Hold your mouse over the My Learning tab a drop down menu with 3 sub categories will appear. Learning Plans: My PDP - This is where your professional development is created and stored. My Bookings will show bookings/enrolments for qualification-based training like the Standard Sets for NCFS (5) Record of Learning Holds all your records of training made up of: Your CPD Log all training you have completed, or partly completed this CPD year Conferences and other learning Where you can add external training records and evidence for training you have completed outside radar. If you are part of a corporate group then any external training you add will need to be approved by your compliance manager. Once added this training will show as external training Transcripts provides a record of all training completed and can be sorted by year. Learning Plans: My PDP How to create your PDP If you are part of a corporate account group, then your PDP will have most likely been set up by your compliance manager. If not, this is where you start creating your annual PDP. Click on the Create new learning plan button to get started 3

This will bring you to the following screen: The various fields are described below, and when completed select Create plan. 4

The information on this page corresponds to the details that are included on page 1 of the example of a completed PDP in Appendix A of the Strategi CPD Navigator Guide. 1 Plan Template For most users this will be the default template either set by Strategi Institute or by your organisation. This field will be pre-populated for you. 2 Plan name Provide a name for the plan for example PDP of Nikhil Ghate for 2015 : 3 Plan description A brief overview of the purpose of the plan, i.e. any employment/association CPD requirements and a description of any business or intended role changes this CPD period (corresponds to information on Page 1 of the Strategi CPD Navigator example of a completed PDP). For example: I am a self-employed AFA who belongs to ABC adviser network, plus I am a member of the IFA. I intend to meet the IFA CPD requirement of 60 hours CPD over a two year period of which 30 hours need to be structured. As part of my ABC membership, I am required to undertake compulsory legislation refresher modules annually and undertake an annual Strategi compliance review. I currently specialise in investment advice but in 2014, I intend to provide insurance advice, generic asset protection/estate planning advice and generic taxation advice. I also have some legacy products in my client base that I intend to transition to more contemporary products. I intend to move to a new wrap platform and will use some new investment product suppliers. I have a Diploma in Personal Financial Planning plus hold CFP CM designation but this was attained over 10 years ago so my competencies in insurance, asset protection and taxation are somewhat rusty. My application for AFA status relied on my CFP CM designation exempting me from all Standard Sets, except Set B. I will be employing a new adviser and will train him/her. Initially this person will work under my supervision. 4 Date started and Completion date These dates should reflect the adviser s CPD period. For most advisers the start date will be 01/01/2015 and the completion date 31/01/2015 The start date will default to the date you are creating the plan, but can be overridden if necessary. A Create new learning plan completed screen based on the information above would look like this: 5

Note: Clicking this button will expand the range of editing tools available. To minimise the tools again (the default) simply click it again. Now create the plan by clicking here. (Note: Don t worry if you make a mistake or leave something out you will be able to edit it later if needed). 6

The next step is to approve your plan. If you have a compliance manager then your plan will need to be approved by them (they will receive an notification that you have created a plan and requesting they approve it) If not, then you can self-approve your plan by clicking here. There is no need to add a reason. If you need to edit your plan, or decide you want to start over, then click either of these buttons accordingly. 7

Once approved the plan will become active. The next step is to select the Objectives tab and create the competency areas you need to undertake training in. 8

Objectives Tab Creating objectives/competency areas Objectives are the overarching competency areas that you intend to train in and should contain a brief description about what you hope to achieve. As an example these correspond to the Competency headings and knowledge subjects in the Strategi CPD Navigator example of a completed PDP. Click Add new objective to start filling in your PDP details. 9

When finished click here to add the objective/competency to your PDP. 10

Objective title Assign an overarching title you may wish to use the competency titles used in the Strategi CPD Navigator example of a completed PDP. For example, Ethics, compliance, best practice; Advice Process; Product knowledge, and Behavioural finance/finology Objective description Briefly outline the aim of the training (what you want to achieve) and the desired outcome. For example under the objective Behavioural finance/finology you might write: Improve my understanding of clients goals, fears and expectations to Better match technology with clients preferences Use that understanding to communicate better and build trust, leading to increased referrals The descriptions should enable you, your compliance manager and the regulator to clearly see the gap you have identified and what you will be training to do. Note: The space available will expand if required. There is no need to complete the box simply add in the detail that is needed. Priority Click the dropdown arrow to select a priority of None, High, Medium or Low. The priority you choose is determined by your assessment of how critical it is that you undertake this training. For example if the FMA has done a check on you and suggested you undertake further training in client file requirements, then the training you select for that should have a priority of High. Status At the beginning of the CPD period and/or when adding a new objective, the status will always be Not started. If during the CPD year you want to amend the objective by adding additional requirements then you could select a different status, such as In progress from the drop down menu. A completed objective might look like this: 11

Click this box for expanded editing tools Click here to add the objective to your PDP 12

Continue adding all the objectives/competency areas you require. You can add extra objectives at any time through the year and can delete them by clicking the x. If you click on the name of the objective you will be able to edit the details, link and unlink CPD training you have selected, and link and unlink external evidence. How to use these buttons is described after the CPD Training tab. 13
