2 PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Tradesperson - Electrician is responsible for the maintenance of all Port of Townsville Limited s (POTL) electrical installations and associated infrastructure to ensure safety of operation and a return on capital investment. SELECTION CRITERIA: Essential SC1 SC2 SC3 SC4 SC5 SC6 Trade Certificate III Electrotechnology Electrician or equivalent Demonstrated experience in welding processes, MIG, Flux core and manual arc. Demonstrated ability to work productively in a team environment; or autonomously and unsupervised as required. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret trade drawings and manuals. Demonstrated ability to work at heights and on floating plant (i.e. pontoons and barges). Knowledge and experience on how to maintain hand tools and equipment. Desirable SC7 SC8 SC9 Demonstrated work experience in a marine environment including working on floating platforms, under wharves and in confined spaces. Possession of: Restricted coxswains ticket Commercial level marine vessel operating qualifications Possession of relevant operator s tickets, Crane/forklift/dogman/heavy vehicle etc. A working knowledge of oil pollution equipment and operation, environment legislation, including hazard and risk management. SC10 General computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 3 POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Mandatory Possession of a recognised Electrical Trade Certificate/s and Electrical Licences and High Voltage related discipline. Demonstrated trade experience in the maintenance of Electrical infrastructure and installation and cathodic protection systems associated with marine environment. Sound knowledge of all electrical service equipment both low voltage and high voltage. Sound knowledge of maintaining, inspecting and documenting hazardous areas. Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering plans, electrical schematics, manuals and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Demonstrated skills in the use of tools, equipment, testing equipment and materials relevant to electrical trade. Demonstrated ability to determine own work requirements and be able to work unsupervised. Demonstrated sound level of problem solving and organisation skills. Possession of a current First Aid Certificate. Possession of working from heights certificate Possession of rescue from heights certificate Possession of a current Queensland Open Driver s Licence. Ability to swim. Desirable Experience working in a marine environment including working on floating platforms, under wharves and in confined spaces. Possession of a HR Class Driver s Licence. Possession of a restricted coxswain s ticket. Possession of commercial level marine vessel operating qualifications. Possession of relevant operator s tickets, Crane/forklift/dogman/heavy vehicle etc. A working knowledge of workplace health and safety, oil pollution equipment and operation, environmental legislation, including hazard and risk management. Trained to be able working in confined spaces and associated pit rescue Capability in operating floating plant in harbour conditions. Ability to operate truck mounted crane Ability to operate & work in self operated boom /scissor lifts up to 25 metres. General computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Note: The position requires frequent manual handling including bending and high reaching, ladder climbing, and working in positions with difficult access, extended periods of standing and walking on concrete floors and occasional uneven surfaces and extended periods of working in shaded, nonairconditioned work spaces. Working in confined spaces may also be required for the maintenance of equipment. Page 3 of 7

4 POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The Tradesperson Electrician is responsible for the following: Key Responsibilities Maintain and operate POTL s electrical infrastructure and equipment Carry out remedial repairs, maintenance and installation/commissioning to POTL electrical equipment and services, so that they may be utilised to their full potential. Provide and maintain records of time and materials utilised, prepare materials lists, complete and return inspection check sheets, comply with maintenance and service schedules and report schedule deficiencies. And other as required under the Act and Regulations Supervise and co-ordinate employees allocated by relevant supervisor and/or Manager Maintenance. Liaise with commercial outlets for work related products. Operate all electrical testing and operating equipment.mobile plant and other as necessary to undertake electrical maintenance works on behalf of POTL Actively provide positive input and solve day to day job problems and establish and improve work methods in the course of maintenance and repair work. Ensure compliance of POTL s use of TAKE 5 and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) with all tasks and assist with Job Safety Environmental Analysis (JSEA s) when required. Comply with standard operating procedures and maintenance schedules, electrical regulations and report changes or inconsistencies. Ensure the prompt repair of breakdowns to miscellaneous electrical services and/or equipment as it arises. Promote, educate and ensure POTL employees comply with quality processes and POTL s Business Management system. Performance Standards/Results Maintenance activities are completed on time and to quality assurance standards. Repairs and maintenance are carried out safely, efficiently,complaint to the QLD Electrical Safety act 2002, Electrical Safety Regulations 2013 and in a timely manner Records are accurate and timely. Maintenance and Service schedules are complied with to the letter and Schedule deficiencies or noncompliance is reported in a timely manner. Employees are supervised to ensure safety and productivity. Products comply with specifications, QLD codes, Act, Regulations and meet budget requirements. All machinery and equipment is operated in accordance with relevant legislative requirements and all machinery documentation e.g. pre-start checks etc are completed. Problems are rectified safely and in a timely manner; work methods do not expose the employee or other employees to health and safety issues/incidents or cause damage to the environment; and the relevant Supervisor is kept informed of all relevant procedures adopted. TAKE 5s, SOPs and JSEAs comply with legislative and POTL requirements and non-conforming incidents or situations are recorded and rectified in a timely manner. Electrical non-conformance and/or non-compliant matters/issues are identified, recorded and resolved in a timely manner utilising the required documentation. Timely reporting of faults and breakdowns via approved process. Downtime from breakdowns is kept to a minimum. 5 Key Responsibilities Participate in training relevant to the work environment including but not limited to: oil spill/cyclone/port emergency and other maintenance related training and procedures as directed. Participate in port emergency responses as directed to assist with successful restoration of the Port back to an operating capacity in the event of an emergency. LIMITS OF AUTHORITY: The Tradesperson Electrician is authorised to: Undertake all duties as outlined in position responsibilities above in accordance with the Corporate Plan, Statement of Corporate Intent, financial objectives and strategies, the annual budget and POTL s policies and Business Management System. Approved expenditure in accordance with the delegation contained in the Authorities and Delegations Policy. Approval to requisition materials and parts in accordance with POTL s Purchasing Policy and Procedures Manual. Page 7 of 7
