We are a division of Smithfield Foods, a leading processor and marketer of processed meats in the U.S. We are currently seeking the following positions for our St. Charles, Illinois Plant: 1. Maintenance Mechanics Multiple Openings Summary Description: Conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service on meat manufacturing and packaging equipment. This is NOT an apprentice position. Applicants MUST have prior manufacturing maintenance experience. REQUIREMENTS: Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service. Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs. Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines. Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules. Perform other duties as assigned or needed. High School Diploma or equivalent Technical training; Experience in troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, PLC and pneumatic systems 2+ years of related experience in packing machines/production machines

2 Must be physically able to perform the essential elements of the job as determined by the Company, including lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders and stairs. Must be able to perform basic math calculations and read and write English at least at 8 th grade level. Must obtain satisfactory score on maintenance technology skill assessment. We are a division of Smithfield Foods, a leading processor and marketer of processed meats in the U.S. We are looking for a Second Shift Maintenance Supervisor for our St. Charles, Illinois location. SUMMARY The Supervisor will oversee the maintenance and repair of all plant and operating facilities and equipment (mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and plumbing) to assure continuous, safe, and efficient operations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for having a firm knowledge of the plant s layout, systems, and equipment. Must be able to anticipate plant priorities as the situation arises. Responsible for staying abreast of current company policies as they relate to safety, USDA, environmental issues, etc. Will promote safety in the work place and apply teamwork approach to all tasks while checking critical plant equipment daily. Select, train, coordinate and direct department employees; evaluate performance against performance requirements. Assign employees to daily tasks of maintaining the facility and production equipment via work orders and follow-up as required. Assist employees in diagnosing malfunctions on machine and equipment.

3 Initiate and/or suggest plans to motivate employees to achieve company goals. Conduct training programs for department employees on specific equipment. Coordinate work with production to minimize work stops. Make recommendations for capital improvements and changes to enhance production and maintainability of the facility and equipment. Prepare cost estimates, budgets, correspondence and status reports. Plan, budget and schedule facility modifications including cost estimates, bid sheets, layouts and contract for construction and acquisitions Maintain awareness of employee s concerns. Promote good housekeeping in the maintenance areas and general facility. Other duties may be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma required, BS Degree and/or appropriate experience in engineering field strongly preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training and or experience may be considered. Minimum 2-5 years experience managing a maintenance workforce in a manufacturing facility, preferably in food manufacturing. Hazmat training a plus. Responsibilities of Position: 1. Plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate safety and environmental initiatives that exceed regulatory requirements. 2. Create, support and implement strategies to establish and improve Safety and Environmental Compliance. 3. Manage all aspects of safety and environmental compliance: permit application, renewal/appeals, compliance monitoring and reporting. 4. Establish safety and environmental management systems in order to achieve ISO and OHSAS certifications. 5. Lead support and training of personnel in proper safety and environmental procedures. 6. Develop, evaluate, recommend and support process and equipment changes and improvements to maximize safety and improve environmental impact of operations. 7. Educate personnel in safety and environmental impact of operating parameters to reduce emissions and waste streams. 8. Primary interface with local, state and federal regulatory commissions regarding safety and environmental practices. 9. Lead proactive effort in air and environmental testing to assure compliance to standard practices. 10. Establish and assure adherence to internal auditing schedules. 11. Lead root cause analysis and preventive/corrective action follow-up. Required Skills: 1. Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations. 2. The ability to communicate effectively with people of all levels of education/experience and collaborate with cross-functional teams to reach joint decisions, identify and resolve problems. 3. Positive, proactive, self-directed approach. 4. Effective anticipation and analysis of root causes.

5 5. Ability to anticipate needs, forecast conditions, set goals/standards and measure results. 6. Good organization skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously. 7. Experience/Education Required: Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in related physical science. Three (3) to five (5) years experience working in manufacturing. Experience or training in OSHA standards and environmental regulations. Experience in ISO and OHSAS certification process desirable. Position Summary: The Operations Associate/Engineering (OA) is a month program that includes rotational assignments in Operations, Engineering/Maintenance, Safety, Human Resources, Accounting, and Quality. An OA is given exposure across the engineering and manufacturing teams to acquire a well rounded experience in a selected discipline. The associate will work with several managers for the development of targets to develop core leadership and functional skills through the plant s manufacturing rotational assignments, ultimately learning all facets of the business. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

6 Responsible for working with cross functional members of the plant s leadership team to gain exposure across the operations and engineering teams, while remaining flexible and accommodating the ever changing business needs. Responsible for staying abreast of current company policies as they relate to Safety, Quality, Foods Safety, Regulatory, environmental issues, etc. Will promote safety (people and food) in the work place and apply teamwork approach to all tasks. Maintain a competent, trained work force at the determined head count. Monitor and train employees for adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP). Assure standard operating procedures and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) requirements are followed. Help develop and meet plant safety goals. Participate in safety/environmental self-audits & visual checks, and champion safety activities. Assure daily production schedules are met and issues are communicated timely. Conduct or assist with employee relations investigations. Work toward baseline variances at better or above goals. Participate in scheduling and ensuring effective mechanical Preventative Maintenance is conducted. Track cost savings projects under his/her control to meet objectives. Develop future cost savings projects to meet plant objectives. Ensure compliance to product specifications throughout the manufacturing process. Address team member concerns/requests in a timely and caring manner. Ensure accuracy of reports. Submit mechanical downtime or production reports timely. Checks and verifies timekeeping for assigned team members daily. Train to ensure ability to backup all key position within the first line supervision of the organizational chart. Complete assigned training. Issue corrective actions as required. Train as assigned team members in company and regulatory policies (OSHA, EPA, USDA/FSIS, EEOC). SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has supervisory responsibilities for up to 100 production workers.
