1 Professional Services Courses at the Centre for Lifelong Learning As part of the professional services offer we are recruiting for courses in Accounting, Finance, Legal, Management and Human Resources. You will be assessed in English and Maths. In order to enrol after the assessment please bring with you a passport. There is funding support available for some of the courses please bring evidence of benefits if you want to access this. Bookkeeping qualifications Accounting Academy: AAT Level 1 Introductory Award in Bookkeeping 62h course (Sem 1 Sep-Jan Tues 13:15-16:45) 62h course (Sem 2 Feb-Jul Tues 13:15-16:45) With this qualification, there s no need for any prior accounting knowledge. This course will give you a solid background in single entry bookkeeping. It offers an introduction to manual bookkeeping skills and the essential skills of single-entry bookkeeping. The course offers an introduction to manual double entry bookkeeping, including associated documents and processes, up to Trial Balance standard. Computerised Accounts qualifications AAT Level 1 Introductory Award in Computerised Accounting Day (Sep-Jan Thurs 13:00-16:00) Eve (Sep-Jan Thurs 18:30-21:30) This is the perfect starting point if you want to carry out basic finance and administrative duties using the SAGE accounting software package. Qualification consists of 2 units: Computerised accounts (Sage) Spreadsheet software AAT Level 2 Foundation Award in Accounting Software Day (Feb-Jun Wed 14:00-17:00) Eve (Feb-Jun Thurs 18:30-21:30) With this qualification you can build on your knowledge of accounting software packages. You'll learn practical skills, from using accounting software, entering accounting transactions and producing a range of reports. Assessment consists of 1 exam. Accountancy Qualifications Entry Award in Accounting (AAT Access) (Sep-Jan Thursday 13:00-17:00) (Feb-Jun Mon 13:00-17:00) This qualification is perfect for ESOL learners or people taking their first step on the career ladder. As well as getting a taster of what it s like to work in a professional environment, you will pick up accounting terms and get support with literacy and numeracy. Creating business documents AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting (Eve) (Sep-Jul Tue and Thurs 18:30-21:30) (Fast Track) (Sep-Jan Tues and Wed 9:30-17:00) (Fast Track) (Feb-Jul Tues and Wed 9:30-17:00) UNFUNDED: 1365 This qualification will prepare you for entry-level accounting roles. It delivers a solid foundation in finance administration - covering areas such as double entry bookkeeping to basic costing principles and using accounting software. 5 AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting (Blended learning) Varied times This qualification will prepare you for entry-level accounting roles. It delivers a solid foundation in finance administration - covering areas such as double entry bookkeeping to basic costing principles and using accounting software. You will get online access to materials, and phone support from your dedicated tutor, but you will be coming in 1 evening a week for the first term, then 6 Saturdays for revision and to take your exam and once every 3/4 weeks on Wednesday evening to support your progress. Assessment consists of 5 exams. Qualification consists of 5 units: Basic Costing Computerised Accounting Bookkeeping Transactions Control of Accounts, Journals and Banking Systems Effective Working in Accounting and Finance UNFUNDED: IAB Payroll Qualifications IAB Level 1 Award in Payroll 601/9039/5 (Sep-Jan Thurs 9:00-12:00) (Feb-Jun Tues 9:00-12:00) The Level 1 Award in Payroll qualification is specifically aimed at learners who wish to gain an introduction to the study of payroll and gain a qualification at Level 1 of the regulated qualification framework, either from a point of no previous knowledge, or having worked in a payroll environment with no accredited payroll qualifications. UNFUNDED: 225 CO-FUNDED: 225 FULLY FUNDED: 25 Learners who are considering a career as a self-employed practitioner will find the course invaluable as a starting platform, as will businesses owners who would like to be actively involved in the gathering and processing of payroll data and keeping of payroll records for their business.

