LETTER FROM TRIG PRINCIPAL, TY HAGLER I am looking for a designer who can boldly go out into the unknown and come back with insight and novel solutions. We need a designer who thrives in the ambiguity of solving tough innovation problems, wow clients with great visual and verbal communication, consistently generate great ideas, and have an insatiable curiosity for learning new skills. If you can master form and function, we want to talk to you. Working at Trig is an exceptional opportunity, but it's not for everyone. We deliver award-winning work that competes with top-tier design consultancies, yet we prioritize maintaining a work-life balance. Trig is a fully virtual company, which means each team member works from their respective home office, beach condo, or mountain cabin (with stable internet). Employees who have worked at traditional companies know we are building something very special. As a growing company, we hire self-starters who can get up and running quickly. An ideal candidate would lead projects with minimal direction while adhering to schedule and budget. Most importantly, you need to bring a high standard of excellence to help us continue to raise the bar at Trig. Our clients are facing incredible opportunities to grow their businesses. We need to help them realize their dreams by delivering exactly what they need, no more, no less. It all points to one question, can you champion the solutions of tomorrow? For the top performer who can answer yes to the following questions, this opportunity is for you. * Do you believe in holding the line on quality work? * Do you enjoy being challenged to learn and grow? * Do you have a killer portfolio of industrial design work? * Are you able to set aside ego and be part of team wins? * Do you have a track record of success moving across multiple industries and stages of product development? * Do you LOVE design and are still pinching yourself that this is a profession? * Are you looking to work with a firm like no other? I am excited to offer this opportunity and look forward to adding to our growing team. Ty Hagler Principal and Founder 1

ABOUT TRIG Trig is an award-winning innovation consulting, product design, and marketing firm that offers comprehensive insight-to-commercialization services for start-ups, mid-sized, and Fortune 500 companies across the United States. Based in Chapel Hill, the 10-person Trig team can be found in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Richmond, Virginia. Conventional wisdom of working with design firms says that we need to all be in the room together; Trig challenges that convention through our investment in digital collaboration tools and methodologies that drive a more efficient and effective process. As a fully digital company, we have built a global network of rapid prototype shops, machine shops, and contract manufacturing vendors to provide excellent quality solutions to handle the variety of client projects that frequent a new product development consulting firm. LIVE THE TRIG VALUES Our team is fueled by a set of core values. They shape the stories we tell of victories won and opportunities for improvement. HOLD THE LINE Hold the Line is an expression of protecting each team member's reputation and quality of work, which, in turn, protects the overall quality of work that clients expect and deserve from Trig. When we Hold the Line, we say that anyone can challenge the quality of our work in the spirit of making it the best it can be. We know that having a fresh set of eyes means much more than proofreading, as often a new concept or value proposition is another person s viewpoint away. WE ARE PRAGMATIC Often with our work, divergent perspectives are expressed, and we must focus our creativity to reach client goals. We aren t creatives for creativity s sake. We are in business to make other businesses better. We do that by striving for efficiency and treating every budget as if we had hired ourselves with our own money. Divergent thinking is essential to innovation, but it has to be balanced by pragmatism. We always strive to deliver effective and complete solutions to our clients with the greatest efficiency. WE ARE HUNGRY Every project matters. This dynamic isn t simply exemplified by delivering great work - it requires going the extra mile, and going there before our clients do. In the fast pace of modern business, companies need partners who will stay one or two steps ahead, surveying the horizon for indicators of change and fresh perspectives, while listening intently to clients and their customers. 2

