3 Assists U.S. workers who lose their jobs due to foreign trade The Workforce Development Agency, State of Michigan is the grant recipient and administers the program on a statewide basis TAA Petitions must be filed with USDOL If certified based on statutory criteria, workers may apply for benefits at Michigan Works! 7 Classroom Training College or vocational courses, up to 130 weeks Covers tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment Training Employer-Based Training On-the-job training Customized Training Apprenticeships

8 On-the-Job Training (OJT) Worker has been hired by employer Contract must be in place prior to starting employment Worker requires specified skills to be proficient in new occupation Plan in place to ensure worker will become proficient TAA Program funds 50% of Wages for up to 104 Weeks

9 TAA Customized Training Designed to meet the special requirements for an employer or group of employers Conducted by separated vendor, but with a commitment by the employer, or group of employers, to employ an individual upon successful completion of training Can include on-site training provided by the employer (if identified in training contract) TAA Program funds 50% of Training for up to 156 Weeks

10 TAA Registered Apprenticeships Combination of On-the-Job learning and Related Technical Instruction (RTI) Employed at the start of their apprenticeship Covers: Classroom Instruction Tools Uniforms Equipment Books Funds can be utilized until participant reaches suitable employment or deadline of training TAA Program funds 100% of Training for up to 156 Weeks