6 IAB Level 2 Certificate in Payroll 601/9046/2 (Jan-Mar - Thurs 9:00-15:30) (Apr-Jul - Thurs 9:00-15:30) Individuals aspiring to become professional payroll administrators. Individuals who have achieved the IAB Level 1 Award/Certificate in Payroll or some of the units within these qualifications Individuals who are new to working in payroll but have some previous general knowledge of payroll procedures. Individuals who now wish to increase their skills and knowledge to that required of payroll processors prior to employment. Individuals who have previously worked in payroll and have not received a qualification. Individuals who wish to return to working in payroll and need to update their knowledge. UNFUNDED: 380 CO-FUNDED: 380 FULLY FUNDED: 30 Individuals who are already employed in payroll processing or allied roles and who wish to ensure that they have both a firm foundation and the knowledge and skills to perform some non-routine tasks. AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting (Student Loan Available) (Day) 360h (Sep-Jun Mon and Tues 9:30-15:30) (Fast Track) 360h (Feb-Jun Mon, Wed & Thurs 9:30-17:00) (Eve) 360h (Sep-Jun Mon and Wed 18:30-21:30) In this qualification, you will master more complex financial processes, including accounts preparation, advanced bookkeeping, spreadsheet software, final accounts for sole traders and partnerships, costs and revenues and professional ethics. Assessment consists of 6 exams. 7 AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting (Student Loan Available) (Sep-Jul - Wed Eve 18:30-21:30 and Sat Day 9:30-17:00) Get the skills you need to become a financial team leader or set up your own practice with our Advanced Diploma in Accounting. You ll cover statements for limited companies and complex management accounting tasks and you can really hone your skills with optional specialist units including business tax, external auditing and credit control. Once you ve passed, you ll automatically become an AAT affiliate member, and if you have relevant work experience you can qualify for AAT full professional membership. The course consists of 6 units: Financial statements, Budgeting, Financial performance, internal control and accounting systems, Business tax and Personal tax UNFUNDED: 2255

8 Financial Qualifications: 1. L3 Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (Cost 1600 (Student Loan Available)) (Tue and Thurs 17:45-21:00) Take the first step on the path to becoming a qualified mortgage adviser with the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP ). Any individual who wishes to give professional advice to consumers on mortgages requires an appropriate qualification that is recognised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). As the premier mortgage qualification, CeMAP is firmly established as the qualification of choice in the financial services industry. Advanced Diploma in Financial Trading 1. About the course The VTCT Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Financial Trading is a financial qualification aimed at learners who wish to pursue a career as a financial trader, or a career within the financial sector. Learning the theoretical concepts behind trading strategies with practical implementation using institutional trading software. This course may be used to pursue a career within the financial sector, or progress on to higher level qualifications in financial trading. This course has the facility to be partially funded by a student loan (worth 1,265. This intensive course lasts five weeks - four weeks at the College (Mon-Fri 9:15 16:30) and the fifth week at the Divento Financials offices (6:45 16:30). The course is taught by staff from Divento Financials, an independent financial futures trading company specialising in the training and management of proprietary traders. 2. Entry requirements There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification set by VTCT; it is recommended that learners have an interest in the financial services sector and hold a Maths GCSE at Grade A-C or higher. 3. What you learn This qualification is based on attaining professional competence within financial trading and includes the required elements to work effectively as a financial trader. Learners must achieve all mandatory units: - Financial markets and operations