WE ARE CURIOUS TINKERERS Any company that combines the diverse disciplines of innovation, design, and marketing must evoke the tinkerer s mindset. We must push as hard as we can against the creative constraints of business to deliver results that are thoughtful, game-changing, and solve real problems. No matter how large or small, each project offers an opportunity to explore our curiosity for a product or sector, allowing us to expand our minds to reach the best solutions, one step at a time. WE EXPLORE, PROTOTYPE, AND BUILD Most people can t get their heads around how a concept becomes a product in the marketplace. It s a difficult road to success in the marketplace, which necessitates processes that continuously improve product development over time. We are Design Thinkers with an innate ability to manage risk through multiple small experiments. We are explorers of new technologies and techniques, constantly testing the effectiveness of our discoveries through creative use of prototypes, then building out methodologies to consistently extract value from validated prototypes. Difficult shouldn t be scary. There s comfort in process, and we strive to be the guides who help you explore the high seas of product development. KEY OUTCOMES: CLIENT SATISFACTION, BILLABLE RATIO, & EFFICIENCY There is a long list of skills that you either have or quickly need to acquire at Trig (see Qualifications below). We consider these Key Outcomes to be fundamental. An Industrial Designer is a key producer and contributor to the financial health of Trig. This means nurturing positive, collaborative relationships with clients and coworkers, and measuring your success through three key performance indicators. CLIENT SATISFACTION: Clients have both spoken and unspoken expectations for our work. Achieving client satisfaction means not accepting what they say on face value, but asking deeper questions to help them think through what is needed to achieve their goals. Once you're through the trial period, your work product should delight fellow designers and clients on the first pass. BILLABLE RATIO: Billable Ratio is a measure of time spent on client work. We invest in our people and culture, so our utilization rate is modest for a professional services firm. That said, at least 70% of your time spent over a three month period must end up in a client's hands. 3

EFFICIENCY: Getting faster at your work as you grow in your career is the hallmark of a top performer. Industrial Designers deliver work under budget and demonstrate continuous improvement by reducing time-to-completion and meeting or exceeding benchmarks set by your peers. In other words, if it takes you 4 hours the first time you complete a sketch exploration, you should take less time with each subsequent exploration as you learn the tools and craft. QUALIFICATIONS At Trig, a person's core values, personality, and a demonstrable track record of success are more important to us than direct experience. That said, our ideal candidate has the following capabilities: * Have a BA/BS in Industrial Design or equivalent experience * Have at least 1+ years of experience in the capacity of an industrial designer producing work of the highest quality CUSTOMER RESEARCH * Lead the definition of new product offerings through empathy-centered research techniques * Able to interpret and apply quantitative research data to create new product offerings * Knowledge of design methods and ability to adapt techniques to specific client circumstances VISUAL COMMUNICATION * Have a strong capacity for concept visualization and creative solutions * Demonstrable sketching abilities - both spontaneous and refined. 3D CAD * Demonstrate a mastery of technical skills * Able to move fluidly from sketching to quick massing models to prototype-ready CAD * Understanding of mechanical design concepts and drawing communication requirements * Develop 3D surface models of high complexity and sophistication that retain design intent and feasible 4

MATERIALS AND PROCESSES * Have a strong understanding of materials and processes - balancing form and function for pragmatic design solutions * Understanding of basic requirements for a design-for-manufactured part * Innovate within known high and low volume manufacturing techniques * Able to specify materials, construction, mechanisms, color, and surface PROJECT MANAGEMENT * Follow through on specific project expectations, commit to completion * Manage multiple tasks and deadlines * Possess good communication and interpersonal skills * Accurate estimation of project hours and to completion BENEFITS * Incredible team-based virtual culture * Medical benefits * Healthy work-life balance. Typically 35 hours per week. No crazy all-nighters or weekends unless that is your thing. * Employer-paid short term, long term, and life insurance disability coverage. * Home office expense reimbursement * Significant career advancement opportunities (our growth is your growth) * Work from anywhere virtual environment gives you the freedom to work to live, not live to work. * Paid weekly exercise time. We believe a healthy body is a more creative producer. CONTRACT-TO-HIRE Trig isn't for everyone. We offer a 90-day contract trial period for each potential hire for you to try us out. We hope you LOVE the freedom and camaraderie that comes from working remotely. At the end of the 90-day period, we hope you choose to make the commitment to join the team, but understand that it doesn't always work out. We promise to do our best to earn your respect and trust during the trial period. In return, we expect your best to show us your chops and prove that you have what it takes to navigate the possibilities with Trig. FINAL THOUGHTS... Working at Trig is more than a job. It is a chance to grow with a team that truly cares about one another. You will be nurtured and challenged to grow a tremendous career that is second to none. A team member recently remarked that "I've learned more in three months than I did in an entire year at my last role." Good luck! 5
