BC Hydro is transforming its Supply Chain model through the implementation of a full category management capability to better meet the business requirements for quality, safety and reliability in what we buy for the best total cost and to ensure mutually beneficial supplier relationships. The Operations & Enterprise Supply Chain group is accountable to develop and implement strategies for the key categories that account for over 80% of BC Hydro s annual $2 billion expenditures. Categories are organized in the following portfolios: Enterprise, Major Equipment, Engineering & Technical Services, Materials & Logistics and Field Support Services. Our job is to give BC Hydro confidence that it is getting the best overall value from its overall spend. We are well into our multi-year transformational journey and we now have one opening for a Category Portfolio Manager. The Category Portfolio Manager is part of the leadership team for the Operations & Enterprise (O&E) Supply Chain group and reports to the Director. The role leads the organization in taking a strategic long-term perspective on the management of the following portfolio to achieve all business category objectives and help meet BC Hydro s (BCH) mandate.

2 The role that we are recruiting for at this time is: Category Portfolio Manager Engineering and Technical Services: With a cross functional team of Category and Strategic Sourcing Leads and $400M annual spend, the categories in this portfolio include services that are used to sustain ongoing operations of our system and deliver capital projects such as Engineering Services, Design, Inspection Services, Environmental Services, Waste Management. The ideal candidate must bring the perfect balance of business savvy and strategic orientation to lead a team and organization forward while using solid practical planning and execution skills to get the job done. They must be able to hold true to the long-term vision of what we are doing, take a pragmatic approach in achieving it and create full engagement with their teams and business groups. It is vital that this role provides novel solutions to business problems and be able to provide expert advice, mentoring and leadership across BC Hydro, the relevant industry and their respective teams. Therefore, our perfect person will quickly be able to build and leverage relationships and create environments conducive to teamwork. They will be able to identify issues and see it as their role to understand the details and facts of a situation in order to bring clarity to others and recommend solutions that will be widely supported and implemented. They must have a growth mindset, be able to stay calm in pressure situations and be able to effectively play the dual role of a coach and a cop to ensure team and organizational alignment to the Category Management practice. They must be solution focused, motivated by delivery of results, and the success of their Portfolio and overall Department teams and creating sustainable change to benefit the company. It is vital that they be able meet people where they are at and adapt their leadership style to engage the team, organization and suppliers to get things done and achieve the plan. High Level Outcomes 1. Deliver Results: Accountable to directly lead the Portfolio team, business groups and external stakeholders through the successful execution of category management for their Category Portfolios, as measured by the achievement of the category specific business objectives and targets. As active member of O&E Leadership Team, work with peers to ensure engagement and adoption of Category Management across BCH and O&E team. 2. Build Team and Manage People: Develop high performing teams that have a reputation for being trusted partners across the organization and are relied upon to deliver results for BCH. Create an environment where the team can operate at its best and successfully deliver the end to end Category Management process from category assessment, strategy development, execution through to sustainable, and measured results. 3. Build Credibility: Advance credibility (people have full confidence) of Category Management in BC Hydro at all levels including leadership, peers, team members and employees that rely upon suppliers to advance their work. This means being known as the expert in the process, ensuring that commitments, results and objectives are achieved, and the good news is shared. 4. Build Reputation: Build and advance reputation of BC Hydro with Suppliers, industry peers and other SME s by advocating and building understanding and support for Category Management and developing deep relationships to establish fair, transparent and trusting partnerships.

3 Qualifications: Education University degree Bachelor s (MBA or Master s preferred) Experience Minimum of 12+ years related business experience at a senior level in a large organization or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in a business start-up environment and evolving it into sustainment Experience working in a business environment that is complex, with multiple stakeholders and strategic considerations. Previous involvement leading and balancing multiple high complexity / risk / impact projects/ initiatives/strategies. Experience implementing innovative, broad scope solutions. Demonstrated knowledge and results in implementing multi-step, structured Category Management approach or other similar structured business process that includes: assessment, strategy development, implementation and monitoring of results in a business environment. Experience with supply chain related accountabilities and functions such as sourcing, supplier management or contract management. Experience building and leading high performing teams in situations with direct reporting and matrixed team members. Obtains buy in through understanding and appropriately linking category management to their outcomes.