9 Legal Qualifications Level 2 Certificate in Legal Secretarial (Cost Unfunded / Funded - 30) (Sep-July - Wed Day time 09:30 17:00) To qualify as a legal secretary or want to work in administration you will learn how to create letters, memos and legal documents using word-processing software and audio equipment. The syllabus also includes the structure of the legal profession, as well as roles and responsibilities within legal firms. You will learn how to plan and prioritise your workload, the benefits of effective team work and the importance of managing effective customer relationships. Level 2 unit in Legal Word Processing Text Processing You will develop the knowledge and skills to produce documentation appropriate for the legal and business environments accurately, and become familiar with word processing techniques, legal document layouts and legal terminology. The outcomes include creating documents to a given house style, amending and formatting the layout of different texts, identifying and correcting spelling errors, creating tables and importing graphics into documents. Level 2 unit in Legal Word Processing Audio You will develop the skills to transcribe recorded material into documentation appropriate for the legal and business environments accurately. You will learn to interpret and implement audio conventions, and learn to format the layout and text of new documents. Level 2 unit in Working in the Legal Environment You will learn the different roles and responsibilities of personnel within a legal office, and be aware of how relevant legislation, regulations and procedures apply to the legal and business environments. You will develop an understanding of working relationships, effective communication skills and internal and external customer service. Level 2 unit in Legal Word Processing Proof-reading You will develop the knowledge and skills to proofread documentation appropriate for the legal and business environments accurately, including identifying commonly misspelt words, correcting punctuation and grammar and ensuring consistency in capitalisation and formatting Management Qualifications Charted Management Institute Level 5 Diploma in Management Cost 1360 (Sep-Jun - Wed and Thu Evenings 18:30-21:30) The Chartered Management Institute s Level 5 qualification in management and leadership is tailored to the needs of practising middle managers and those aspiring to senior management. The course will help you to develop your core management skills and learn the professional habits of an effective manager. Learners focus on management areas that are applicable to their specific roles, improving their resource management, leadership and decision-making skills. By the end of the course, learners will be better prepared to manage teams and individuals, setting appropriate targets and facilitating effective

The curriculum also covers recruitment, personal development and project management Human Resources Qualifications: CIPD Level 3 Diploma in Human Resources Practice (Cost 1500) (Student Loan Available) (Sep-Jun Mon 09:30-15:30) This CIPD Foundation Level qualification is perfect if you want to acquire a wide range of relevant practical skills in either Human Resources (HR) or Learning and Development (L&D). This qualification is designed to support your career development in either HR or L&D by providing a foundation for you to build on and introducing you to the knowledge and capabilities needed by today s professionals. CIPD Level 5 Diploma in Human Resources (Cost 2500) (Sep-Jun - Tue and Thu Evenings 18:30-21:30) CIPD Intermediate qualification gives you the opportunity to build on your HR or L&D expertise and gain a professional level of CIPD membership. Set at undergraduate level, this qualification is suitable for Middle Managers and looking to develop a career in HR management further or development and want to study a recognised qualification or need to understand the role of HR or L&D in the wider organisational and environmental context.

Level 2 Professional Services Study Programme (Wed, Thurs and Fri 9:30-17:00) Are you interested in a career within professional services, in areas such as, accounting, finance and banking? This one-year course will give you a chance to develop your accounting and financial skills to prepare and enable you to develop practical skills that you will be using in your future workplace. There are four main qualifications that you will be working toward on this course: 1. Level 1 in Accounting and Bookkeeping (Accredited by AAT) 2. Certificate in Finance (Accredited by IFS) 3. GCSE Maths Grade 4 plus and GCSE English Grade 4 plus 4. Compulsory Work Experience, Enrichment and Home work Entry Requirements You will need Five GCSEs at grade D or above, one of which must be in English Language and one mathematics or equivalent level qualifications. Attend a formal assessment prior to enrolment which will test your knowledge of math s and logical thinking. You will need to demonstrate your interest in the subject. 3. Level 3 Professional Services Study Programme (Mon, Tues & Fri 09:30-17:00) Have you achieved your A-C GCSEs, are aged and interested in a career within professional services in areas such as accounting, finance and banking? This intensive one-year course will give you a chance to develop your accounting and financial skills to prepare and enable you to develop practical skills that you will be using in your future workplace. Compulsory Work Experience, Enrichment and Home work Entry Requirements You will need 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, two of which must be in English and Math s. Attend a formal assessment prior to enrolment which will test your knowledge of Math s and logical thinking. You will need to demonstrate your interest in the subject.
