2 BACKGROUND SNSW and TSC identified the need to provide : Structured Development Framework and Curriculum Pathways for TOs to develop in the sport Retention into the future Technical Officials (TOs) required in large numbers

3 BACKGROUND In 2015: TSC piggy backed Development Program onto the Athlete program Recent changes: Backstroke Ledge introduction to maintain the high status of SNSW Meets Need for more Inspectors of Turns Opportunity: Athlete Development Framework proved to be a good fit

4 THREE LEVELS OF TRAINING ALL SUPPORTED BY SNSW FUNDING 1. Area Development Days Local Level 2. State Development Squad Program 3. National Development Program SAL State Teams

8 AREA DEVELOPMENT DAYS LOCAL LEVEL Area is required to conduct Swimming Development Days for each of their squads DO (in conjunction with Development Convenor) : Organise the days and sessions for parents Emphasise that the sport necessitates a commitment to assisting

9 AREA DEVELOPMENT DAYS LOCAL LEVEL Area is required to conduct Swimming Development Days for each of their squads TSC : Each Area has been assigned a TSC member (Buddy) as a resource Support, resources, power point etc. Add more Online modules

10 AREA DEVELOPMENT DAYS LOCAL LEVEL Area is required to conduct Swimming Development Days for each of their squads ATSCC : Use these days as a means of recruiting parents by way of seminars, forums, presentations or information sessions Assessments Each Area can develop this level to suit their individual situation

11 OVERVIEW Technical Official Development Program Area Achiever (D) Target (B & C) National A SNSW ATSCC & DO & TSC team up to deliver program. Develop a large number of club level officials Identifies and nominates candidates for higher squads Increase numbers of local Referees and Officials TSC introduction to State level skills. Mentoring in practical officiating at Achievers (D) Squad Meet 3 hours of Intermediate level advice and interactive discussion sessions Intensive practical and mentoring at the Target (B & C) Squad Meet 7 hours of interactive discussion sessions at the National A Squad Meet Higher level preparation and skill development Practical preparation for State Meets Over a three year period a large number progress to State level officiating. SAL State Teams

12 AIMS : STATE DEVELOPMENT SQUAD PROGRAM These Meets be an effective training environment Introduce annually 24 people into the Technical Official Pathway. Generally starting with the Achiever Meet Create strong working relationships and peer support for TO s Maintain highly skilled workforce for SNSW Meets Ensure that SNSW TO s are prepared for National Meets

13 TSC NEEDS AREA AND ATSC AS TALENT SCOUTS Identify talented individuals from their Club and Area activity Encourage and support individuals to attend State Development Program push Encourage and support individuals to attend State Championships

14 SNSW FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR PARTICIPANTS SNSW has provided funding $ Areas have also contributed $ Support participants at the two day training events in conjunction with the National A Squad and the Target (B & C) Squad program The Achiever (D) Squad participants will also receive funding support for the one day Travelling together or with their teams and sharing accommodation along with additional Area support would minimise the cost to participants.

15 QUALITY ASSURANCE Program will maintain quality consistency of the Presentation and Assessment Process at Area level. The new SAL Learner Guides, Modules and Examinations also support. Identify areas of focus for future programs.

16 SQUAD MEET PROGRAMS The TSC will select the two candidates from each Area for each of the squad programs. ATSCCs can nominate preferred candidates Individuals can also apply directly Where an Area is unable to fill their quota, the TSC will include candidates from other Areas.

17 PRACTICAL SWIM MEET SESSIONS Evaluate and assist interpretation of stroke Strengthen knowledge of Protocols Assist with the progress toward higher Levels for Referees and Starters Mentor supported Development of Practical Skills while officiating

18 NATIONAL A MEET PROGRAM Quite extensive presentation time Fast tracking of skills and knowledge Encouraging TOs to also branch out and learn new skills TSC may invite suitable candidates who have shown interest in officiating at higher levels The TSC will select the two candidates. Where an Area is unable to fill their quota, the TSC will include candidates from other Area Practical Swim Meet Sessions : These sessions are complimented by two practical race sessions.
