3 History of streamlined Training Packages 2008/09: Review of Training Packages commissioned by the Australian Government. 2012: Standards for Training Packages endorsed. December 2015: All Training Packages to be transitioned to the new standards. 3

Code changes Training Package codes A three character code which reflects the industry area BSB = Business Services The year of endorsement is no longer included BSB07 is now BSB As Training Packages are improved and updated, they will be given a new release or version number BSB V2 8

9 What s different? Code Changes Qualification codes The first three letters identify the training package. The first digit identifies the AQF level of the qualification. The next two digits differentiate the qualification from other qualifications at the same AQF level within the Training Package. The last two digits identify the year in which the qualification was endorsed. BSB10115 Certificate I in Business 9

10 What s different? Code changes Unit of Competency codes Codes no longer include a version identifier (A, B, C, D, etc) at the end of the code. BSBITU101A is now BSBITU101 Each code still has a maximum of 12 characters The first 3 characters identify the Training Package in which the unit sits Any other letters indicate the unit sector or competency field Numbers are unit code identifiers Some Training Packages still include one number in the unit to signify the AQF qualification level - TAEDES401 10

Units of competency Application Combines Unit Descriptor and Application statement This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to secure cargo in accordance with procedures and regulatory requirements as part of work activities within the transport and logistics industry. It includes preparing to secure cargo/containers, lashing and unlashing cargo, protecting cargo from weather, and packing and unpacking cargo. Work is performed under some supervision generally within a team environment. (TLIA1001) 11

14 What else is different? Units of competency Range of Conditions (optional) Range is restricted to essential operating conditions and any other variables essential to the work environment. Non-essential conditions can be found in the Companion Volume Implementation Guide. (TLIA1001) None specified. Assessment requirements removed to stand alone documents 14

15 What else is different? Assessment Requirements Required skills, Required Knowledge and Critical Aspects for Assessment have been replaced. Performance evidence Describes products that must be provided or processes that must be demonstrated as part of the assessment, as well as the associated frequency or volume. Knowledge evidence Specifies what the individual must know in order to safely and effectively perform the work task described by the unit of competency. Assessment Conditions Describes any mandatory conditions under which the assessment must occur, and specifies any mandatory assessor requirements. 15
