1 Job Description and Person Specification Job Title Salary Hours Youth Leadership and Participation Officer 21, ,123 p/a (subject to qualifications and experience) 37 hours p/w (post requires evening and weekend work) Term Fixed term (ends March 2020) Location Report to Office based in Headington, Oxford, however travel throughout Oxfordshire will be required Membership Programme Manager Background Oxfordshire Youth has been awarded a four year Big Lottery Reaching Communities grant for a new project, Sustainable Communities, from Sustainable Communities will support youth groups and clubs to provide good quality youth provision for young across Oxford City and the wider county. It will work intensively in communities across Oxfordshire over four years, to establish and sustain youth projects/clubs in communities that either lack provision or where existing clubs are under threat and will provide ongoing support to voluntary youth clubs through our membership programme. This is part of Oxfordshire Youth s core offer and is an important role that will be working in a team of four providing meaningful membership support. The main focus of the role is to model effective youth work practice and to facilitate the sharing of learning within our member organisations, developing their capacity to deliver high quality youth programmes. significant element of this role involves working face to face with young and requires solid skills in this area. There is scope for you to be creative within this programme and make a significant difference to the communities you will be working with. minimum of two evenings a week will be required.

2 The main objective is: Objective 1 Objective 2 Objective 3 Objective 4 Volunteers report increased confidence in working effectively with young Young take on leadership roles in youth clubs/projects Young report that they have improved resilience and coping strategies Young have improved skills for life and work Key Tasks and Responsibilities Youth Development Work in partnership with staff and volunteers of member organisations to develop and deliver bespoke youth work sessions for member organisations Coordinate the Membership ctivities programme including booking providers, liaising with member organisations and carrying out administrative tasks associated with this. Support young to take on leadership opportunities and to improve their skills in this area. Facilitate the internal youth committee, Voice, working with the young to deliver three county-wide events, encourage member feedback and engagement and represent the voice of young to the OY Trustee board. Develop the capacity of the young involved with the county-wide engagement forum VOXY in partnership with Oxfordshire County Council and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. Develop resources such as session plans and guides for clubs, groups and young to improve their confidence, resilience and skills for life and work. Support the development of youth provision within Oxfordshire, focussing on building the capacity of youth leaders in areas where provision is lacking. Member Engagement Point of contact for member enquiries by phone, and site-visits, providing bespoke and tailored support, advice and guidance on a range of topics such as programme and activity planning, youth work best practice and signposting to other

3 events, resources and services. Responses should be timely, professional and appropriate ensuring the best possible outcome for each member contact. Build effective working relationships with all stakeholders including Oxfordshire Youth members, young, wider sector organisations, activity providers and Oxfordshire Youth s local partners, ensuring Oxfordshire Youth builds a high positive profile across our network. Contribute content to the ongoing communication tools including the monthly newsletter, Oxfordshire Youth website and social media. Such communication includes; topical youth work issues, upcoming training and events, new engaging session ideas and sample activity programmes. Support the Membership team in developing the capacity of leaders where required, providing more intensive support around youth programme delivery in areas where provision is lacking. Work with colleagues to help coordinate training, county-wide events for young and member networking events. Support the design and delivery of training programmes and encourage learning and development of staff members and volunteers in our member organisations Support Membership Team to undertake project admin tasks, working together with the Office dministrator where required. Oxfordshire Youth To attend team meetings and regular supervision meetings with the Line Manager Work with the Membership team to implement project monitoring and evaluation mechanisms including contributing to monthly reports and regular consultation with members and young to obtain feedback as part of the continuing development of the project. Monitor performance against agreed annual targets for delivery and quality standards, while constantly looking to improve the qualitative effectiveness of the work produced by the Membership team. Extensive use of Oxfordshire Youth s membership database to accurately collect and record member details, contact and engagement. To liaise and work alongside other team members and to maintain good inter-agency links To ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with Oxfordshire Youth s values, guidelines, policies and procedures To undergo training that will enable personal and workforce development To undertake any other relevant duty related to the further development, promotion and sustainability of the organisation as agreed with the Line Manager. 4 Person Specification Qualifications and Experience minimum of two years working face-to-face with young Either a recognised youth work or education qualification or similar track record of delivering training events and workshops with young and adults Experience of coordinating activity programmes with young Experience of working with youth groups and clubs Experience of monitoring and evaluation Experience working with policies and procedures that affect youth clubs and support activities with young Experience of working with youth committees or steering groups full clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including being able to communicate effectively to a varied audience ble to positively engage and motivate others In-depth knowledge and understanding of the range of issues relevant to and affecting young Understanding of the needs and working practices of youth clubs and groups Highly organised and able to manage own workload bility to determine priorities and targets and achieve them including when working under pressure. Confident user of IT, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint or pplication or Interview
