworks is a plus) Google Apps: Calendar, Docs, Gmail (Analytics is a plus), The internet Social media such as Facebook Pages, Twitter, LinkedIn (associated advertising also a plus), Willingness to learn a CRM WordPress HTML Outputting press-ready files. Title: Summer Internship - Associate Programmer Analyst Brief Description: This Intern position is an opportunity to work as an entry-level Associate Programmer Analyst in IT. The Intern will work in a team environment developing and supporting computer applications. Duties will include: project work, service requests, and production support of applications. This position is responsible for: 1. Completing coding assignments based on documented requirements. 2. Completing test plans and verifying assignment completion. 3. Interacting with teammates and business partners on requirements and status reporting. 4. Perform problem investigation and resolution. 5. Support more senior staff. A successful Intern will ask informed questions of teammates and complete their high quality individual assignments on time and understand how their individual tasks help accomplish the larger project and business goals. 3 Metal Oxide Technologies, Inc. Title: Chemistry Lab Technician Brief Description : An opportunity for a 10 hour/week paid internship for a Chemistry Lab Technician. We are flexible with respect to hours and work times. This position is an excellent resume builder as well as an opportunity to gain practical industrial experience. We are located on the NW side of Houston. Qualifications : Candidate must have a chemistry background and some experience working in a wet chemistry lab. Main duties: wet chemical synthesis, vacuum drying and vacuum sublimation of volatile MOCVD precursors as well as quality control of prepared materials by elemental analysis, gravimetric analysis and TGA. Candidate must be able to conduct literature research and learn new analytical and synthetic techniques. He/ she should be detail-oriented, have good problem solving and analytical skills. 4 Egon Zehnder International Title: Administrative Intern Brief Description: Administrative intern needed to provide backup support to administrative staff during the summer months, with the possibility of continuing on an either a part-time or a full-time basis during the school year. Duties will include: answering phones, filing, managing front reception office, maintaining and ordering supplies, organizing business lunches, and other duties as assigned. Level of responsibility can increase based upon incumbent's ability to handle additional duties. Qualifications: We are looking for a highly articulate college student or recent grad with a very strong work ethic and can-do attitude. We are located on the western side of Houston in the Westchase business district. Position Summary Ignite Restaurant Group is looking for an eager and energetic summer design intern. Your internship will include the layouts and production of advertising for all Ignite brands. You will assist our creative services department with various large projects through out the summer. Coffee runs might happen once in a while, but this is an actual working internship. The position requires a very creative and detail minded designer who is willing to wear multiple hats. Exchange participants may intern abroad through the Global Community Development Program (GCDP) or the Global Internship Program (GIP). GCDP internships give exchange participants the opportunity to take part in community development projects by volunteering or teaching English abroad. GIP offers upperclassmen and graduates the opportunity to develop their professional skills in the fields of business or technology. AIESEC internships are offered in more than 110 countries, including China, Colombia, Brazil, Hungary, and Egypt. Qualifications: Must be a current student or have graduated within the last two years. Additional qualifications vary. Duration: GCDP typically 6 14 weeks. GIP typically 6 18 months. Program Fees: $75 application fee + a matching fee of $425 for the Global Community Development Programme or $675 for the Global Internship Program. Compensation: Varies. Internships in the Global Community Development Programme are typically compensated with free accommodation and meals. Internships in the Global Internship Programme are typically compensated with a monetary salary.
