2 Pathways and Ticket to Work SourceAmerica was involved in original Employment Network (EN) recruiting efforts began in 2001 SourceAmerica Pathways to Careers first demonstration site began in 2012 All Pathways sites are not current ENs Pathways primarily serves individuals on SSI and those with the most significant barriers to employment minimal participation for folks receiving SSDI Pathways to Careers Achieves Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE) outcomes using acknowledged best practices in Customized Employment In partnership with 5 NPAs Approx. 150 participants Seeking to expand services Highly ordered processes and services Pathways to Careers cont. Based on person-centered principles Evaluation activities include data on costs, service hours breakdowns, outcomes, demographics 2

3 Pathways to Careers Initiative Goal: All youth and adults with significant disabilities will have an informed choice of competitive, integrated and full wage employment options Pathways to Careers Initiative Objectives Eliminate existing barriers and disincentives to full participation in the workplace for individuals receiving SSI and/or SSDI benefits and related Medicaid and Medicare benefits; Implement and assess employer engagement strategies Achieve the Pathways goal with net costs below the estimated Treasury savings for all Pathways-related costs Value of Paid Internships Provides a more reliable context for Expanded Discovery Connects the value of contribution with wages earned, for both individuals and employers Offers stronger leverage to develop employer ownership of supports 3

Allows individuals to better establish their interests, identify their conditions for success and develop skills to be offered to employers Employer Engagement Strategies Development of strategic employer partnerships Employer Agreements Partnership, Internship and Employment Paid Internships Employer Engagement Strategies Internship/employment supports facilitated by Pathways team (using systematic instruction approach) and transitioned to employer Employer Payroll Tax Adjustment (EPTA) as a resource to offset any ongoing employment supports 4

5 Pathways and the Ticket Average costs for services per year is $12,500/per participant; average time to employment is just under 2 years Current funding for Pathways from SourceAmerica/State VR programs/ Medicaid Waiver dollars/other Pathways and the Ticket cont. Pathways participant profiles do not always align with ideal identified Ticket candidates Currently 3 of the 5 Pathways sites are ENs - the PARC site in Utah is active Ticket Success at PARC 5

6 Ticket Success Story: Josh Josh is a dependable, detail oriented, go to kind of person who loves to work with his hands. His work includes assisting with an extrusion saw, parts assembly and packaging materials. He works forty plus hours per week and is an important part of his team at Futura Ticket Success Story: Josh- cont Employed since 9/02/2013 Pulled ticket 5/01/2014 Last year earned $36,675 Completely off SSI benefits Career Advancement Certification in 3 areas at Futura Marked improvements in his life since he has career Ticket Success Story: Derek Derek likes to work with tools and computers, he pays attention to safety and detail. He makes carpet transitions, puts them in cardboard sleeves, prints orders and labels from the computer and works with a Heim and re-sleeving machine. Works 40+ hours 6
