1 Business Facilitation Officer - Dangoroyo Location: [Africa] [Somalia] Town/City: Dangorayo Category: Project Management Job Type: Fixed term, Full-time Purpose of the position: With technical guidance and mentoring from a Project Manager/Project Coordinator/Technical Specialist the incumbent will assist the project management team and guide/supervise partners, ensuring high-quality, accountable, community-focused business facilitation approach project design and implementation. With guidance and mentoring, the position-holder will support people who are poor to increase their income through business training, business coaching and supporting the community to improve the business environment. BFO will lead in planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting for directly & indirectly WVI implemented project(s) with Business component. The position-holder will drive project implementation, ensuring projects take place on-time, on-target and within budget. He/she will provide support for the development of community driven and integrated programming through participation in assessments, design, monitoring, evaluation and joint-planning of projects. The position holder will spearhead capacity building efforts to community groups and partners, developing context appropriate training materials, organizing and facilitating trainings, and monitoring community uptake. The position holder will actively promote sector growth developing concept notes, forming alliances with INGO/NGO and government agencies, and meeting with potential donors as required. The incumbent will support external engagement with relevant government ministries, INGO/NGOs to promote coordination and cooperation, taking leadership roles when appropriate. Major Responsibilities Form and support a partner Business Association/s to improve the local business

2 environment : Support the establishment or strengthening of a Business Association in the assigned district to represent the interests of local business owners with a focus on target beneficiaries. Support the Business Association to take action to improve the business environment by providing training, capacity building session, coaching, networking etc. Provide business training Arrange, design and deliver experiential business training to small groups of target business owners on a regular basis Provide business coaching; Provide target business owners with follow up business coaching on request Actively encourage and support the development of business peer support groups and mentors. Support business clients to start or expand their business by providing tailored advice, information, training, referrals through the coaching process Be a researcher, learner & networker Regularly research business opportunities, community needs and assets in target area Develop a comprehensive database of local networks and service providers that can assist local businesses and the Business Association with business development. 3 Link/refer individual and group clients to local service providers such as banks and specialised training providers Create linkages/networks with financial institutions and/or other organisations or bodies that can assist in stimulating or advancing business development in the target area. Support the development of business groups, networks to improve business in local area Intentionally reflect on actions and learn from successes and failures Promote accountability, compliance and good stewardship Promote awareness and implementation of WV policies and procedures to staff members and partners; Promote awareness and monitor compliance with donor and support office requirements; Ensure value for money in regards to all transaction involving World Vision resources Ensure quality workmanship by contractors and consultants engaged by WV Responsible for interpretation of Information provision pamphlets and training materials into local language Project Management Advise and support monitoring and evaluation staff to conduct baseline and evaluation of the project

4 Monitor business progress of all small business owners via the Business Facilitators database Monitor the progress of the Business Associations with provided tools Write monthly progress reports and contribute to semi-annual and annual project report Manage the project budget. Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience Knowledge Practical business knowledge Basic knowledge of community development, empowerment and/or coaching principles and approaches. Basic knowledge on research & reporting A good command of the English language (contextual) Strong computer literacy skills including a good working knowledge of the MS Office Suite, and the internet. Experience Essential Demonstrated experience in small business development and management, including marketing, financial management and research. (e.g. owning or operating a business, or by providing business development services) Page 4/7

5 Demonstrated experience in relationship development, supporting/empowering and/or coaching others and networking Good oral & written communication skills. Desirable Demonstrated experience in development, community empowerment, working with community based organisations. Strong experience in networking Report writing experience Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluation.
