3 Purpose of Workshop To bring together those who are involved and interested in improving outcomes for children and young people To seek commitment to set-up a planning group To identify who needs to be involved

4 What is Integrated Outcomes Based Planning? A process to encourage and help policy makers, service providers, planners and practitioners to work together with local communities, to plan and deliver services so that better outcomes are achieved for children and young people

9 Integrated Planning - ROI Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA) provides leadership at a national level Health Service Executive provides leadership at a local level under review as a new Children & Family Agency is being set up To date, 14 Children Services Committees at a county level have been set up to develop local interagency working

10 Integrated outcomes based planning A way of encouraging all involved to think about what do we want for our children? Everyone can examine together what can be done to achieve improvement Thinking about outcomes can maintain energy and focus and induce action

11 Purpose of planning To improve outcomes for children and young people and families in an area by: Establishing a partnership of communities, children & young people and agencies Building on existing networks Developing community ownership Listening to children young people and families Reviewing statistical & qualitative information Mapping services, identifying gaps and priorities Drawing up plans to address priorities Developing services and supports to meet needs Pooling and targeting resources / services to reduce duplication

12 Role of a Planning Group To represent your agency / community and to work with others from a range of agencies / sectors To seek and involve children, young people, families and communities To examine data & information on children s lives To identify local priorities To develop multi-agency action plans To influence future policy and / or work practice in your own organisation / group To commission and / or develop services with others using joint resources to address priorities
