3 A Flexible Training Model Our clients choose the price and duration that fits them. Training concept Our customers tell us that our courses are highly relevant. However, price and logistics can be a barrier in a busy production schedule. In order to meet our customer s needs, we have created a flexible training model, consisting of three price and duration models. We offer practical training in all cement plant equipment from any manufacturer. Supported by leading academic engineering institutions, including Denmark s Technical University, we provide theoretical insights into the design of the equipment. Then, to bring it all together, we offer onsite training demonstrating the equipment in action. ONLINE COURSE All courses can be provided as live, online training with an FLSmidth specialist. The online training provides an introduction to the equipment or concept. It can also be used as a preparation for onsite courses. CRASH COURSE 2 days onsite inspection and training. With focus on a specific piece of equipment, our specialist inspects and trains the client s people in handling the equipment. WEEK COURSE 5-7 days of onsite training. The week course is hands-on and focused on specific equipment while also providing the theoretical understanding needed to gain a deeper level of competencies. Price: 200 pp./ course 3

4 Case: Irish Cement Our training programs aim at maximising the value of cement plant equipment through all lifecycle phases. Irish Cement customized training Limerick Cement chose a ten-day onsite customized training with a special focus on production and operation. The training covered about 50 people from the plant in different positions, ranging from a truck driver to a production manager. The trainer, who has been a frequent visitor at the plant since 1987, developed a special program customized exactly to the challenges of the plant. The course included case studies based on grinding technology and kiln process operation for Central Control Room operators. The client tells us that the course was especially helpful to process controllers and supervisors. 5 ONSITE COURSES Mechanical Courses Our highly skilled specialists offer a unique hands-on training in various mechanical fields. They share their know-how while inspecting the equipment, thus enabling the client s staff to perform the preventive maintenance themselves. Kiln System Maintenance The purpose of the training is to give participants knowledge and understanding within specific maintenance areas for modern kilns. The course is aimed at all kiln maintenance staff with focus on the preventive maintenance area. 6 ONSITE COURSES Vertical mills maintenance Optimizing the production capacity of the vertical mills plays a crucial role in increasing the up-time of the plant. The purpose of the training is to give participants knowledge and understanding of the troubleshooting of vertical mills. The course is aimed at all mechanical staff with focus on the preventive maintenance area. Course content Benefits for plant personnel Vibration measurements Participants will be able to carry out preventive maintenance of the vertical mills. They will understand the concept of following a maintenance schedule and thus, increase the durability and up-time of the equipment. 7 Process Courses Mill grinding technology Improving the competences in the team plays a key role in the optimal utilization of the grinding installation in the cement plant. The operators and process engineers must be able to evaluate all the process variables in order to optimize the production economy. This course provides an in-depth understanding of grinding theory and equipment and gives operators the tools to audit their own installation. Course content Mass, air flow and heat balances Grinding system, raw material and cement grinding Drying and grinding of coal Roller press installations Separators, types and operation Separator efficiency and particle distribution Ball mills installations and grinding media charges Ball mill operations Performance testing Benefits for plant personnel Participants are enabled to evaluate and optimize any grinding installation and thereby boost the production rate. This training is very important to improve our processes. I work in an old plant, and it is difficult to adapt the production with the alternative fuels. 8 ONSITE COURSES Kiln process & Operation This course covers all major issues within pyro technology. The aim is to enable the participants to make operational decisions upon pyro systems. By means of our simulator training on operational issues, the participants will obtain a higher level of know-how and decision-making. Their skills in operation control is improved, hereby increasing the plants capacity utilization. It is a very good course. It is full of information that will help our cost reduction. I have gotten some good ideas on alternative fuels. 11 International Cement Production Seminar Our goal is to provide participants with knowledge covering the entire production process. The seminar consists of three modules, more than 40 lectures, group work and discussion groups. Module 1 The participants gain knowledge of different technologies and their advantages with regards to optimizing the process. Module 2 We focus on which factors influence the cement quality. Furthermore, we develop participants skills with regards to investigating problems. Module 3 The participants gain deeper knowledge of the pyro-process and the inherent processes related to environment and alternative fuels.
