1 Accessing the Entry-to-a-Major Application 2. Click My Record Tab 3. Application is available in the Engineering channel. General Engineering majors who began at Texas A&M University in Fall 2014 or later should use the Entry-to-a-Major application to request admission to up to five engineering majors Login to your Howdy Portal using your NetID and password. Click the My Record tab. The application is available in the Engineering channel. Click Entry-to-a-Major.

2 Eligibility 1. Eligibility Criteria 2. Application Criteria 3. Click Apply to begin 1 The eligibility box on the left indicates if you have met the criteria. Green indicates that criteria has been met. A red box indicates that you have not met the criteria. All criteria must be met in order to submit the application. 2 The detail of each criteria is outlined in the white box on the right. If you have any questions about the criteria, please contact your assigned advisor. If you do not know who your assigned advisor is, click the Who s my advisor? link in the Engineering channel. 3 Assuming you have met all of the criteria click the Apply Button to begin your application. *Note: You will be able to save your application and complete it at a later time.

3 Aggie Code of Honor Agreement 1. Click the Save & button 1 2 Read the Aggie Code of Honor Agreement. Click the box to indicate you have read and agreed to the honor code. Click the Save & button.

4 Major Choices 1. Select major(s) Read more about the majors offered 1 You are required to apply to three majors with the option to select up to five majors in rank order. You cannot select the same major twice. Each major to which you apply will be given your ranking for that major. For additional information about engineering majors, please click the text box that reads Need more information on engineering majors? 2 Click Save &

5 Major Selection Deciding Factors 1. Select the reason(s) why you chose these majors 1 2 This section is asking you to select all factors that influenced your decision to apply for your intended majors. Factors can include information learned in ENGR 111/112, your peers or parents, student organizations, high school activities, scholarships, and/or experience you have had with professionals in the field (industry). If the factor that influenced you is not in this list, please check the Other box and type in your response. You must select at least one factor. This information is reviewed by all selected major choices to which you apply. Click Save &

6 Activities 1. Select the activities that you are involved in at Texas A&M. 1 This section is focused on co-curricular activities you have been involved with since enrolling at Texas A&M. Please indicate the number of hours per week you spend in each activity. This information is reviewed by all selected major choices to which you apply. This section is optional but highly suggested. Activities include employment, volunteering/community service, research, student organizations, honors program activities, and scholarship program activities. Engineering student organization information should be included in your written Statement of Purpose for each major(s). If you are involved in an activity not listed, please check the Other box and type in your activity and the hours per week. If you are in the Corps of Cadets and intend to pursue a commission contract, please select the contract option. If you are in the Corps but do not plan on pursuing a commission contract, please select the non-contract option. 2 Click Save & Continue.

7 Outstanding Achievements 1. Give any additional information regarding achievements you have earned. 1 In this section you have an opportunity to highlight any outstanding achievements you feel are notable for departments to consider. Outstanding achievements can include leadership roles, major projects related to engineering, work or internship experience and scholarships. Feel free to use awards from your time in high school, particularly if they are related to engineering, science or math. You can also use this space to elaborate on any activities, leadership (drum major, eagle scout, etc.), or academic accolades from high school. This information is reviewed by all selected major choices to which you apply. This section is optional but highly encouraged. 2 This application uses plain text formatting. You are encouraged to use a word processor, like Microsoft Word, to type out this paragraph and to check your word count, spelling, and grammar. You can then copy and paste your text onto the given text box. 3 Click Save & Continue. *Note: Remember you can save and exit the application and return at a later time.

8 Additional Information 1. Give any additional information you would like for the committee to consider In this section you have an opportunity to highlight additional information you want the committee to consider. You can include extenuating circumstances or other factors that are relevant your academic performance. You can use this space to continue discussing any outstanding achievements. This information is reviewed by all selected major choices to which you apply. This application uses plain text formatting. You are encouraged to use a word processor, like Microsoft Word, to type out this paragraph and to check your word count, spelling, and grammar. You can then copy and paste your text onto the given text box. Click Save & Continue.

9 Statement of Purpose (Sample) 1. Give any additional information regarding why you chose your first choice major You will write a separate Statement of Purpose for each major. Your Statement of Purpose should explain your reasons for selecting this major. You should be as specific as possible regarding academic areas of interest, future professional career goals, industry interests, and strengths you would bring to the department. Only the major to which you applied will read the statement of purpose for that major. This application uses plain text formatting. You are encouraged to use a word processor, like Microsoft Word, to type out this paragraph and to check your word count, spelling, and grammar. You can then copy and paste your text onto the given text box. Click Save & Continue.

10 Review Application 1. Review all your information 2. Check acknowledge box and submit application 1 In this section you have the opportunity to review your application in its entirety before you submit. It is important to review each section carefully. 2 Read and check the Acknowledge and Submit Box to indicate you have read and agree to the three statements listed. 3 Click Submit Application.

11 Application Status after Submission 1. Review all your information The application status should read Awaiting review 1 You will receive an confirmation indicating successful submission of your application. In addition to the confirmation , checking your application status on your Howdy Portal is a great way to confirm submission of your application. Successful submission of your application changes your application status to Awaiting review.
