1 POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: Director, Career Services CATEGORY: Administrative FLSA STATUS: Exempt GRADE: C JOB SUMMARY: Plan, direct and oversee all aspects of the Career Services department to ensure its effective implementation and evaluation. Serve as a liaison between EPCC and higher education institutions, school districts, employers, and internal management. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Provide effective direction, leadership and strategic objectives to a multi-campus department. Develop and oversee implementation of the four initiatives which include, Job Placement, Coop Program, Career Planning/Exploration and Transfer Services to ensure effective implementation and evaluation. 2. Collaborate with higher education institution administrators, school district administrators, employers, EPCC faculty, staff and students to promote effective and consistent implementation of Career Services components and efforts. 3. Organize and conduct meetings, prepare and present training/information sessions within the El Paso region and to other external constituencies to disseminate, implement and follow-up on Career Services initiatives and programs. Coordinate all efforts and activities associated with higher institutions for presentations, interventions, data exchange, and data reports in relation to Job Placement, Transfer Services, Coop Program and Career Planning/Exploration. 4. Provide personnel management, direction and guidance to staff and faculty including performance appraisal, coaching, personal and professional development. 5. Develop, recommend and implement short and long range strategic operational and instructional plans. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and policies/procedures. Recommend and implement modifications to programs. Develop and manage program budget. 6. Ensure compliance with current policies/procedures, administrative rulings and state and national requirements related to Job Placement, Transfer Services, and Coop Program and Career Planning/Exploration initiatives. 2 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct supervision of personnel assigned to Department. BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES: Departmental budgets ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Master s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field. EPERIENCE: Four (4) years of related experience. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Must have the skill and ability to plan, organize, lead, and control personnel and operations of a large department; Effective communication and problem solving skills in a variety of circumstances; Considerable knowledge of grant writing and management; Must have proven experience working with other organizations, institutions, and/or schools; Understanding of instructional and administrative procedures within a university, community college and high school setting; Must have effective organizational and planning skills with ability to multi-task; Strong presentations skills and public speaking; Must be able to develop and cultivate business relationships; Must have effective use of tact and diplomacy; Ability to work in a diverse environment and be sensitive to issues of diversity and inclusion. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with a general office environment (copier, phone, fax, etc.) 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, , and presentation software.
